  1. I think losing Perreault or Lowry in the expansion draft would be a huge waste of an asset, which is why I would prefer to move one of them before that and get something in return. Even a third pairing defenseman would be an improvement. I would prefer to move Perreault and keep Lowry because I believe you could get more for Perreault. I also see Lowry as an ideal 3rd/4th line centre for this team. He can also play wing. If you could get the same return for Lowry, I would consider it.
  2. You're not losing anything. When I trade money for a product, I'm not losing money. Protect Perreault and let Lowry get taken? That would be crazy. What a waste of an asset. That's just losing.
  3. Losing something suggests not getting something in exchange. It's a trade. And, you need to make room for some of the youth coming through anyhow. No, I'm not suggesting we get a Lowry/Armia in exchange. And, by your logic, why would we give away Perreault's 40 points a season for nothing?
  4. But you're not losing anything in a trade. There's no reason you can't get a NHL ready prospect back in return (that's expansion draft protected). And, there's no reason you can't flip those assets into another piece this summer.
  5. Poolman is a prospect. Stanley is a good prospect.
  6. Perreault has more value, so you could actually get something and steer the Vegas to a lower value player. Also, then you can protect Lowry. I'd rather lose Armia for nothing over Perreault.
  7. I can't argue with that. I can see Chevy moving some players before the trade deadline, rather than losing them in the expansion draft. Yes, we don't know if Vegas would take Perreault but they certainly could. If you move him, for, let's say a prospect or pick, it lets you protect someone else on the depth chart and gives you something in return. Now, I wouldn't move an important, non-replaceable piece (in our current organization), without getting an NHLer in return.
  8. I agree. I'm assuming this is wishful thinking. Although, if you could get Huberdeau, it would allow you to move a lot of other players, like Connor. Also, given that he has a six-year deal starting this summer, you could certainly plan your cap space going forward.
  9. Ah, yes, I see they extended him last summer. Still, how to fit him in? And, why would Florida trade him??
  10. $6.5M over two years, per Cap Friendly. https://www.capfriendly.com/players/jonathan-huberdeau
  11. I think he's an RFA this summer. He signed a two-year bridge deal for $7M before last year, no? I was incorrect.
  12. But to give-up a potential top ten pick (with a lottery chance at number one) for Huberdeau? You're going to have to pay him a lot this summer to lock him up long-term. And, I'm not sure where he fits on our left side. Maybe you can move Connor for a young D this offseason?
  13. But Matthews' line mates.... /s
  14. No one voting watches all the games.
  15. Disney knows how to build brands. It's not like Lucas didn't have a whole host of Star Wars gimmicks: The 2 Endor movies, Xmas Specials, Droids, etc.
  16. TSN was gushing about Matthews yesterday. Bob made a few good points. As I've said, the Calder was decided on draft day and now the Toronto Sports Network (and all other TO based hockey media) are doing everything they can to justify it. Do I think Matthews has had a better season? Yes. But Laine would need to win the rookie point race by 20, Jets make the playoffs and the Leafs miss-out for the media to change their vote.
  17. But Popp was also undermined by the owner, right? I'm forgetting the timeline but it seems like everything truly fell apart AFTER he named himself HC. Well, everything started falling apart when Calvillo retired...
  18. Part of the reason Ewen as Obi Wan worked so well, was the huge age gap of the character. Also, Alec wasn't on screen that much after IV. Now we've got a scenario where Han will be played during a similar age as Ford initially played him. Within 5-10 years, I think?
  19. I feel like we're in Captain Kirk - William Shatner - Chris Pine territory here. I'm still not sure how I feel about the whole thing, even though I think Pine has done a good job as an alternate-universe Kirk.
  20. And scores a goal. Great for Zajac!
  21. Now the tanking is in the hands of others with all those games in hand.
  22. I said the Esks won 11 games last year. They did. Not sure why I would need your posts to correct me, when you're wrong. They won 11 games and lost 9. We won 11 and lost 8. Not sure why you don't count the playoffs now. You're the one claiming being the crossover loser is such a heroic achievement.
