  1. I enjoy Hnidy's commentary and evaluation. I think, as an analyst, he does a pretty good job pointing out weaknesses and explaining perspectives from the player's point-of-view. A lot like JP Vigier and Trevor Kidd. Obviously, he won't be too critical of any players. He travels and works with them almost every day. He needs to maintain his relationships. Beyak is a complete waste. He makes excuses for players, coaches and management. Only time he'll 'criticize' a player's performance is when he's echoing PoMo's talking points. I turn off the radio when he and Paul Edmonds are on. It's sounds so vanilla and uninformative. No value added.
  2. Maybe the penalty kill? He should probably not dress him at all, so he can see the game from a different perspective.
  3. Just next year. Then it's a modified NTC, with 14 approved teams. You can always ask him to waive it.
  4. It's getting close but games played/remaining is an important factor here. Of course, we should probably assume that these teams are just going to drop points now.
  5. It was fun. My buddy and I got to go and use his dad's season tickets. It was crazy out there and the arena was very, oddly, quiet and hollow. EDIT: I remember it was my first and only Devils game. They only came once a year (maybe once every two years?) and my friend's father always scooped them up. It was very odd, quiet and hollow sounding Winnipeg Arena. My friend's dad got tied up with a work-related thing. It was a Sunday and I remember he had to pick us up after and grumbled about missing the game for months after. Final score Jets 8 and Devils 1. The same season, the Devils played the Flames in front of 334 people during a huge storm.
  6. Also, there were a couple of days of conversation lost.
  7. Just heard a Little quote saying that they were happy to get out on the road again. Yeah, I bet. Not much pressure when you're on the road! Nice if they would have shown up for the last home game.
  8. If we traded down like that, we could still grab Vandervoort at 3, thus avoiding the worst ever first overall pick, eva! I don't think BC would do it, but it would makes things interesting having 3, 6, and 7.
  9. Poolman plays on the right, no? And, even if he gets a couple of games with the Jets this year, he'll need a season or two in the AHL before he's ready to jump. If he's ever ready to jump!
  10. They have a starter and another coming up through the system. They need a quality back-up. We're, what, 7th in the league in scoring? How many games did our defensemen miss this year? Again, what's the problem with the salary?
  11. So, what's your point? We know the Jets don't/won't spend to the cap. How exactly are the Jets hooped and how is it Chevy's fault?
  12. Jets have ~$18M of cap space for next year and no major UFA/RFA re-signings required. How is this team 'hooped'? Biggest off-season signing will be a quality back-up (1B) goaltender.
  13. Bonus money counts again the cap, correct? So, if he gets cut, that costs Riders no matter if he gets cut before the start of the season. I wonder how much he got upfront? I believe Glenn got $80,000.
  14. But Petan is not learning a thing by sitting upstairs (IMO). He would be better served dressing and being on the ice, or better yet, down with the Moose getting more minutes. Someone else can come up and contribute. Why not Lemieux? Not like he's getting a ton of ice time with the Moose. Let's give him a taste of NHL.
  15. Thorbs has 4 in 51? Thorbs does nothing but takes up a roster spot.
  16. NHLPA is equally complicit. NHL/NHLPA won't do anything. Never do. And I disagree about Thorbs. Two skilled players sat because these two goons needed to have their fight.
  17. What's he going to say? PoMo runs Thorbs out and Poluso (until this season) out. The NHL doesn't care about player safety and neither does the NLHPA. That leaves PoMo sounding ridiculous if he complains.
  18. PoMo is waiting until April before unleashing Laine!
  19. Reilly has been hit a lot and hurt a lot. The way he currently plays the game means he gets hit a lot more than someone like Calvillo or Burris. I don't think anyone is saying Reilly is not a great QB (some may be suggesting that) but that the way he plays, he's at greater risk of having a career shortening injury. Maybe he changes his style and protects himself more.
  20. For Bomber fans? The experiment ends in spring training and we don't get to experience Vinc-anity up close.
  21. I'm inclined to agree about Franklin vs Reilly. I doubt Reilly would restructure and I bet several teams (named Riders or Argos) would be happy to take him. I would hate to let Reilly go and have him beat you up for several years. But, a plethora of riches would be nice.
  22. That's going to be a challenge but I agree. How do you afford to extend him to a contract that he could likely get on the open market? If he gets significant time on the field this year (and performs), he'll need near-starter money. Edmonton will have some tough decisions to make.
  23. Nothing. The whole revenge thing is stupid and so is expecting that Thorburn, who's avoiding the tough-guy, fighter role will do anything now. Thorburn should be in the press box until his contract expires. But there seems to be an expectation around Winnipeg that the Jets are going to get rough with Malkin and the Pens tonight. If this Jets team is ACTUALLY worried about 'revenge' on the Pens, then they're not focused on their job. (I don't think the Jets are too worried about revenge on Malkin and the Pens tonight, BTW)
  24. And do what? The team didn't anything when it happened. I doubt they'll do anything now.
  25. Just anger, not sanity. The pitchforks are out and they haven't even lost a game yet this season. Wait until The Vince Young Experience rolls into town.
