Next .... What changes will bring a Championship?
JCon replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I would like to see a more aggressive defence. I understand that there is a lot more risk & reward with an aggressive defence but I enjoy watching it more. So, I guess, I would like to see Hall replaced. -
Game 19 : Road Trip @ Philadelphia Feeling
JCon replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Yeah, he's been terrible this year... terrible until he sees the Jets. Early this year, we were making stars out of average goaltenders. Did so again last night. It happens. As long as we're playing better than other teams, I have no concerns for this club. -
Owners need new rules to protect them from themselves.

But the NHLPA has the opportunity, each year, to hold the salary cap, thus keeping the escrow down. Each year, they take the chance that revenues will greatly exceed the previous year and each year it does not.

I suspect he'll be in Montreal. They could use a veteran starter as they bring up a young QB. Assuming, of course, he doesn't stay in Regina.

CFL 2016 Western Semifinal now up on You Tube
JCon replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Oh joy. -
I think what will happen is that he'll get some concessions on things that irk some Americans but will have to give on others. Both sides will claim victory. Both oppositions will call foul. Rinse, repeat.

In terms of policy changes, it will be interesting to see how relations are between Canada and the US. I don't really care about the personal relationship between Trump and Trudeau but rather those negotiating trade deals. Trump has stated his desire to rework NAFTA. From a Canadian point-of-view, there are concessions that we can make in some areas, if it offsets US concessions in others. Obviously, beef and softwood lumber are the high profile areas of concern for both countries. Overall, looking at the deal is positive, as long as both sides are willing to negotiate.

I was shocked when I saw that this morning. But I was even more shocked to see that it put us tenth overall in the NHL. Seems very odd situation.

I thought sending the juniors would be the best option. I don't agree that we should kill the WJHC that season. For two reasons: 1) Non-NHL players could still play, including those from the European Elite leagues. 2) The host city for the WJHC is Buffalo in 2018. If we bump them, they'll want to push that to 2019. Which means we won't see the WJHC in Winnipeg until 2020 or 2022. (Provided we win our bid)

I see the value in exposing Roslo to the big club. But it's not a good time to integrate him. He's learning the same system with the Moose and getting a chance to practice and play big minutes. He can't do that with the Jets right now. They're not practicing and they're not going to give him big minutes. There will be plenty of opportunity to give him exposure to the NHL without hampering his development or playing time. Let's stop, breathe and trust the system. It's working, obviously.

Your trade does not make sense from an Oilers point of view. They couldn't protect Myers in the expansion draft along with all the other kids they need to protect. Nurse is exempt for them.

Game 19 : Road Trip @ Philadelphia Feeling
JCon replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
But, using the same argument you made about Philips sitting in the Moose line-up, versus playing in the ECHL, at least he's getting better coaching and development. It's working right now, so the Jets won't change it. Right or wrong. -
Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
JCon replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
He did play in the World Cup in September. I would say that the criticism of Trouba has not been that he doesn't keep in shape but that he doesn't push himself the same way Sheif does. That's not really fair criticism for a variety of reasons, including, that we don't know what he does because he keeps that private and Sheif reportedly pushes himself harder than anyone. -

You're mistaking what people want with what people think the Jets will do. Jets pattern is to keep the same line-up after a big win. Hard to argue with that philosophy, unless someone was egregiously bad. Since Thorburn scored and was not a train wreck, he'll dress again. -
CFL Week? That's HUGE news! (What's CFL Week?)
-
Before or after he enters the CFL Hall of Fame? That's the Chris (Jones) Football League.

I feel like Connor would benefit from some time in AHL. I'm happy that he's learning the defensive game but it would be good if he could find a scoring touch. The AHL would help him right now.

But Milanovich... quarterback whisperer.

Around The League Regular Season Discussion
JCon replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Fire Lapo? They're not doing that. -
Shoot, I was working from the Cap Friendly expansion draft tool. You're right, I forgot he had those games at the end of 2014/15.

Would we have any interest in Franklin?
JCon replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Not to mention, they have a QB who plays 'on the edge' and is always at risk of getting injured. -

Montreal already has their next QB. Toronto has a need, I believe. Interesting that both traded away their number 1 picks this year to acquire their QB of the future. -
We could add very good defenseman, that's for sure. Prices may even be depressed in this market. Might even get a top 4 d, that another team can't protect, with term, for a prospect or a lower draft pick. Of course, that player would be exposed come the expansion draft.
