  1. I'm not sure even the devil wants you for an advocate. Crucifying people for DUI?
  2. We were in the East in 1990. The first and only game I worked as part of a CFL broadcast crew. CFL Network was down staff due to other broadcasts and I worked with the ISO director on another show, so he got them to hire me for a day as the spotter on the Bombers' bench. I was the guy who grabbed Tom Burgess for the post-game interview. Best working day of my entire life, but little did my then 23 year old self know it was all downhill from there.
  3. Don't take this as a defense of Lawler's actions, but it is possible that he had 2 drinks and then tried driving while looking at his phone. I gave up on the phone while driving long before the law came into effect, because I drove like someone who was full-on hammered when I tried.
  4. I think Adams is going to go over 100, but I'll take Roosevelt too.
  5. This, this, this! Considering the team is operating in a pseudo bubble, I think the chances of this are more than nil.
  6. "Evans threw three touchdown passes for 191 yards and no interceptions, while completing 68.2 per cent of his passes. He also showed off his versatility, rushing for 59 yards on seven carries (8.4 yards per rush)." Impressive for a first start, but come on! I wonder if the pencils came out for Lawler after yesterday's news.
  7. It's one game. Already announced.
  8. I believe in your beliefs.
  9. Brandon gonna Brandon.
  10. I would hazard a guess that we still would have beat the Lions without Lawler's 200+ yards.
  11. A lot of the entertainment value I get from Anderson films is in the surprises and asides in dialog. Not a surprise that the second viewing would be less enjoyable.
  12. First of all, I encourage everyone who can to subscribe to the Freep - it is a really good publication with some fabulous writers. Here you go: Winnipeg Blue Bombers receiver Kenny Lawler was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of driving impaired and will miss Friday's game against the visiting Edmonton Elks. Lawler, who was in the midst of a breakout season, leading the CFL with 703 receiving yards to go with four touchdowns, has been suspended one game by the CFL club. "Kenny informed the team today of his arrest for operating a motor vehicle while impaired early this morning," the Bombers said, in a prepared statement released late Monday. "Upon further investigation, the club has suspended Kenny for Friday’s game and has reported the incident to the league office. We take this incident very seriously and have spoken at length with Kenny throughout the day. "Kenny recognizes the seriousness of the situation and that this type of behaviour is unacceptable and inexcusable. He has agreed to seek assistance as it relates to alcohol abuse and has cooperated fully with police on the matter." The 27-year-old was just days removed from the best performance of his CFL career, registering 12 catches for 205 yards and a touchdown in a 30-9 win over the Lions at BC Place. He was building off a promising rookie season in 2019, where he led the Bombers with 637 receiving yards in 16 games. According to team sources, Lawler was involved in a single-vehicle accident that caused no injury. He has been released from custody and is expected to address his teammates sometime on Tuesday, when the Bombers return to practice ahead of their Week 10 tilt with the Elks at IG Field.
  13. Weird. I could have sworn I read this morning that Lawler was in a single vehicle accident before being charged. Cannot find where I read that now. (Update) It's been so long since I read the paper this morning, that I forgot what I read. It's in the Free Press. No injuries to anyone. Bombers' Lawler arrested for DUI, suspended by team - Winnipeg Free Press
  14. When my daughter was 5, she coined the term: "A mistake is only learning by accident".
  15. One step away from putting our kids back in the coal mines.
  16. There is so much worse out there than that, but to each his own, I guess.
  17. My favorite Anderson film is still his first one - Bottle Rocket. Much more accessible than most of the others. I really don't think Rushmore or The Royal Tennenbaums are all that weird either. Thought Free Guy was excellent as well.
  18. Check out the cast beyond the Wes Anderson regulars.
  19. I've been reading up on tax shelters for years. The estimates range up to 6 trillion in hidden money. That would pay for a lot of government services around the world.
  20. Lost in the discussion about the Riders is how bad the Stamps looked. That was a pretty ugly football game. No one scares me as a Bomber fan this year.
  21. And a coach just stepped on it on the sidelines.
  22. Just want to say how nice it is to know that the Bombers are the best team in the league with no ifs, ands or buts. It was not hard to realize during Swaggerville that our offense sucked. This year is some good kind of different.
  23. Just the same, I think Norway is jumping the gun.
