  1. Libertarians say, feel free to jump out of an airplane with a parachute. That's your choice & libertarians will support your right to do that. Or climb that mountain peak in Japer National Park. But if your chute gets tangled on the way down & you break your back on impact or you trip & fall 500 feet down the mountain breaking both legs then you should pay for the cost of your rescue, healthcare, physio & recovery. It's not our problem, Libertarians will say. It's yours because you decided to do it. I never understood or liked Libertarian Conservativism.
  2. A sitting Liberal MP telling the Chinese to keep two Canadians in jail in China so it doesn't help the Conservatives politically is a valid comparison??? WTH? Both parties have evil & corrupt people working for them. That was my point.
  3. Funny how no one here is talking about the Global TV story that (now former) Liberal MP Han Dong supposedly telling a senior official at the Chinese Consulate in Toronto not to release the two Michaels in 2021 as he felt their release would help the Conservatives. Yeah, those damned Conservatives are always scumbags but the Liberals never are. MP Han Dong leaving Liberal caucus, denies allegations of working against release of 2 Michaels (msn.com)
  4. The so called hardcore loyal "Canadian" fans here are steadfast that they don't want ot change anything. Just leave everything alone. They're saying if the rules are changed with the ratio or the league goes to 4 down they won't watch. Well so be it. Don't watch. No one is forcing you to do any of that. But my gosh. is there a sudden surge of growth the way things are now? Is attendance growing? Are league revenues up? Viewership isn't growing. The next TV deal may not be as good as the last one & then what??? With game day attendance down that means our little gate driven league will be in trouble. How dumb is it to admit that things aren't working yet refuse to try to find solutions? The league will suck itself dry in a decade anyway the way things are going if changes aren't made.
  5. So, that topic about Evans is suddenly taboo even if his behaviour affects his level of play? Yet, we can mock players from other teams & make fun of them here just because we hate them? Dislike them? Despise them? Not respect them?? Players have families just like we do & their feelings get hurt yet it's okay to call them names or worse. How many here have mocked Cody Fajardo? Seems to me he's a bit fragile emotionally which is a mental health issue & that's just made the mockery worse. No one I know here has cared about his mental health. When Fajardo complained about a player publicly, he was considered selfish, a jerk & a bad teammate here by posters. No one showed any concern for his mental safety as he was showing his emotions. When Fajardo said that the criticism of his play hurt his feelings what was the reaction here? Cries of derision & laughter by the same people who say that criticizing Evans was a terrible thing. For some, criticizing Fajardo has gone deeper than that. It borders on actual hatred. Why?? Sadly, he is guilty of one thing only. He played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Nothing more. To me, the lectures are all so hypocritical & two faced.
  6. You can call them awful takes. That's your opinion. You're in the minority saying you'd watch an All Canadian football league. You have one. U Sports & we know the kind of fan support they get. I'm convinced most Canadian football fans want to see the best players play in the CFL regardless of where they come from. Now, will it happen? Who knows.
  7. And if the best Canadians don't play or have no interest in playing in the CFL then what will Canadian football fans think if only second tier Canadian players start in the CFL? Players that would never start in today's CFL but will in tomorrow's? Do you think that Canadians will still want to watch? They aren't now. i'm not arguing. I'm just asking what you think?
  8. I have a few ideas about what the CFL should do to become more popular but all that would do is elicit angry responses so it's not worth it for me to even discuss this any further. I don't need the grief. I think it's sad we can't have a discussion about the future of the CFL & throw ideas around ithout being accused of being disloyal.
  9. I'm no Captain Canada here. either. My preference is to see the best players play regardless of where they come from. However, I happen to believe that Canadians would still play without the ratio. All I'm saying is some of the things the league does need to change. The Draft, Neg Lists & the ratio. It's either that or switch to 4 down football. Everything needs to be discussed but it's not at the league level. Times change & the CFL needs to as well. However, the CFL will stick with doing things the same way they did 50 years ago. As long as the BOG's don't think it's broken. So, you seem to think that somehow that'll change? If someone is a good coach then they'll advance. Competition is a good thing. Why are people so afraid of it?
  10. You may not want to hear this but the reality is most Canadians don't. An all Canadian CFL would be the end. Mike O'Shea played in the 90's & early 2000's. That CFL is gone. Look at attendance around the league. Empty stadiums in Toronto & Edmonton. BC made a comeback, thnakfully but attendance there is always year to year. Not thinking of change is irrational.
  11. I have never liked players who put themselves above everybody else. That whatever happens on the field isn't their fault. That somebody else on the team screwed up. Or someone on the line whiffed a block causing a sack or a fumble. Meanwhile that same player throws criticizes other teammates throws interceptions at criticial times in a game, it doesn't matter. If this kind of thing happens once then okay **** happens as emotions get the best of us all However, when it's a regular occurence that needs to be addressed. Especially from the qb position. And Orlando Steinhauer did address it. He seems like a guy who is a player's coach & will let a lot of things slide by but even he had enough with Evans. Anyway, that's my answer. Feel free to agree or disagree. The CFL Draft is being diminished by more & more players going to the NFL. That first pick isn't a first pick anymore. Maybe it's a fifth pick in reality. I said this before that it's becoming time to eliminate the ratio. & Neg Lists & have an overall general draft. Times are changing the CFL is stagnating. Gotta be able to cahnge & adapt with the times.
  12. The Dog Days of the CFL off season. Still a little more than 2 months to training camp.
  13. Why do we need a ratio then? As time goes on more C anadians will play in the NFL. We don't need a ratio anymore in the CFL. Best players should play.
  14. What was that DL we drafted about a decade ago from some small college in the Eastern or Southeastern US "whose motor never stopped" but wasn't much of a player because he was overrated? His motor may never have stopped but it got weaker as training camp went along. Then the injuries started & he never did muchafter that. I think he ended up being released by the Bombers mid season & picked up by the Alouettes who released him later as well, I believe before he was done & out of the CFL in less than 2 seasons. I remember you guys laughing at me about him because I didn't think much of him.. Ah, good times. Good times.
  15. Evans can't carry Willy's bag of footballs if you compare the two. Willy's OL here was light years worse than anyone else's. He never publicly blew up on any of his teammates like Evans did. He took his lumps & suffered silently while we thrashed him as a shitty qb. Evans would have been in a straightjacket in a padded cell had he played behind that cruddy **** of an offensive line while being criticized to the bone by us, the fans & media. Willy never had a chance to have success here. The damage was done once that ankle & foot injury happened & Willy tried to resurrect his career in Toronto a year later.
  16. If Trump was arrested it could start a Civil War, that's the danger. The guy would love it.
  17. Well, well, it looks like 17to85 gets the mic drop.
  18. Nah, didn't fall for it. I went to check new sources & no one was reporting it so I figured it was fake.
  19. It's over....
  20. I was sitting in my surgeon's office this morning regarding my upcoming knee replacement on April 19th & I saw a tweet about Bruce Willis passing away. I checked some internet news sources & couldn't find a thing. I guess he hasn't passed away (which is good) but he's in pretty rough shape with Aphasia & Alzheimer's. Poor guy. He's the same age as I am. His birthday is coming up on March 19th.
  21. Or until the success rate improves. That's one surgery that scares the crap out of me if I ever had to have it.
  22. Willy was one tough quarterback. He took a lot of **** from an inferior line, Maybe the worst all time in the CFL when he started here. As well as **** from the Bomber fanbase. It was a brutal gig for the guy to play here & yet he did. Evans? He'd get smacked around a bit & fall apart blaming everyone but himself. There's no comparison between the two. Seeing just how good our OL has become, I wonder how he'd have done if he played today. Evans is soft.
  23. Evans problem are the demons in his head. If he doesn't get control of that then he'll be of no use to anyone. He's beginning to run out of time. Once he was considered being on the cusp of becoming an elite qb Now he's become a journeyman backup. He obviouisly lost Orlando Steinhauer's respect & his patience or he'd have released him earlier to find a team as a free agent. As it stands, the Lions gave up some later picks in the 2024 CFL Draft. Kinda like the Bombers deal with Edmonton to get Mattt Nichols. The Bombers gave up a 7th round pick & a bag of football to the Esks (their name at the time). Nichols sure made the best of things. Only another major foot injury ended his career. He was playing weel before he got hurt & was never the same afterwards. Will Evans do the same? Will he resurrect his career?
  24. Lloyd Fairbanks was a great OL for a long time. He should have been in the Hall years ago. He was a CFL Western Conference All Star in 1978, 79, 82 & 90. As well as a CFL Eastern Conference All Star in 1984, 85 & 86, He was an All Canadian in 1979 & 82.
