  1. What's with the Argo guy's right arm & wrist? He has 2 hands on one arm.
  2. Let's talk.... CURLING!!!!
  3. I just don't give a ****. We are mired in mediocrity as an organization which starts with Chipman. Chevy seems to have free reign to do what he wants which is virtually nothing. I've heard that Chipman is a meddling owner & maybe he vetoes trades & moves that Chevey wants to make. is it true? I have no clue. I'm just so disengaged with the team from years of disappointments. It's so hard to be a fan of this team.
  4. Yes, it was the same for me in the mid 70's.
  5. So have a lot of people. TBH, I don't care if he kicks for us or not. He can try getting to the NFL till he's 55 if he wants. I wish him all the best.
  6. I used to regale myself. Especially after a game in the bar lamenting that shot that got away from me as I missed the broom. There were more than a few of those during my career.
  7. I couldn't believe it myself. Kids in Alberta have no clue about Canadian history. My youngest actually read up on our history over the years & knows quite a bit about it. So, where does he end up living? Seattle. My oldest here in Calgary doesn't care about Canadian history. Knows nothing about & doesn't give a ****. Ask him about Vimy Ridge or Dunkirk & he knows nothing about it. The Alberta Conservatives took Canadian history out of the curriculum many years ago. Interesting that the NDP didn't put it back in when they had the chance.
  8. We loaded up on offense this off season If Schoen has another big year he'll demand a big payday or he'll be gone to another CFL team. He may try another kick at the can in the NFL. Either way we'll have to pay. What will that do to some high priced veterans? I think some older players will be retiring or moving on. That will open up some more cap space to bring in some defensive players into the mix.
  9. That's my point. Isn't it up to the canadian educational system to teach students about our history?? People aren't going to suddenly wake up at age 35 wanting to know who Wilfred Laurier was. Or what was this jet fighter in the 50's our Canadian engineers developed & Diefenbaker killed at the strongly urgent demands of US President Dwight Eisenhower?? Those things are just getting washed away in the rivers of time.
  10. Proof? What proof??? Why would I lie to prove a point here? What you're asking is impossible to do.. That would be like asking for proof what the Grade 12 curriculum at Churchill High School in Winnipeg was like in 1968. I worked at Centennial High School in Calgary for nearly 10 years as an Educational Assistant. From 2005 to 2014. They had no history courses available to students back then, They had one Geography class that studied the rise of European Nationalism. I wanted both my sons to have studied Canadian history but there wasn't anything they could take. Other than that, it's all I can tell you. Same thing at Lord Beaverbrook with my older son.
  11. When I watched HNIC back in the late 60's & early 70's, I was Tony Esposito pretending to make all those saves. Or leaning on a broom or hockey stick in our basement rec room like Ken Dryden.
  12. I know. I took it.
  13. So, has their been a curriculum change across Canada? My sons know nothing about Canadian history. They graduated in 2005 & 09. Canadian history was not offered in junior or senior high in Alberta. That means there are Canadians in their late 20's & up who know nothing about our history, heritage & political system.
  14. It's not Canadians fault that they know little about their country historically & politically. Canadian history isn't compulsory from Grades 10-12. It's not even taught in high schools anymore.
  15. Understood & I know they were part of the original provinces in Co0nfederation. However, a province with 173,000 people having 4 seats. That is disproportionately unfair. Alberta with 34 seats & a population of 4.3 million works out to an average of 126,701 people per seat. In PEI that works out to 43,250 seats per riding.
  16. Prove me wrong. Look at PEI. Why the hell is that place even a province? The suburb I live in here in Calgary has more people. They have 4 seats.
  17. My dream was to play in a Brier. By the time I was 25, I realized my dream was over. Curses to those skips who didn't give me a chance to compete at the provincial level. I tried, I really tried. I'd spend sleepless nights wondering why others got a chance & I didn't. Why didn't they realize I was a human being like them with dreams, emotions & feelings? I was a helluva C Group curler at the Fort Rouge CC with a solid.... SOLID... 55% shooting average. I needed someone to say. "Hey you curl like a piece of crap, Give it up already. The only way you go to the Brier is if you buy a ticket".
  18. Well, it's probably time for Lirim's agent to say the NFL dream is over. He can sign in the CFL & make some decent money. The longer he stays away, I think the more money he loses. The CFL is already trying to cheap out on kickers by recruiting world kickers. So is Randy Ambrosie's CFL 2.0.
