  1. Roughing the passer.
  2. The opposite can be said and be equally true... Playing it safe will have a big impact on the team, if it backfires, it can end up costing the team. Playing passively and taking few risks can work to prevent big plays, but you can also give up big plays. I too can throw a bunch of words together and not say anything at all.
  3. What does that mean?
  4. Yeah.... maybe Harris was a RB... so, yeah... it was fine... all good... Riders are awesome...
  5. I would not have given up two there. Best the Rider offence can get is three points tonight. Now, they have a chance to take the lead.
  6. I can't believe Texas is going to win. 😮
  7. But, of course, the replay show's him about 4.5 yards away and TSN tries to sell it when he was 3 yards away. He was further than I thought when it was caught.
  8. That should have been no-yards. But, you can count on TSN to point out anything that should go against the Riders. Blind to everything else... just like the refs.
  9. It was the angle from the end-zone.
  10. But, the live game action and the first replay showed it glaringly, right in front of the ref, right in the middle of the play. I expect nothing else from the CFL.
  11. It was the most obvious call I've seen all game. I thought they automatically reviewed all scoring plays?
  12. I kind of agree; however, I would like to lock him up longterm to lower the AAV. If the AAV goes down, say $2M, cause it's a longterm deal that covers some RFA and UFA years, then I think it helps the team down the road. If you bridge him now, then you'll have to pay the man a larger AAV, when you have a bunch of other big time contracts to pay too.
  13. It's just the usual, "why didn't she come forward before argument" that's completely horrendous. Anyone that comes forward, at any point, gets ripped up by the media and the right. You know it and they pretend not to. They attack them, so that they won't come forward. It's all deflection and whataboutism. Status quo.
  14. I'm not sure I understand your question... If you're asking if I think Trouba's deal was low? I do. I think, comparably, he probably deserved more. However, when you're an RFA without arbitration, you get what you get and you don't get upset. He could have signed a long term deal and made more. He took his chances and I'm not sure his stock has risen as much as he thinks it would have. Also, Trouba held out and lost a bunch of time. Did it hurt him longterm? Can't tell. But missing camp and a bunch of games has to hurt some.
  15. Multiple reports suggest he has both offers (short and long) in front of him. If he wants short, he needs to accept the low end cash he's going to get. Trouba figured that out rather late.
  16. Carter: Hold my dime bag...
  17. I think the situation in Calgary is very different from Winnipeg. Yes, we needed a new arena but the economics of the league and the soft dollar were really challenging the Jets, and all Canadian teams, at the time. Finding an owner who was willing to take on the financial risk and, likely, loss was impossible. Now that economics have been resolved, via the profit-sharing salary cap, this is about owners taking on minimal risk while getting a brand new arena (economic driver). It's about getting more for less. That being said, I don't think either team is at risk of being relocated. I could see an ownership change in Ottawa but then Melnyk would not get the attention he does now. The only way he sells is if he cannot keep the cash flow positive and the league pressures him. I can't speak to the economics of the Calgary situation but it would appear as though the owners have bad timing. When the economy in Alberta was booming, Calgary was expanding like crazy, building tons infrastructure (public and private). I'm not sure if it would have been more palatable for the City to pay a big portion of the a new arena or if the population would have always been as resistant as they seem now. Maybe some of the Calgarians on this board could provide insight.
  18. How long until Detroit trades Zetterberg to Arizona?
  19. Ottawa has a terrible owner who meddles in the team. That's a problem and it creates a whole load of other problems. There is also a question about Melnyk's liquidity. On paper, he's worth a lot but cash flow is often an issue. The arena is built too far away from downtown and is not easily accessible for a lot of fans. It's a huge arena, so there are always (often?) unsold tickets. Calgary is looking for a new arena and the owners want public money to pay for a large portion of the building. They'll sort that out but it has become ugly. The owners, if I've read it right, are losing the PR battle with the public.
  20. Ironically, the Sens actually have a decent group of young players. They'll be fine on the ice. The gong show off the ice is another story.
  21. That's a huge return for the Sens. They get a first rounder in 2019, which helps them. I'll be surprised if the SJ does not make an immediate announcement of an extension. I think that's too much, personally. I think SJ has mortgaged their future and I'm not convinced their window is now. How's Karlsson's health going to hold up? And they still have the Bobby Ryan boat anchor.
  22. It is a third jersey, so it should be unique without being offensive. May have a winner.
  23. I like that they've kept it simple but I feel like it's missing something. The more I look at it, though, the more I like it.
  24. It will be challenged through the courts and the courts will toss it out. There is no justification for limiting homegrown marijuana.
  25. MCU has done a good job with actor continuity with the exception of the Terrence Howard/Don Cheadle - James Rhodes mess. (Howard will always be Rhodes to me) DC? Not so much. DC has so much great source material. So many epic story lines that they could have drawn on.
