  1. They never properly funded the team.
  2. SFU is a football shitshow. It was when my son played there & it's never changed. Kelly Bates, maybe the worst football head coach in existence all time went 0-39 as SFU's HC. The university allowed it to happen. He should have been fired after season two. He sucked the life out of his players the way he treated them. SFU built a $20 million stadium that seats only 2,500 people & SFU students will be paying for it on their fees for decades. SFU had no stadium when they had a football team. Now, they have a stadium & no football team. They hired an AD that tried to kill the UBC football program & was railroaded out of her job there because of it. So, naturally, SFU hires her after she was fired & she tries to do the same thing at SFU. Anyone see a pattern here?? She needs to be replaced. The admin never funded the team the way it should have been. Head Coaches, Coordinators & assistants came & went like the wind. No continuity. Recruiting truly suffered. It generally took 4 months for every AD to get off their ass to hire a new HC. Usually in March & just a couple of weeks ahead of spring camp. So, recruitment suffered greatly as it didn't start until spring & everything was rushed to be ready for camp. Like hiring a coaching & training staff & putting together a playbook. My son played 3 seasons at SFU from 2013-15. In those 3 seasons, he had 3 head coaches, 3 playbooks, 3 OC's, 3 qbs coaches. Every HC thought the previous HC was a dumbass in how they ran the program & that they were smarter than the head coach there before them. Some of the hires like Bates were worse than the coach that he replaced. Anyway, no one should be surprised this happened as it was inevitable. To me, the program died the moment they hired Bates & he was allowed to totally run the program into the ground. No football conference wants a team that can't compete & consistently gets blown out by 40 points a game & that's exactly what happened. They never had a winning record as a member of Division 2 football. Unfortunately, SFU burned its bridges with U Sports 12 years ago when it left the Canada West Conference. They may be no more goodwill left from that Conference to want them to return. People have long memories & would administrators from U Sports be willing to take SFU back? Let's hope they do. However, if they did it would mean the end for some other programs like women's softball which is only played in US colleges. All their American sports teams would have to be dropped for the Can West Conference to allow them back. So, either way no matter what SFU does, there will be athletes in other sports negatively affected. Yep, a real shitshow.
  3. Exactly, We don't need Meredith. So, why even mention him? He couldn't crack the roster now even if he wanted to come back.
  4. They actually had Tuvok on the last episode, well sort of.... it was a changeling. Glad they put Discovery out of its misery.
  5. In 2012, an AB PC govt Minister Thomas Lukazek was door knocking in his Edmonton constituency during the AB provincial election. Somehow things went sideways at the door of one of his constituents in Edmonton & he got into a fist fight with the Homeowner. He was charged with assault but I think he got off as he was claiming self defense as he claimed the guy in the house attacked him. Like, this is Alberta, folks. The entertainment is just beginning. Yeeee Haaaa! Johnson was appointed by Trudeau. With ties to the Trudeau Foundation. As well as Trudeau also having appointed him to another position in government is my understanding. But yes to answer your question, someone who is separate from government & politics. Someone who has no political ties with any party.
  6. I can accept what you say is correct. However, Johnson's reputation will suffer if he doesn't recommend an enquiry. It's really a lose-lose for him.
  7. Johnson may have all the qualifications but that connection to the Trudeau family will hang over him. Plus the fact Trudeau appointed him will also hurt is integrity as well. I've seen more than a few headlines about how accepting this position will just drag him down rather than help him.
  8. Fanbase apathy has truly set in. They have no chance to advance even if they make the playoffs. They may win a game or two & take the opening series to 5 or 6 games but they'll lose. I don't care if they make the playoffs or not. I doubt if I'll spend a lot of timne watching. Just waiting for the CFL season to start.
  9. From what I've seen & read it seems most parliamentarians want a public enquiry. I don't tyhink that Johnson by doing things in private will satify anyone with his findings. Disappointed how partisan our democracy has become if there is political intereference by foreign players.
  10. So did I. Check again, he is a family friend of Trudeau. And try to keep it civil. I'm not here to call anyone names or point fingers because they don't like what I'm saying. Those days for me are over. At least I'm trying to be more patient. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/carson-jerema-trudeau-family-friend-david-johnston-not-the-man-to-restore-election-confidence
  11. Neither do you. That is your assumption. All the more reason for a federal enquiry to clear it up & have things out in the open. So what if Johnson was Governor General? Does that give him some special pass or something? Trudeau appointed that former lady astronaut as GG & she turned out to be one of the nastiest people to ever hold down that job. She was forced to resign after being GG for less than 2 years. So, it means nothing to me if Trudeau appoints a former Harper GG at all as his "rapporteur".
  12. Sure, rage farming over the legitimacy of our democracy & elections when the final results are at stake. Trudeau knew about this since 2016 & did nothing. Other countres at least tightened things up once they found out it happened to them but not Trudeau. Why? Why would he let enemy foreign governments interfere in our elections & do nothing about it over the last two elections? Is this happening as well at the civic & provincial levels as well?
  13. No, I never said that. I said that I'd never heard of the term rapporteur & neither had most Canadians. That is, until last week when Trudeau appointed Johnson, who is a family friend. A federal enquiry means an independent judge/commissioner completely separate from the government is appointed to investigate the claims. He/she may appoint other Commissioners to assist in making a report. They may enter any public building or department & demand to see any information they deem important to the investigation. They may subpoena information & they have the power to make any individual testify & cooperate with said inquiry. Which means the investigation is open & more far reaching. And there are hearings in public. A rapporteur appointed by the PM. Johnson will conduct his so called investigation in private & then come up with his findings. Wanna bet Hang Dong & the Liberals are let off the hook? It doesn't go far enough. This the democracy of our country that is at risk by foreign players from China, Iran & Russia. We all should be concerned about foreign interference. I just get the impression it's mostly, well My Guy Trudeau won so I'm still okay with it. Of course, there'd have been a different tune being sung here had Trudeau lost...
  14. What is a special rapporteur? Don't agree. If there's nothing to hide then why not approve a federal enquiry? All parliamentarians except Trudeau are calling for it. Then do it.
  15. How can any evidence be presented when Trudeau keeps blocking a federal inquiry?
  16. Like it was reported, To stop the Conservatives from looking good. Is it true? If it is, it will be a huge scandal. If not, the reporter's career is over.
  17. Kind of a mild meltdown. I've seen a lot worse.
  18. And they used to be our hockey team. Yeah, moving to the Arizona desert has worked out so well.
  19. Not if he told the Chinese official not to release the two Michaels. We'll see, I guess.
  20. Pretty easily. He's been ignoring it for years now. Chevy needs to go but Chipman gave him a new deal last year. No accountability from above. Won't be surprised if Bowness gets the axe.
  21. If I was a young man in my 20's, single & could do it all over again, I might make football scouting my life's calling.
  22. Flex flex?? On twitter, you'd think it was some huge star who was let go. Thank you, James for the memories qccording to some Elks fans.
  23. The owner Murray Edwards lives full time in London, England. Refuses to pay Canadian income taxes. I'm pretty certain that he'll renounce his Canadian citizenship for British. He has no interest in the Stampeders or the stadium they play in.
