Anyone collect hockey cards?
Bubba Zanetti replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
My dad and I used to collect back in the late 80's/early 90's and amassed quite a large collection. Hockey, baseball, football, basketball. Ofcourse me being an idiot in my mid-20's, decided i needed some quick cash and sold most of the collection for pennies on the dollar. Big time regret. So dumb. Theyve really waned in popularity over the last 20+ years and i wonder if there will ever come a time again when they are as popular. I remember collecting baseball a lot in the late 80's and it was just Topps, Fleer, and Donruss and too a smaller extent Leaf. Hockey was just O-Pee-Chee and Topps. Now my god, there must be 50+ different manufacturers. Back in the day a player had ONE rookie card per Manufacturer, now its like 100. I was looking at maybe getting a Laine rookie and its insane the amount of options. Some for $5, others nearly $1000. Never mind all the grading that goes on now too. Just ridiculous. Over the last few years i started getting back into it a bit, picking up a card or two every few months but just Jets and Blue Bomber players. Ive started a nice little collection of 1959 Wheaties cards with Kenny Ploen, Gerry James, Leo Lewis, and Buddy Tinsley. I was hoping to get a Bud Grant rookie and ive seen a couple but they are a little too rich for my blood. I started with the core Jets, Scheifele, Trouba, Wheeler, Little rookies. Then started to get into the older guys Selanne, Hawerchuk, Housley, Steen, Essensa, and then even older Erik-Sjoberg, Hedberg, Nilsson and Boddy Hull's 1st card as a Jet. Surprisingly most of these cards were quite inexpensive. Nice nostalgia feeling to it. -
P.S. D-line, stop hitting QB's in the face

Glad for the win, game could have been a loss if not for some VERY questionable penalties and some missed calls. Special teams, get your **** together. Nichols/Lapo, come out faster and dont throw on 2nd down with under a minute left, up by 8 when youre running well. Westerman, stop taking dumb penalties. That is all.

Sigh, Andrew Harris. Third times a charm!

Wild had a rough year last year. He missed a TON of tackles. Couple that with the fact that he cant stay healthy and he's an average linebacker at best. Steady, but never really stands out in a good way or influences the game with big tackles/plays. He's serviceable but i could see getting the same production out of knox and/or santos-knox.

Stamps @ Bombers: Game Day Thread
Bubba Zanetti replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
By passing up potential points before the half in a 10-9 game? Considering we have the best kicker in the league, that's not what I call smart. -

And just before that drive there was 52 seconds left when calgary went to punt and MOS doesn't call a timeout?!?! 30 seconds ticked away by the time we snapped the ball . What the **** was he thinking?! I was screaming "call a ***ing timeout you jack***". Sometimes I really find it hard to figure out what is going on is MOS's brain. Combine brainfart coaching with wet paper bag D and Nichols s***ting all over the field in the 2nd half and it was Just a **** game altogether. -

You mean Rod Pedersen Jr? -
MOS said today that Carmichael will start again and will be given plenty of opportunities to improve seeing as he was so impressive during training camp and practice. We'll see. Some people just dont have it when the bullets are flying for real. Still not sure whats up with Johnson. Haven't heard a peep over the last week and his twitter has been silent for some time now....

Who was our worst coach?
Bubba Zanetti replied to Blue in the loops's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Tim Burke and not even close imo. Guys like Reinbold and Kelly were jackass** but Burke was just clueless. -

Not surprised about Nye, or as i like to call him, Rod Pedersen Jr. The guy is a Rider homer. I dont think ive ever seen him pick against the Riders. The other guys have no excuses, theyre just dumbasse*s.

Lapo and his questionable play calling was at it again. It seemed like it was either a long, slow developing pass play or nothing. No rhythm at all. Then you watch Glenn and its 8-12 yard quick hitters eating up yards, getting in a rhythm, and churning out 1st downs. Then late in the game when you need to milk the clock you call a slow developing pass play and take a 9 yard sack?? Brutal. So friggin' lucky we won that game. Could have just as easily lost.

A win is win but they can not be happy with the way they played. Should have buried they clowns in the 4th quarter. Roc Carmichael needs to get his head out of his *ss or be replaced asap and the D as a whole should feel ashamed.

Thats a shame

Biggest Rivalry in the CFL: Regina Winnipeg
Bubba Zanetti replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Is this post a joke? Where to begin? As far as receivers go we have Denmark who played in only 10 games but managed 705 yards and 8 TD's(full season that works out to just under 1300 yards and 14 TD's. Next up Dressler who managed to break 1000 yards despite missing 3 games and then lets not forget Adams who was pace for nearly 1600 yards before he was hurt. Now you can add 6'4" Washington to that list who has been in beast mode since he's gotten here. Our o-line is as solid as they come and i'd put them up against any other unit in this league. With early Canadian picks Couture and Spooner plus serviceable Neufeld if need be. And our secondary?!?! Lol, its so deep they cut a solid starter from last year(Frederick) and have guys like NFL vet Roc Carmichael and Kevin friggin' Fogg waiting in the wings. Seriously clown, stop spewing utter b******* and go back to your hole. Is there anything more insufferable then ignorant jag*ff Rider fans?? I think not. Please let us crush their green kool-aid drenched souls on Saturday. -
Regular Season - Bomber News, Developments & Speculation
Bubba Zanetti replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
6 of 7 CFL writers on cfl.ca have picked the Riders to win?!?! Based on what? Nonsense? I feel like im taking crazy pills. -
The fact is Mason is younger and has been quoted as saying every team needs a true #1 and he isnt interested in splitting time. Bernier is hot and cold, again is younger, and is probably looking for a starting roll. Elliott fits the bill perfectly. He's 32, put up good numbers historically, has won in the playoffs, and is perfectly suited to mentor Hellebuyck. I have no problem with him playing 40+ games platooning with Hellebuyck, with Maurice playing the hot hand. Doesnt hurt his wife is a rocket too. Welcome to Winnipeg Mr and Mrs Elliott!

Another Rider quote: "Calgary, Edmonton, BC, Ottawa, Hamilton all take us to the woodshed in a game like this." You're missing a team....You'll figure it out next week Prider.
-
Rider fan quote: "You gotta beat the bad teams to not be considered horrible. Another try at a bad one next week." No respect. We'll see jack*ss, we'll see.

Im actually quite surprised how well the Riders o-line held up. Alouettes got ZERO pressure all night.
