What a privileged life some people live, to be able to pick and choose which vaccine to get... as has been stated many times before by many people, the best vaccine to get is the first one that's offered to you.

1) Blood clots are treatable 2) The chance of blood clots from AZ is somewhere between 5 and 10 in a million (seen a few different reports, but all are less than 10) 3) The chance of a blood clot from smoking is 1,753 in a million 4) The chance of a blood clot from Covid-19 is 169,000 in a million Anyone who uses the chance of a blood clot as a reason not to get the AZ vaccine is buying into ridiculous fear.

I'm starting to question the validity of the reports of vaccine hesitancy. I've spent the better part of the last few hours trying to get an appointment, and they are few and far between. Managed to get in to the Walmart in Steinbach on Friday 😀

The biggest "effort" I've seen to that effect is having the higher profile people (Dr. Roussen, Premier Pallister, etc.) getting their AstraZenecca vaccinations posted online and on the news.

Here's the website for Shoppers/Loblaws: https://shoppers-drug-mart.c.eforms.loblaw.ca/#/covid/covid-19-vaccine-patient-registration/Welcome/0?lang=en They aren't updated yet with the new criteria though.

Just saw this at the bottom of the Eligibility Criteria website: Medical Clinics and Pharmacies The AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD vaccine is used to provide COVID-19 vaccines in doctors’ offices and pharmacies. Manitoba public health officials have developed guidance for the use of the AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine. If you are a senior or have mobility issues and need help getting to your appointment at a clinic or pharmacy, call 211 for available transportation options in your area. Eligibility Criteria Effective April 19, 2021 - all Manitobans aged 40 and over will be eligible to receive the AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine at a medical clinic or pharmacy. Eligible Manitobans can find their nearest clinic or pharmacy with available doses by visiting: manitoba.ca/covid19/vaccine/finder.html

That should be a variant, not the variant... there are a few of them floating around (South Africa, UK, Brazil). My understanding is that the Brazil one is the one of most concern, and hasn't arrived in Manitoba yet, but it's likely just a matter of time.

Eligible ages are going down again per the Eligibility Website Individuals: 64 years of age and older (NEW: expanded from aged 65 or older) 44 years of age and older for First Nation people (NEW: expanded from aged 45 or older)

As evidenced by the sheer number of people who seem to ignore the guidelines, I would agree with this. There is a pent up desire among a lot of people to get out and socialize, so I expect that as things continue to open up, most people will be out and about more and more.

Some really good news, if they are able to make it happen: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/manitoba-covid-19-vaccine-timeline-1.5938069

So a few refs make some bad calls, but because the female ref made one of the questionable calls, you're questioning whether she should have even been there? What about the refs who made the other questionable calls, should they have been working that game? 🤔 In real time, that one looked to me like a good call, but when they showed the replay you could see that the receiver basically tripped on his own feet. The ref who threw the flag (at least the one that I saw) would have had the receiver running straight at him (or her, not sure which ref was in that spot) and it definitely could have looked like he was tripped up by the defender at that angle. Definitely the wrong call was made, but based on the angles, I can see how it might have looked like interference.

I'm wondering if the delay in signing Harris is that he's taking the team first attitude and letting Walters take care of signing the rest of the team and then Harris is willing to come in and "take what's left" as it were for his salary.

And they got to skip over all of the usual waiting between trials because they already had the funding that they usually have to wait on. The actual trial steps were complete.

It starts at the 1:00:40 mark.

Don't think so... see my message above. Apparently everything is as usual without the red tape and time consuming process of getting money approved. Everything else is following proper protocols. Unfortunately I don't have a source for that, I think I heard it on CBC radio a week or so back.
-
I've heard that another contributing factor was that nobody had to stop between stages to try and raise money for the next stage because it had already been allocated, unlike when they are doing other vaccines. All of the trials and stages are taking the usual amount of time without the red tape to slow things down.

This is why I don't get all that excited when I see a decrease over 1 or 2 days...

I do wonder how many of the people at the rally were actually from Steinbach though. From what I heard, a good number of the people there were from Winnipeg. It does raise the question of why the test positivity rate is so high, but on the news they have been saying that even the Winnipeg percentage skews high "because of the smaller population" vs. all of Manitoba.

My concern as well. I think it sucks that kinds sports has been shut down. From what I've heard, some of the newest cases have been due to adult rec leagues where people aren't really following the guidelines and/or going out for a beer after their games. Crappy that the kids have to suffer because a bunch of adults are irresponsible.
-
Personally, I don't see the value/need to shutdown schools. If that's where it's spreading, then maybe, but that doesn't seem to be the case. If they need to bring in stricter measures for certain schools where it is spreading, then that makes sense to me. The measures need to be targeted to where the virus is being spread (and no, I don't know where that is, but I presume that the contact tracing shows that.

I find it a little ironic that people who are wearing shirts that say HUGS OVER MASKS are so angry.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I was referring to the people who have sick days and come to work anyway bragging about "never having to take a sick day". I totally get the ones working paycheck to paycheck who literally can't afford to take a sick day because they don't get paid... I don't feel like they are acting like heroes, as they don't have much choice.
-
You are right, some workplaces have created that culture with bosses who shame their employees for taking time off. I will admit that in my younger days, I did some of it myself, but as I've aged, I've realized that I don't want to be around people who are sick at work, and they probably feel the same way (for the most part).
-
I think the worst are those who act like heroes by coming in to work when they are sick and then brag about how they've never taken a sick day.
