Signing Ladd to long term contract with big money would be a huge mistake, at the moment his play doesn't warrrant 1st line minutes but in the coming years with a cap friendly contract he would be a very serviceable 3rd liner. Personally I would trade him this team is not built to win this year or even next so why pay guys big money for more of the same results. Big money should go to players that will get you to the playoffs and keep getting you there year after year not one and done.

Coming off the surgery that he had in the off season if his agent was offered the 6x6 contract and refused he should have fired him because he will not get that kind of an offer from the Jets or probably any other team.

While i agree with you on players desire to play in Winnipeg my thoughts on Johanson diiffer and i point out Tyler Sequin as a prime example that has a lot of the attributes that you have associated with Johanson but has turned it around in Dallas. Not saying that the same will happen with him but sometimes things just click at different times of ones life. Anyways as you say we got next to no chance to get him just not the blueprint for this team.

I don't think that Scheifele took a bad penalty on that play i like a player that comes to the defense of a teammate when the ref doesn't make a call he should you can't hit players when you see their numbers against the boards, up to the penalty killers to do there job. At this point in his career Trouba is not worth what he is asking for, not even close. Once he and his agent gets off the meds they will sign a 2 year 4 mil. bridge contract, just hasn't done enough to warrant a long term contract yet. That's the problem Chevy created by not signing them to extensions during the off season. Will it work out for him nobody knows and Rich is right there are not to many dance partners at the moment. Injuries scare me but a season ending injury to these guys would be devastating no picks no players in return nothing except the possibility of signing them to what they want if they want. It would be so much easier if they could go on a winning streak but that's not going to happen so i will wait and hope for a decent returned.

Writing probably on the wall for both Buff and Ladd, one won't sign and the other supposedly has not had any talks, if this is the case the Jets cannot risk these guys getting injured and being out for the rest of the season, they'll lose both for nothing or be forced to signed them for some not friendly contracts. If they won't signed to a contract the Jets are comfortable with Chevy must trade both ASAP for the good of the team and move on with Wheeler Scheifele and Trouba as the main players and leaders.
