adequate [ ad-i-kwit ] adjective as much or as good as necessary for some requirement or purpose; fully sufficient, suitable, or fit As long as there is a plan for inserting Streveler into the game, I have no problem with it. I'm not sure it's fair to him if it's on a willy-nilly basis (not saying you're suggesting that).

It's August 9th. There's plenty of time to get better.

It's time to hand the ball to Streveler.

I'd also argue that with the hang time on that ball he could have angled out the defender a little better in order to make the catch, but that's easy for me to say. -

If I recall correctly, the Bombers only played from behind for a total of 5 minutes over the first 5 games, so he was chucking it when we really didn't "need" to. So we essentially know that Nichols can and has thrown downfield to an above average degree this season even though the offense generally plays with a short field (due to winning special teams battles) and we have the best runningback in the league and would be stupid not to use him. And yet Matt Nichols should be benched now because he is incapable of throwing downfield. There are some short term memories on this board. -

It's all about the W's. I really believe any apparent shortcomings are more about choices and less about ineptitude. -
Gaudy int stats for sure. Really impressed by Sayles, Jeffcoat (pre-injury) and Nevis all year. Jefferson has been incredible lately.

Now please try to defend the average person who calls the post-game show on CJOB. Or calls any show on CJOB. -
While it was pretty obvious how the Bombers dominated special teams yesterday, the net punt return numbers are incredible. Calgary punted 7 times (44.4 yard average), but their net average was 12.7 yards. Winnipeg punted 5 times (40.6 yard average) and their net average was 36.2 yards.

Heaven help us if the Bombers manage/coach according to CJOB callers' whims. Most of them were probably drunk. The second comment is pure speculation, but since we're speculating - I've seen Nichols grimacing more than a few times on camera-closeups after a play he doesn't even get contacted on. Not sure he's at 100% physically. I've got issues with Nichols, but now isn't the time for upheaval. -

When you have the best record in the league, it is not time to hand the ball to your backup quarterback. When you just beat the defending champions in a game that determines who will have the best record in the West after this week, it is not time to hand the ball to your backup quarterback. That being said, I remember looking at Saskatchewan's offensive stats before the West semi-final last year and realized how smoke and mirrors their record was. I'm afraid I'm starting to feel that way about the Bombers - this is Swaggerville without the swagger, but it's early August. Nichols aggravates me as often as he impresses me and I feel the same way about Lapo, but there is time to make adjustments in the play calling and to do more film work. Nichols is not incapable of throwing a good ball and Lapolice is not incapable of calling a good game. As long as we're winning twice or three more times than we're losing, we'd be stupid to do anything drastic. There's time for incremental improvements on the offense and as long as the Bombers keep winning, time is on our side. -
Not sure if I missed the deadline, but if not, I'll take Luke Tasker.

Totally got that. It will be interesting to see what problems "solve" themselves, but will depend on everyone's' definition of a particular solution, I guess.

I hear what you're saying - just pointing out that although our part of the world will likely see some benefit to warming, there will be many casualties as well. In this particular case, the first ranchers to go will be the small ones and I have never seen that fewer, bigger farms is beneficial to the environment.

Yeah, but: https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2019/07/26/manitoba-cattle-producers-say-they-may-have-to-reduce-herds-due-to-hay-shortage.html "Callum says producers might not sell off their entire herds, but downsizing could certainly happen. He says producers are facing back-to-back years of dry conditions and will struggle to salvage the rest of the season. Manitoba Agriculture’s latest crop report says hay and forage yields are “significantly below average” and at 40 to 60 per cent of normal."

I sense the only reason some people want a close game tonight is so they'll have something or someone to criticize tomorrow.

I will take a win in any form if it helps the Bombers get a home game in the Western Final.

Better a Kawhi than a Kevin (Durant).

3-Year-Old Asked To Pick Parent In Attempted Family Separation, Her Parents Say "At a Border Patrol holding facility in El Paso, Texas, an agent told a Honduran family that one parent would be sent to Mexico while the other parent and their three children could stay in the United States, according to the family. The agent turned to the couple's youngest daughter — 3-year-old Sofia, whom they call Sofi — and asked her to make a choice. "The agent asked her who she wanted to go with, mom or dad," her mother, Tania, told NPR through an interpreter. "And the girl, because she is more attached to me, she said mom. But when they started to take [my husband] away, the girl started to cry. The officer said, 'You said [you want to go] with mom.' "" .... "The family fled Honduras after Tania witnessed her mother get killed. Her sister-in-law also was a witness and was later kidnapped, tortured and slain to keep her from testifying. The gang MS-13 then posted a note on the family's door telling them they had 45 minutes to leave, Tania said. That's when the family left to seek asylum in the U.S." https://www.npr.org/2019/07/15/741721660/follow-up-what-happened-after-a-border-agent-asked-toddler-to-pick-a-parent?utm_term=nprnews&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=npr&fbclid=IwAR24UagWriyNZtyHr01IYsPK0_TjzxMeSP8TXoqIQb6e2m87bv2lYxQQUDg

It smells like Matthews wants to play, but the trainer told the head coach that more rest for a receiver's dislocated finger is the most prudent move. I'm kind of surprised that Westwood and Walby have their shorts bunched up so tightly over this. But it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.
-
His pinky finger was broken/dislocated so badly, it required stitches. That was 2 weeks ago. The Bombers are favoured by 10.5 and are playing at home. Also from Wednesday's Free Press: "Still, O’Shea wouldn’t confirm whether Matthews was going to play or not. That could be simply because he doesn’t have to. Rosters aren’t submitted until the day before the game and O’Shea has never been one to show his hand ahead of time." Further to O'Shea in media reports this week - he never ever says anyone is going to play for sure. He answers reporters queries with "he looks good". How we interpret that quote is on us. I think they can afford to rest him one more game.
