First, let me say that I am in complete agreement with this proposal. When government can invest, without having to expand their footprint, into a stable, well thought out infrastructure project, it should. That being said, government's of all levels have put lots of money and faith into these types of projects in the past and never seen the return that was projected. Meanwhile, the tax payers foot the bill and let businesses off without bearing the risk. Sometimes it works out. Sometimes you have to wonder if government is eating too much. I wonder if Sam would have built the ball park with less from the city? What happens when property taxes start to be collected on that prime land? I love that park and think it's in the perfect place. But I'm also a sports fan. I have been in the room when businesses threaten to pick up and move if they don't get the "break" they are looking for. Politicians are squeezed from both sides and you can never be certain if the business is serious or bluffing. It's always very tricky and highly politicized. Anyhow, this is great deal for both sides, I think.

But they're paying him league minimum. It's fair to say that if other teams valued him as a back-up, they would have recruited him too. Maybe he had multiple offers but obviously for not much more money. Not saying that he's not going to be good but I practiced with Todd McCullough and doesn't make me an NBA player.

Yes, I was thinking Karlsson and typing Marchessault.
-
If Marchessault gets anywhere near 40 again this year, they're going to have to go closer to $10, I think. $9, at least.
-
Just win, baby.

The pick was problematic, for sure, but I don't think he was wrong to trade Heath. He must have seen his deficiencies or, at least, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. I doubt he thought it would be a first overall pick. Milanovich was a big fan of Willy and, obviously, thought he could turn him around. Barker might have relied on his opinion. I'm not defending the trade just looking at it with some hindsight and understanding of what they might have been thinking at the time. It was still a bad trade.

The first time she did it, I thought it was a stretch to suggest she did it on purpose. Maybe she did but highly unlikely. This time she's obviously trolling. Ridiculous to do so during these hearings.

The Labour Day leftovers. Must suck being a Lions fan and not being able to get excited about back-to-back rivalry games starting Labour Day weekend? The CFL needs to get a team in the Atlantic provinces just to let BC play. It would be a perfect rivalry. Left Coast vs Right Coast. Anyhow, I'm interested to see how Ottawa bounces back. I think a rested BC team will beat Les RougeNoirs.

Or could it be that they've seen the film and know that lots of the mistakes that occurring are not just on Nichols?

MOS recently addressed Hurl. He didn't praise his skill, he praised his work ethic. Said that he worked non-stop, harder than anyone else on the field. They obviously didn't grade him that high or he would have been back.
-
That's what I would say too! 😉
-
Yeah, that's a bit of a head-scratcher. I'm very excited too!

I think that has more to do with how Little bounces back. If he plays at his 2017-18 level, I think they'll get Roslo in there. Otherwise, who do they have?
-
Quote from Vesa said that he was happy to have clause just in case he doesn't settle in. Hopefully, that won't be an issue and the enticement of being called up to the big club, assuming he starts with the Moose, is too good.
-
Didn't realize this until Mike McIntyre posted it on Twitter but Vesalainen can return to Europe if he doesn't make the Jets. So, maybe he plays another year in Europe?
-
But do you play Poolman more if you're going "all in" this year? I understand that you want to be prepared for the future but you have this tiny window, where the stars have aligned, where you'll have Trouba and Myers available along the right side.

Outlaw King is opening TIFF this year. https://www.tiff.net/tiff/outlaw-king/

Interesting, no Niku... No Vesalainen I guess that makes sense for Niku because it's going to be hard to fit him in with the established players on one-way deals. Lemieux... Is he ready? I have not been particularly impressed by him when I've seen him. But, could he be worse than Dano? I don't expect to see him much. Probably on the roster but up in the box. No one believes Petan makes this team?
-
I think they should limit him to 58-60 starts. That's an extra game off per week for the last two months of the season. And nowhere near 30 games.
-
I think they try to back off a bit on that, seeing as he slowed down so much during the playoffs. He looked tired when they got the Western Conference Final.
-
Connor Scheifele Wheeler Ehlers Little Laine Perreault Roslovic Vesalainen Copp Lowry Tanev Morrissey Buff Niku Trouba Kulikov Myers A slight variation on Sweep The Leg's lines. I could also see Niku with Myers.

I think Omega would be the draw that might entice my friends. However, these are guys that used to be huge fans, went to lots of local indie promos here and watched wrestling on TV. They never got into ECW or WCW (and all the non-WWE promotions) like I did. I loved those promotions to provide something different and unique. But, we're older now, with young fams, and don't watch wrestling. I follow it mostly through the odd word of mouth and read the odd article through this thread. This thread is my main source of wrestling news. Getting them out means that they're trading off something else and we're going to Headstones in November. Like I said, it's tough to get out. I would like to go because I know it would be great and seeing the top performing wrestler in the world would be interesting. Helps that he's a local. The Bucks would be a bonus.

And loves to send his players out on fools' errands that get people hurt.

I'm not sure. I guess it depends on training camp and how much they expect to ride Helle? If Helle is going to start a ton over the first few months, they may have Comrie start with the Moose, so he gets his playing time in. Anyone else have a better sense of what the plan is?
-
Comrie has one year to prove he can be a solid back-up when called upon. I think he backs up Helle all year and gets 20(ish) games.
