Free Agency Day - Bombers Moves
I'm not a salary cap guru. I just put it down to basic math. Subtracting players salaries that are now gone should open some money up. However, Schoen & Brady have cost us around $460,000 next season. We do have Lawler at around $275,000 & Collaros at $500,000 so I guess pickings are slim. Like I said, I'm no salary cap guru, so I'd appreciate not being attacked over this. If I need to have someone explain it, please do.

Defensively, there are holes to fill. We are going to get run on with whom we have now playing the Front 7.

Free Agency Day - Bombers Moves
One injury on the OL with the lack of depth we have & we're in deep doo doo. The DL & linebackers don't look much better. I'm worried.

Free Agency Day - Bombers Moves
Well, we sign Schoen & Brady & we're paupers? Maybe that wasn't the right thing to do. Maybe we should have let one go. They both even signed on the cheap to help the Bombers out. . We should have money & yet we don't. I'm scratching my head about this.

Free Agency Day - Bombers Moves
I don't get how we can be in such salary cap hell because of two players? You l;ook around the league & other teams seem to have the money to find players. We've lost a bunch of players so wouldn't that create more cap space??

Free Agency Day - Bombers Moves
You create space by releasing some older backup or special teams players. Maybe a couple of older starting veterans. I don't feel that we';ve done enough of that. There has to be some older deadwood we can prune to sign players. Besides, why can't we just go over the cap? Is living within an insanely small salary cap & trying to make it wor really worth it if we start losing games & attendance starts to drop? That'll hurt way more if we are a million dollars or more down in revenue instead of paying the fine up to $100 grand before losing a first round draft pick. So, I feel Walters should just do it.

Losing Gray really hurts. I don't get signing Kolo but not Gray...

Passing of Ken Ploen and Gerry James
Gerry James was a true super athlete. The media made a big thing about Bo Jackson & Deion Sanders playing MLB & football the same season. Think of pro football then followed by pro hockey with the Leafs in the same season. Perhaps even the same day. I believe I read a story somewhere that the Bombers won the 1961 GC in OT at CNE Stadium in Toronto. That night, James was in a Maple Leafs uniform playing defense at Maple Leaf Gardens. Back when the NHL only had 6 teams. Leafs Coach Punch Imlach liked him so much that he kept a spot open for him. I read Gerry James book. In it, he described his dislike for Bud Grant. How he felt he disrespected Canadians on the Bombers by his treatment of them. How Americans made more money than the Canadians & how cheap Grant was. James left the Bombers in a contract dispute & finished his career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. For decades, the relationship between the Bombers & James was scarred. I think things were better after Wade Miller took over as President & really wanting him back as a Bomber alumni but I don't think things were ever totally repaired.

And Tom Dimitroff thinks Mike O'Shea should leave the CFL for that pressure cooker???? He'd last a season, maybe.

What do you mean? That we should have played games overseas in Europe?

Get it done, Kyle.

Two teams? Very interesting.

Mexico City will be in a US conference because of the time zone & travel distance. having a Euro Division won't be easy. I think it's a ways away from expansion.

Passing of Ken Ploen and Gerry James
Yeah, now he has Frank Rigney blocking for him. Leo Lewis running the ball as well as Farrell Funston & Ernie Pitts to catch it.

2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News
You'd think the former Argos would rather have gone to the Riders to be with Mace. I'd take their linebackers over ours. If you think they're scrounging thru garbage bins then what about our Front 7?

I never said that Kelce belted Reid. I said what would be the over/under of him doing so? I don't care what you or anyone else says to sugarcoat what he did. Leaders lead. They don't act like enraged pricks when things don't go their way.

What was the over/under of Kelce belting his 65 year old Head Coach for taking him out for one play??? If his all around behaviour isn't roid rage then shame on him for being a total douchebag. Did Gronk make his kick?

I like the Chiefs. Happy they won but gawd Travis Kelce has to be the most annoying player in the NFL. I have no problem with taylor Swift but Kelce?? Yeesh.

That;s a blast from the past. I actually liked that show.

The Chiefs don't like it when things don't go their way. They start acting like spoiled little kids. If Travis Kelce had done what he did to Andy Reid to someone like Lombardi or Bud Grant, Kelce would be gone the next day. If Kelce had done that to Mike Ditka, he'd have taken a fist to the face.

2023/2024 Blue Bombers Off-Season Thread (BRADY’S BACK! DALTON’S BACK!)
O'Shea & Dan Campbell are very much alike. Both are very much player coaches. Campbell motivates thru his plain talk to his players & personality. I've never been in the Bomber locker room or heard O'Shea give a pre or post game speech. I'm sure Mike can get fired up when he wants to. We know Campbell does all the time. Both are great leaders whose players would follow them though anything. The biggest difference is Campbell's aggressiveness on short yardage & goal line. He'll go for it. While O'Shea has the more traditional approach of "Let's take the points". Campbell was given the chance to develop a FIFO culture in Detroit like O'Shea was here. He'd never get the time to do that in the NFL. He'd be fired. The weakest. Which sucks. As well as our DL now has a big hole to fill with JJ gone. And of course our interior DL is always weak which we never fix.
