  1. 1. Picked other because it is never just one thing that builds a strong team. 2. The only way to fix this team is find an independent "auditor" to find what it is that has made this team suck for the better part of 25 years. 3. Hopeless and we know it.
  2. worth noting that since Mike Kelly's departure, we've had a better record than his only ONCE. He was actually improving the team towards the end of the season, but had already written his destiny in his abrasiveness with the media. I honestly don't think he was a bad coach. His schemes were a little questionable at times, but he made adjustments. Something the current regime seems to be clueless about. I'm sure I stand alone... but bring back Mike Kelly for OC in 2016! haha Kelly was his own worst enemy. Many of his decisions hurt this team long after he departed. His unwillingness to adapt and stick with far outdated schemes would have eventually cost him lots of wins and his job. Ritchie was a crusty old fart but he still always had respect for the fans, press, and outside world in general.
  3. Almost too loyal. I don't believe the Bombers will be fixed until they can get an independent person or company to do a top to bottom review. We have had lots of great talent through here both coaches and players but it never results in a sustained good product on the field. That tells me there is SOMETHING rooted deep in the organization somewhere. Until that is rooted out and exterminated we will not return to any sort of sustained competitiveness as we had in the late 70's and through the 80's.
  4. I'm just hoping Davis has a good game. How he will do in MB's offense will depend on: A) His mobility and how he can work on the run. B How fast he can make his reads and get the ball off. C) How well he can make the right read and not turn the ball over. If he stays in the pocket he is going to get eaten alive ... eventually.
  5. Yes I believe they would have won only one or two more games at best. As I have mentioned Willy's numbers were starting to drop. Eventually the offensive scheme would have consumed him as badly as it did the year before and as it did our back ups. He also had the same receivers to throw to and an ineffective running game. If you just sit your QB in the pocket all the time eventually your are going to be having little to no offense. I believe that unless we had a good scrambling QB back there like a Collaros or Lulay the results would have been the same as we have now. The absolute best game that Willy had was when he threw MBs offense out the door and used his feet to better our offense. Willy wasn't going to be doing that all the time. Coaches would have insisted that he remain chained in the pocket. He stayed there after that and we all know what happened.
  6. The BC example is not quite the same as before the switch happened in the BC case the QB was playing well. Harris was doing very poorly.
  7. 6-11 maybe 7-10. I do not have much faith in saying this though.
  8. Yeah I have a point, Bucko. I am saying you don't have a clue what security costs, and your entire opinion is politically biased. I am basing that on all of the bullshit you've posted about Harper in the past. But really who cares. The election is over, and I would hate to sound "pissy". When I was working up in Terrace and Chretien was the PM, he spent the entire month of July in his summer getaway in Masset, in the Queen Charlotte Islands. The security detail and costs were enormous for him to be there, and communications alone were a huge challenge. At least, from what I was told by people who were part of the detail and planning at the Masset airport. But you know what, as much as I couldn't stand Chretien, I didn't begrudge him that protection, or the cost. It is what it is. What I would have to ask is was this the only option? Did the Indians not have the vehicles? I would, if I was a leader of a country, rich or poor, ensure that certain security items such as armoured cars or other costly and difficult to ship are on hand for such events. Of course a leader would have to bring a security detail and that is going to be costly but shipping vehicles just seems a bit extreme. I would have the same questions if it was a Liberal or NDP government. In this case I think as much "blame" should be put on the Indian government. I sure hope Canada got some payback for such a large cost :/
  9. Well at least you always have a customer, or do you hog all that weed you grow for yourself?
  10. I was to the point of not wanting to log on anymore. Then put 10 people onto ignore and the boards are readable again. Unfortunately ignore doesn't work in chat, so that's still unreadable, but the boards are much more readable now. That only gets you so far. Ignore can help you to get better at counting to ten and just arguing salient points. Eventually though ignore can make life terribly boring.
  11. I think this is cool if true. I thought he did some positive stuff in his limited action.
  12. But are you sure that you haven't done irreparable damage to yourself in this day and age? (I have posted a ton of stuff since the early 2000's, so I cannot say so )
  13. Well you have to understand that most forums are going to lean that way. You can either choose to feed it or walk away. If you find a forum too frustrating walk away. I do it all the time. Of course it doesn't always work out and you get stuck in a flame war but really the only way to ease your frustration with the extremes is to walk away. I would also add that trying your best to not get personal can go really far. I have seen and gotten personal but in the end I never really have any bad feelings and can't since I don't know any of you folks personally. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they are good people that are just frustrated for different reasons. I may not agree with what you say but that doesn't mean I think you are any less a good person or a fan.
  14. You make your own breaks. Winnipeg didn't and hasn't for a few years now. How many times have they strung two wins in a row in the last four years? How about three? Four? Five? Now how many time have we lost two in a row? Three? Four? Five or more? How many key games have they managed to win? I love the Bombers but they really need to figure out what almost every other team has figured out to build a competitive team. I will be in the stands again next year but they have a lot of serious work to do to convince less devoted fans to come (back). They have big bills to pay and the only way to pay them is actually fielding a good team and not a possibly slightly less crappy team. The stands are emptying and many devoted fans are walking away. It really is do or die.
  15. If you have everyone just positive or just negative you have a completely useless forum. You absolutely need both positive and negative outlooks. When I read the pure positive it makes me almost as frustrated as I am with coaches and management. There is nothing wrong with being positive but reading some of the positives on this forum you would think that this team is super close to being a GC team. Its confounding. I am tired of crappy and mediocre I want consistently good, meaning a winning record. I honestly believe that, with the right people in place, that can come in far less time than many of our management in the last 8 years have been telling us. Why should we wait when most other teams haven't. Yes Edmonton, Sask, and Hamilton had long runs of crappiness but when they got it all figured out it came quick and lasted more than a year. Why should Winnipeg be so different? I like positive folks but at times I think their even more deflating than negative ones. It would sure be nice if we could all go into the off season with the confidence that our Bombers will be back to actually challenge for top spots rather hoping we don't suck again.
  16. It may be overrated a bit but if you are always counting on the other teams to develop the talent then that is one less team contributing to the talent pool. that is a recipe for what we have now and that is a serious shortage of top flight QBs. I think what I am trying to say is you find them any way you can Well, yes but ultimately one of the best ways is not relying on other franchises to do it. Of course there is no guarantee you will be able to hang on to them for a long time but think of how much better off the league would be if every team was able to produce a decent starter and/or back-up on a regular basis? Listen to how many people on this site have commented on the lack of quality QB stock in the league in the last two years. I don't know about you but I would rather see a wealth of talent rather than four or five teams cranking out the majority of it. How much better would you feel knowing that our GM and coaches could crank out better quality QBs on a fairly regular basis? If you have a good scouting system and GM it goes a very long way to not only getting good young talent but attracting veteran talent.
  17. It is hard not to be when it has been rebuilding for a better part of 25 years and every other team in this league can do it better and faster. Two years is more than enough time to improve a team and this team hasn't even come close. Blow it up? No but it is really not a matter of a few tweaks. They have not been coached well in some time, both sides of the ball they need several players, and in two years our GM and scouts have not proven they can provide quality talent on a regular basis. I think people are a bit nuts if you think that just dumping MB is going to be the answer. Our defence was better than the O but they still surrendered an awful lot of points. They have to be near the bottom in pass yardage given up. They were absolutely brutal covering crossing plays, slants, outs and bombs. For cripes sake they gave up a TD with :38 seconds remaining in the first half of the last game. This teams needs as much work as it did when Mack was tossed out. Two years no significant improvement most of the same top pieces likely to return how am I supposed to draw any encouragement of a brighter future when there is little to prove that it can happen? I bet Saskatchewan, BC, and Montreal all improve faster than Winnipeg.
  18. It may be overrated a bit but if you are always counting on the other teams to develop the talent then that is one less team contributing to the talent pool. that is a recipe for what we have now and that is a serious shortage of top flight QBs.
  19. If your win loss record reflects who you retain as an assistant how can it not point to a problem with the HC decision making process? Who else was available? It was rumoured that Oshea had wanted MB out mid-season but was told no by walters or miller. Probably because nobody better was able to step into his role. Now, offseason at least gives us a fair chance to lure someone or bring someone else in.. Can anyone really argue against the fact that our offense was the biggest glaring issue on this team? If we had even an average offensive performance most nights we probably come close to .500 and a playoff betth. But, again, the question is going to be "What would the offense have looked like if Drew Willy was healthy for 18 games?" Is it MB or the lack of a competent starting QB? For what it's worth, I'm on the team that says a proper OC would find a way to keep DW from getting killed every game, and for that reason alone, MB needs to go. Better OCs have found ways to keep their QB healthy with worse talent than we have at OL. Honestly I doubt that Willy would have made much of a difference. His numbers were dropping off before he was hurt. The only games he MAY have made a difference in is in the Edmonton and Calgary games a few weeks ago. Even then who knows? Our receiving was sub-par this year, lots of drops. We had no running game. The offense was run the same way with Willy gone so that leads me to believe that there would have been likely no difference in our record. When you do the same thing over and over on offense it make the job of the defense super easy. Regardless, asking what if Willy was healthy really is moot. He wasn't and we did not have the talent to replace him. That is on MOS, Walters and the rest of the recruiting team. I have said it many times good teams find a way to win despite adversity. Teams like Hamilton and Calgary had some significant injuries or shear volumes were overwhelming and they came out on top. "What if Willy had been healthy." is nothing but an excuse.
  20. lol. Figures. He might be half decent then.
  21. Bet Walters is praying that he found a QB on his own
  22. Before the expansion draft I figured Ottawa would not be hurting our roster too much. I kinda agree I woulda taken a pass on selecting from Winnipeg. Anyone half decent was pretty much protected. Gambling on Kohlert was about the only option that was worthwhile.
  23. P Lirim Hajrullahu SB Nick Moore QB Matt Nichols LB Chris Randle DB Lin-J Shell OL Jace Daniels FB Michel-Pierre Pontbriand
  24. The teams with mediocre backups are responsible not the rules. IMHO I truly believe there enough rules protecting the QBs. The majority if not all injuries came on perfectly legal hits and a few on no hits at all. The only way to truly protect the QB from getting hurt is to make all contact on them illegal and just how fun would that be? Even if they did this QBs would STILL get hurt. Teams now, especially Winnipeg, should know they cannot expect their starter to last every single offensive play. As such they need to have a competent back-ups and give them reps in real games to get more experience.
  25. I don't believe he would be able to put the Bombers over the top.
