  1. I think the AFL is still around. When I had a US satellite system I enjoyed watching the AFL. Lots of offence and a fast pace to the game.
  2. It makes perfect sense both would want to move on. As for fresh and healthy you would think Willy and the rest of our offensive guys that got injured would have been healthier and fresher as well. I am not one that puts much stock in the whole sitting all the time keeps one fresh or a player being on the field all the time means you are going to get worn out. Keep in mind if your offence or defence is on the field all the time then so is it opposition's offence or defence. You would think they would get tired too as they are putting in equal effort. It is just an excuse for either bad conditioning or coaching/play. Yeah you get tired but when I played sports, including football I would rather be on the field of play than sitting. You only worry about the pain afterwards.
  3. Well, I have seen an awful lot of our receivers get hung out to dry on passes or having to take many more heavy hits than other teams. Sure every receiver eventually gets hung out to dry but there has been an awful lot of it in the last few years. Honestly? I am surprised that Moore and the rest of our inside guys stayed healthy at all.
  4. Oh probably, but I am a long time fan that only cares about what happens on the field so there isn't much I should be happy about in the last billion years. For them it is a job. So we have very different out looks.
  5. I thought Moore was pretty consistent. However, in our brutal offence his body couldn't hold up to all the punishment he took. I have no doubt if he had been healthy for all last season he would have been over the 1000 yard mark. Our offence was way worse when he was out. I certainly hate to see him go but I am certain he will catch one elsewhere and return to glory. Dessler though offers many of the same talents but is also much more of a game breaker with his speed. For once the Bombers were able to replace talent with talent. We have lost far too many good receivers in the last several years and rarely replaced the, right away. I just hope to hell Dessler pans out and doesn't suffer Moore's fate of wallowing in an incompetent offence and getting injured.
  6. His public speaking would not lend credence to your statement. I, personally, have no interest in talking with any of the brass as I would more than likely not be able to contain my displeasure in their lack of moving this team ahead. They talk a good game but it is high time they get on field production. If I could separate the person from the job, like if I knew him before he became bomber staff, I might feel differently but if I talked to him now it would be as a very disgruntled customer. Whenever, I have seen Wade he has mostly looked surly so I would have to agree with you there
  7. Thank god for those two. Walters is about as personable as a dead clam.
  8. Meh. He'll be more butt hurt when no one picks him up. He was lucky Ottawa picked him off the scrap heap.
  9. Roflmao!
  10. I'm pleased Walters made it happen, I hope he continues to work on upgrading our receivers.
  11. I'd sign him.
  12. Definitely sad news. My condolences to his family.
  13. You have zero proof of "movers and shakers" knowing everyone and knowing of means ****. I know of many people but knowing of is so very different than knowing someone. I would expect any board member to have people skills though. So when they actually meet and sit down, they can get business done.
  14. They provide direction the CEO run the day to day within the plan. The CEO hires the GM for running the football operations. If the product on the field suck the onus is on the GM. If the overall franchise is failing, and buy this I mean financially and not just on the field, the CEO is on the hook. In the case of the Bombers finances are okay so neither the CEO or BOD is much on the hook for anything. The BOD is very arms length ... Just like a city council is from day to day operations.
  15. Your initial response was that fans don't dictate ****. I was responding to that. If fans knew salaries we would be more judgemental and would likely put more pressure on the franchise to get better bang for the buck. I really don't give **** about salaries... Unless like now where this team is so bad it would help to know whose salary could be jettisoned to make room for better quality players worth the money. Mind you our management sucks balls so ....
  16. The board has little affect with what happens on the field. The onus is on management to make the franchise work. The only time a board can affect the day to day is if their is a biased voting block. I would expect the members to be from a variety of business back ground as well as one member that has CFL or sport franchise experience and one member that represents civic and provincial governments. If no one knows each other all the better.
  17. Our dollars pay for their salaries and if the fan base drops and it is heard that certain players are falling out of favour chance are those players will "be reassessed". There are often moves done to placate fans. It is a part of business.
  18. Everything is a challenge for Winnipeg. Considering they have the weakest scouting of any professional sports team anywhere it is a surprise they find any talent at all.
  19. In FA money tends to rule which is one of the reasons they go to FA. Winnipeg has always managed to sign big and lesser names. So what? The fact remains is that whether by FA or drafting Winnipeg hasn't had a winning formula for years. They did alright on OL last year but only made a minor impact on DL and ignored DBs, LBs and and receivers. It would be great to get Dessler and Chick but they need a ton more good moves to not suck again this year.
  20. The thing is he also needs to improve several other positions and NIs across the board so he simply does not have the liberty to toss money around Willy-hilly for just a couple of pieces. However, he is in the half century rebuild mode so he may blow the budget on just two pieces and hopes he lucks out on a Walmart player or six.
  21. I don't care what any Bomber coach has to say, especially MOS.
  22. Yes. Of course I hope to be made to eat my words. Nothing would make me happier.
  23. I keep seeing Arceneaux straight-arming Washington and throwing him to the turf like a limp ragdoll. While embarrassing to witness, I still loved it because Washington sucks. What? Washington has been one our best defenders, plus one our best kick returners, what games have you been watching?you might be over valuing him here... good player? Sure... but if I had to list our best defenders he would be behind (in no particular order) Westerman, Bass, Wild, Leggett, Adams, Randle, and Johnson... I think you're under valuing him. He made a lot plays and a lot he shouldn't have had to. He can't cover 98% of the passes in his area over 10 yards, he probably extended more opposition drives with PI than any DB in the league. Sure he made some good plays and was key in one win this year, but he is definitely not one of our best. I wouldn't hesitate to replace him.
  24. I expect them to stay the course and take baby steps to sucking slightly less in 2016.
