Where are you hearing Myers is done? Why would you buy him out and take an ongoing cap hit? If he's truly done, as you've said, then LTIR is the best option.

Even if Poolman signs, what makes you think he can jump to the NHL?

How could they fit them in at MSG? That would be a scheduling nightmare for the NHL & NBA and probably wouldn't benefit MSG. That place is booked every night and I doubt the Islanders would pack the place.

Decent price for an expiring contract, if you need depth without costing you anything but money in return. $3.5 AAV.

It is but mostly because the issue has been buried. If the government was serious about electoral reform, they would have engaged in a real public discourse. That, unfortunately, did not happen. Even if you don't support changing the current system, getting the public's attention and creating a real forum for idea exchange, does nothing but help our democracy. From a political point-of-view, I'm not sure what the Liberals can run on next time? Lowering the deficit that the right-of-centre voters want? Not again. Electoral reform that the left-of-centre voters want? Not again. It's like they're squeezing themselves into an impossible situation where the left or right parties can push them out. Bizarre.

It's pretty serious and he's away from the team. I don't know what it is but prior to it, he was with the club and even skated.

Want to take the heat off Jones for signing Glenn instead of Durant? Threaten the fans with Vince Young! Problem mitigated. -

That's not the way I remember Lawless describing the situation. But maybe I'm getting things confused. #ThanksJoeMack EDIT: So we lost him 'cause he done knocked up his sister?! Golly. -

It's not the movement, it's the pressure. Try to squeeze the stick and you'll be in some pain. -

Didn't Mack also wait until the last possible moment to re-sign him and try to get a hometown discount? -

Phillips, I think. -

Where do think Hutch would go? Buyout? I wonder if they would bring up Phillips from the ECHL? -
I'm pretty sure no GM makes a decision based on the size of the market the team was from. Maybe losing to an "inferior" team helps push them to make a decision but never the size of the market.

You could sign any bum that's currently an FA. Even someone coming back from Europe. They would have to be cheap and you would have to want them in the organization for the next season. Until the most recent Hutch drop-off, there was a real sense that Vegas could take him. Not to be with the big club but a cheap goalie, on an expiring contract. They have to take 3 goalies anyhow, so, why not him?! Of course, they may be having second thoughts about that. Depending on who the Jets expose, is the best player available better than players available at other clubs? -

You have to have one goalie, under contract or RFA, to expose. EDIT: Right now, we have Helle and Hutch who fit. Comrie doesn't count and can't be claimed. -
Ah. Sorry, got the impression that our city councillors wanted to revisit the current agreement. I wish there was more transparency in this entire land/real estate process.

I don't see why we can't do both. Let the scouted players push the vets and replace them. I'm not sure we're "overpaying" anyone. There's open market and we're negotiating against up to 8 other teams. -
That's all hindsight. When he signed the original agreement, he was building a baseball park in downtown Winnipeg. No one else was building on that plot. Do I think it should continue at $1/year after 2023? No, absolutely not. But do I think it was a fair deal for both parties at the time? Yes, I do. Both sides took risk and it turns out Sammy made out better.

He was retiring anyhow. That's why they brought Yeo in to be associate coach. EDIT: Should say, he was leaving the Blues at the end of the season anyhow. I'm not sure what he intends to do after this year. He always hinted he was retiring, though.
-
I'm surprised they didn't add a veteran goalie before firing Hitchcock. But can't say I'm surprised he was turfed. I wondered how long he would last this year if the Blues were not at or near the top of the central. I'm not sure what Yeo will be able to do.

I still bet Helle gets at least 20 games. Unless, of course, the tank is on. -

I doubt it. Pav will slowly see fewer and fewer games. Can't afford to let that many goals in a game, even if the team sometimes puts in more. -

Are you saying you're okay with this, given that Pav won the last one against the Blues?
