  1. But you can't play in the A next year. Hutch can.
  2. Well, Pav got the Jets into the playoffs exactly once. And, only after Hutch carried this team for a long stretch.
  3. Not a problem but, rather, an opportunity for Trump! Propaganda was made for taglines, short clips and sound bites. It's perfect for Twitter. This is great article from the Atlantic, which I'm not if it's been posted yet here. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/03/how-to-build-an-autocracy/513872/ It doesn't describe what will happen but what could happen. It's a bit over the top in how generalizes the impact of 4 years of Trump but it gives you a sense of a roadmap that he could follow and how voters could follow him. It's interesting, scary, not that far fetched and still unlikely.
  4. But it's the noise that dilutes the impact of the media. If everyone is talking, no one is listening. And, how can you possibly believe everything you read on social media or in the media, right? One the most poignant things I read was about the impact on youth. If Twitter and Facebook are filled with the non-stop political discourse that's been going for the past year, the youth are likely to leave and go to Snapchat and Instagram. It's just too overwhelming. Once they're not engaged, they're less likely to vote and affect change.
  5. Problem they have is they need to seriously put that curve into gov't spending. By taking on further debt to bailout Hydro, they'll need to finance that somehow. Costs continue to rise and revenues are not increasing. Eventually, they'll have to back off on the PST reduction, raise taxes or allow rates to climb. Or, maybe a combination of all three. They're stuck.
  6. That's disappointing. I really liked Bass and his story. I'm not down on Knox or anything, just a personal like of Bass. I hope he eats up a ton cap space for someone else and gets a monster contract.
  7. What's easier for the Conservatives - raising taxes to 'bailout' Hydro or let Hydro raise rates? They campaigned on not raising taxes.
  8. It's all about undermining the media. If they cast enough doubt, no one will believe anything the media says. Also, by legitimizing fake news sites like Brietbart and Alex Jones, they're further eroding media. As KBF said, the mainstream media is also doing it to themselves by allowing questionable "reporting" to come out of their organizations. It plays right into their hands. Eventually, people won't know what to believe, at which point, the administration becomes the only voice. They already speak directly to the public via social media, reporting whatever and however they want.
  9. Not really. The Jets were horrible and didn't show up at all. Losing is one thing but losing without even trying is something entirely different.
  10. Pav vs Hutch. It's like fighting over which punch to the groin would hurt less.. One from Mike Tyson or one from Lennox Lewis? They both cripple us.
  11. He's been terrible. He hasn't had a game with less than 3 goals against. The Pav apologists need to just let it go.
  12. Start the season in Regina and finish in Ottawa. Can't wait.
  13. And Vegas will promptly take him. High cap hit, which will help them and low wage. Win-win for Vegas. Very skilled, top-4 RHD.
  14. There's plenty of wildlife at IGF.
  15. The CFL preseason is used to look at new players, so it's not pointless. I would like to see them more spread out but it's not like starters see the field all that much.
  16. So, it's the best system.
  17. I thought Walters said an experienced back-up and not specifically number 2? And Davis was number 2 last year behind Nichols, after the Willy trade.
  18. I don't typically read the Sun and for good reason. Yes, why investigate a problem before making a knee-jerk reaction?! Yes, it was an election commitment to stop BPIII but so was responsible government. Gov'ts should be applauded when they don't make draconian, dogmatic changes before doing their own analysis. We deal with enough of that (and the fallout) each day.
  19. If he cleared waivers...
  20. Boston is a gong show. I wonder who will get Julien? Have we met our Claude-quota yet?
  21. GMs rely on scouts much more than that. They'll certainly see a guy who has put up numbers but will rely more on the current status of his play and what they need to pay him (re: salary cap).
  22. It's hard to argue right now that BiPole III is needed at all. Based on projections 10+ years ago? Maybe but it was always speculative. If the market continued and prices for natural gas kept climbing by large amounts, they yes, Hydro would have been well positioned. The price of natural gas has dropped so much and with Trump in office, those prices are not going to rise for a long, long time. We're going to pay a lot to cover the costs associated with all this expansion.
  23. Fracking. Ten years ago, it looked like clean, renewable energy was going to provide this province with a lot resources, the way oil and gas has helped Alberta. A few years later, with huge investments in infrastructure and without any constraints, Hydro leveraged itself assuming the money would flow. Then, fracking comes along and vast amounts of gas becomes accessible and cheap. Now, no one cares about the environmental impact of fracking and burning gas, the price is right. Meanwhile, Hydro was an unable (or unwilling) to adapt and scale. Much of it was too late anyhow. That's obviously oversimplified but an inability to project accurate revenues and unwillingness by the former government to say, 'no', and Hydro is where it's at. This is definitely a case where the private sector would have moved faster to adapt but I'm still not convinced, it would have 'saved' Hydro.
  24. What?
  25. I just wonder how the Patriots cheated this time?
