  1. At least we didn't have to take Bickel in return really interested to see what theconditional pick will be guess will have to wait till after the Hawks win the cup, can't see Ladd resigning with Chicago
  2. Lots of banter that the Hawks are looking at Enstrom
  3. Sometimes the best deal you gonna get happens early, some teams will give it there best shot if rejected set there sights on another player. If Chevy is asking for the moon the trade deadline may come and he won't have a dance partner.
  4. If this many teams have interest in Ladd, Chevy has a lot of work ahead of him playing one team against the other, this is the best possible scenario as one team might over over pay so another team does not get Ladd. Playoffs are big business the farther you go the more dough you make oh and you have a chance to win the cup
  5. I may be wrong but i think that 1 of the panelist's on TSN said that Ladd's starting point was 7.2 million, if this is true then Ladd had no intention of signing with the Jets because he knew they would never give him anything close to that. The end game for Ladd from the beginning was to become a free agent, of course he has said all the politically correct answers about the city and team but in reality he wants to win another cup and that's not gonna happen here in the next 5 years. This could become a big problem for the Jets if they don't put together a playoff contender quick as the impending UFA's will look to get out.
  6. Again if Pavelec is here next year and yes i know he is signed he will be the starting goalie because of salary only and we will be in the bottom 5 again.
  7. Ladd can say all the right things about the city and about the team but in the end he is 30 years old and this is his last contract so he wants max dollars and truthfully i don't think he cares where he plays as long as he gets the money he is looking for, will he get it as a free agent, does he even become a free agent we will see.
  8. If there have been no contract discussions since December and the Jets are dead set at trading Ladd, why is he playing tonight if he gets injured nothing happens at the deadline and Ladd will hold all the power you will have to give him what he wants or he will walk and the Jets get nothing. Since he is playing i believe the Jets have not closed the door yet and there is a possibility that he will be signed soon.
  9. Calgary will need a goalie for next year as all their's are free agent's next year and frankly are not very good, we already have next years tender playing for the Moose so it makes sense the Jets try to move Pavs. Micheal Ferland would be a good payment from Calgary, not interested in any of there goalie's As for Ladd it sure looks like it's Florida and Chicago but we need another team to really get the bidding up.
  10. Blue Jays problems aren't going to be easy with the low loonie and Bautista going loco and if rumours are true 30mil for 5 is just that.
  11. Lets hope that Chevy can squeeze a little more out of his old employer.
  12. I guess it depends on what Ladd and his agent are looking for as a free agent and if he likes the team he is traded to and the team has cap money for it, also i have a bad feeling that Chevy might not get what he wants in return and is forced to sign Ladd to an extension. I guess he could get traded then resign here doesn't happen very often but it has happen recently with Arizona last year.
  13. Remember that Ladd would be a pure rental they will not be signing him as a free agent.
  14. It's great for Leaf fans to think that stockpiling picks is great but you have to understand that eventually those picks needs to be signed and you are allowed 50 contracts at on time.
  15. From what i have read Morrissey is progressing quite well with the moose, a guy with his hockey iq will figure it out, i think he's ready for next year, as for Ladd 1st and a prospect is what the Jets are looking for, some teams have already said that they will not be dealing prospects this year, Pittsburgh is one team on record as saying they need to build up there prospect pool. Chicago and Anaheim and Washington's pick will be 25-30 so they would have to add a almost ready NHL prospect.
  16. The only way he gets that from the Jets is if Chevy doesn't get the offers he expects and wants, but yeah keeping him makes us no better a hockey team and may hamper the salary cap in terms of other signings if the cap goes down.
  17. I like that they worked Helle that hard it gave them an idea of what he could do in the NHL with a heavy workload and i think they were very happy with what they saw, moving forward we are set in net, as for core guys most of the roster will be different in 5 years that's why it's really important to get a top 5 five pick this year and maybe next year, players who will hopefully become that cornerstone 's for years to come and be part of a team contending for the cup.
  18. While i agree to a point about Florida and what they have done in the last few years, they have played 21 seasons a been in the playoffs 4 times, personally would rather follow models set up like Chicago, Anaheim , and LA where you have a core of 4-5 players and the rest are moved out and replaced as needed. Moving forward we need to find 4-5 core guys and at the moment looking at our NHL roster i see only 2-3 who could be core guys who will still be here in 5 years.
  19. JMO but when the Jets become contenders Maurice will not be the head coach, Chevy could be long gone to.
  20. First time around was a not all that successful except for Baltimore as TUP said the ratio would be a more of a concern this time around especially with some of the teams that are struggling cant see expansion unless they get rid of the import rule or we just become a minor league feeder system for the NFL, and i don't think any of us wants that.
  21. That's what happens when a owner puts a gun to the county and says give me what i what or i leave and the county says leave. Moving to Brooklyn was a big mistake considering the arena was totally inadequate for the hockey fans. I don't know what the big hangup on size is i would rather have 13-14 k seats full of fans with higher tickets prices than a 19k building 3/4 full at discounted tickets.
  22. Toronto is just god awful and Edmonton has McDavid i don't know how a team can be so bad with that many top end picks, so yeah we won't beat them to the bottom but we don't need to luck of the lottery is all we need.
  23. Pavs back in spades , sad that Beyak thinks it's an a victory that we are out shooting TB. Tampa had a 5 minute stretch of good play and there up by 3, Jets coaches looked defeated going into the locker room.
  24. This team needs a shake up and i don't mean just trading Ladd .
