  1. I wish him luck.
  2. I know a guy...... Is it me? (Lol)
  3. lol. I would have to add the Tabbies to the list with Sask though. Don't like the team but they really have awesome fans so I would definitely be happy for those folks if the team hoisted the cup.
  4. Lets take a look at Higgins' career and record as a head coach:Higgins joined the Stampeders coaching staff, serving in many different capacities until becoming a head coach in 2001. Higgins became head coach of the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos later that year, leading the team to the playoffs in each of his four seasons. In 2002 and 2003, he won division titles, and he won a single Grey Cup as a head coach, with the Eskimos in 2003. In 2005 he returned to the Calgary Stampeders as head coach. He held this position for three years, making the playoffs in each, but with the team's record also declining each season. He was fired after a first round loss during the 2007 playoffs. And he was a very good coach in the CIS as well. Would folks here rather have this record or the Lapolice/Burke/O'Shea results? This record would have had fans here positively giddy. Making the playoffs is great but what concerns me the most with Higgins is you tend do not get above a certain point. When he went to Calgary he had a decent team to work with and, as you mention, a declining record and early exits from the playoffs. Based on what I have seen of Higgins does he give me confidence that he would be able to make this team any more than middling. He reminded me a lot of how MB was as HC in Hammy. I want a coach that can continually improves or maintains team and can even get the best out of a mediocre talent base. Higgins has made some very odd decisions in his time including sitting Bowman when he has really not lost a step.
  5. Couldn't agree more Mr. Dee.
  6. Austin complains about even minor or non-issues. He probably gave the league an earful when Collaros injured himself. What I find interesting is that you have nothing to say about Ottawa trying to take Nichols head off in the last game. He was in the grasp and going down and a second Ottawa player came in and hit Nichols high and was celebrating like crazy while Nichols was flat on his back and eventually had to take a knee. All I hear is how nasty Westerman is. I most certainly do not approve of his hit but he was fined and penalized and Burris was more than able to play on. Frankly, I was more disgusted with Hank gesturing towards the Bomber bench and then the defence. Not to mention the open season on Nichols in that game.
  7. So a would be defender would be penalized for using his arms/hands to trip up a QB trying to escape the pocket? No, only if the qb is in the process of throwing IN THE POCKET. That will not prevent injuries to the QB. You will still have players, including their own players, falling on the QB, you will get OLinemen push more defenders down in order to get the low hit. Right now there is already a low hit rule that is supposed to be enforced, and, in the case of Westerman, was enforced and he was fined. I think it is near impossible to know for sure whether a player was intending to injure which is why you see guys like Westerman not getting suspensions. In general it is very hard for a player to get suspended and that is mostly because of the CFLPA. They declawed that rule completely.
  8. So did Collaros. I completely agree there really is not much more the league can do. They already watch the QB so much that miss plenty of calls on the line/ in the backfield. There hasn't been a QB injured this year that the rules could have prevented. You can have all the rules you want and it wouldn't prevent injuries. Well I guess they could place the QB in one of those bubble soccer balls. That might hinder the passing game though.
  9. Some are saying that isn't a good thing. Guess we'll have to see. While I am not a fan of all the commentators or how they do some things TSN has still done a very good job of covering the league. I doubt that Orridge could have gotten more money for the league by putting the contract up for bids. With what Rogers paid for the NHL and their quick dumping of other contracts like UFC I highly doubt that they would have upped the bid and CBC is in no position to bid and I doubt Shaw was going to bid. In this case I think stability and familiarity was a very good choice. Maybe when the extension is up it will be a time for open bids.
  10. Absolutely why. The CFL doesn't have the money the other leagues do. It is still a fan driven, butts in the seats league so definitely the Commisioner has to be out there shaking hands & talking to everyone. Bettman & especially Goodell don't have to speak to anyone. Orridge should be at as many games as he can every weekend. Be on local radio & television talking it up all season long. He should be begging to do interviews. Like I said just give him a chance. I, personally, do not feel it should be his job to sell the league to FANS, though it certainly does not hurt to get out and regularly meet them. I wouldn't expect him to do it every weekend. The guy needs to get time off as well. Now trying to come up with ideas to sell the league is something I would expect but I sure as heck would not leave it all up to him. That starts first and foremost with each team. Teams can do WAAAAAY more to sell the league than CFL head office. However, I do think corporate-wise Orridge and co. should sell the league. I would also expect Orridge to have very good relationships with each team and be able to work with them and get each team to work with each other well. Again getting out and rubbing shoulders with fans is good but if our management doesn't do it, or do it on a regular basis, why should the burden be on the commish? When the current regime came into power here I used to see Bell, Miller and co. regularly now they are invisible. They have been fairly invisible or even not cordial to the press. So, again, why should the burden fall on Orridge?
  11. Well it would show all those folks who believe in Walters building takes time theory is total bunk.
  12. I do not give Walters any chances. I never have. I wasn't in favour of him getting the job. I have never been a fan of Higgins, especially when he was the officiating head office.
  13. How do you know? Just by being less a fan person? BTW there was also a game this year where the TSN guys had Orridge in the booth with him. He sounds like a decent guy. He actually had something to say rather than the same smile and BS answers that Cohon gave.
  14. Maybe they will turn their attention to Lawrence then. They were still Tweeting about Westerman yesterday (and every day last week).
  15. Cohon spent more time brown-nosing with fans than doing his job. He was a politician. He was good at disguising that he didn't do much. Give Orridge a chance he hasn't even been in the job a year.
  16. He was a .500 coach and GM in Calgary and when they moved him out they became the dominant team they are now. If you want middling you go Higgins.
  17. Not angry at all. Despite all of their bitching about the Westerman hit this week and playing up that Burris was hurt I would rather see them win than the Tabbies.
  18. Why have most people not figured out that Higgins sucks? The only success he had was largely because of the people before him building decent teams.
  19. He did a tour of all teams facilities this year he was in Winnipeg in the summer sometime and was part of some presentation. The game before that I saw him on the TV at another game. Not sure what the job of the commissioner is exactly but all I know is that under Cohon this league tanked quite a bit.
  20. Hard to believe but there are coaching candidates out there. Miller likes finding assistant coaches so finding a head coach should be a huge thrill for him. They are going to have to lure him away from this tray of Hoagies first.
  21. ROFLMAO! Walters needs a guide just to find his way out of bed every day. How is he going to find a good player on his own? I think he might find one good player for every 30 he brings in. most of his good players were already known commodities.
  22. Our season was done before it started. Mack Junior assured that. Yeah, he's really got to pick it up as well. Anyone know what he's got left on his contract? Entirely too much time. Proven crap running the show means little hope for 2016. Perhaps 3-15 season will stimulate Miller to put down that tray of Hoagies and get serious in fixing this franchise.
  23. Uprights aren't in the scoring area, no points. If I am not mistaken, this is not entirely true. You can hit the upright and if it goes through it still counts.
