Salary cap with Rourke gone??? Is he serious. They had cap room because of Rourke last year. -

This is all on Randy Ambrosie. There was a former Als player from Quebec who had the money & a consortium of partners who have tried to buy the team twice & Ambrosie rebuffed him twice. How that ****** Ambrosie stays Commissioner is beyond me. The guy is a joke. He's killing this league with a million paper cuts. -

Looks like the Estate of Sid Spiegel may not want to fund the Als operations anymore. They may lose a bunch of free agents. Ambrosie brought these guys in as owners with the principal owner in his 90's so this is his mess. The team could fold. We have no luck with older free agent receivers. They never work out. So, a guy like Weineke in his 20's? Sure, why not? -

No different than a player who was injured in the second or third game of the season last year & sat out the rest of the year. I think he;ll be fine. -
Fifteen minutes??? That's laughable. No, I'm nothing like Hull. I've never harmed my family with violence. Attacking me for having an opinion just shows you're a fool.
-
Obviously you're not Catholic.
-
Not every person close to hin called him a monster. So, nice try generalizing, My take on Hull is this. He was one of the greatest hockey players of all time. One of the game's early power forwards along with Rocket Richard.. He was a handsome looking guy with his blonde locks. He appealed to both male & femalr fans. He always had time for the fans, especially kids by signing every & all autographs before he would leave the ice in warm ups or after a game. The media loved him because he always had that big smile for the camera & a great sound bite. He was an all star multiole times in the NHL & WHA. He led the NHL in scoring three times. First player to score 50 goals in a season. Hull was The Total Package & I was a huge fan. But obviously, there was another side to Hull that happened away from the rink, cameras & fans that we knew nothing about. It was dark & forboding revolving around alcohol. He was an angry man when he drank & took his anger out on his family which is unforgivable. As a father & husband beating my wife & kids would never happen. I couldn't live with the guilt & I believe that iwould have killed myself had I been an abusive husband & father. What he said about Hitler was just sooooooooo stupid. It doesn't make him a racist. Especially if he might have been drunk when he said it. In our lifetimes, we've all said things that we regret & never would say now. So, a racist based on one quote? I don't believe it. Stupid, yes. So, I'll remember him for what I knew of him. A great charismatic hockey player but a man with a secret drinking problem who couldn't control his anger that became public 25 years ago. Just like a lot of other men. Maybe your next door neighbour or your best friend at work who are keeping it a secret. Should Bobby be forgiven? To me, that's entirely up to the families of his 3 marriages. They're the ones who count, really. Sadly, it seems like Hull either refused or never got the help he needed.

Heatley was never held accountable. He pled guilty to second degree Vehicular Homicide & got probation. He went on to play hockey in Ottawa, San Jose, Minnesota & Anaheim so he still made his millions. The fatal crash took place in a residential area of Atlanta where lots of people reside. He admitted to consumimg alcohol before the crash though he was under the legal limit when tested with a breathylizer. He got lucky when Snyder's parents rightly or wrongly went to bat for him when they spoke to the Fulton County District Attorney. They got the DA to reduce charges from first to 2nd degree VH. From what I understand, just with his dealings with his agents along the way & teams he played for, Heatley's not the nicest guy either. But he's forgiven. It was an 'accident".
-
But if that negligent one off kills someone??? Well.., Heatley was an adult, He should have known that his actions that night were dangerous & could kill someone. He didn't care.
-
I have a lot of respect for what alcohol does to a person. I have the occasional drink but like you have always stayed away from it. I drank more in my younger & single years. After seeing what it can do, I got the education of a lifetime. Yes, you're right. You didn't mention Heatley. That was Noeller saying it was an accident therefore forgivable. I apologize for the mix up. As far as my personal life, I didn't mention it for sympathy. Just for my experience dealing with alcoholism. So, no worries. I think Hull must've had a hard time dealing with all the publicity he got. That he was constantly under the limelight even decades after retirement & he had no idea how to deal with the pressure that came with it so alcohol helped ( he thought) to calm him down. Instead, he just snapped. I don't condone anything he did or said. It was really bad.
-
Well luckily, I don't answwer to you. You just keep telling yourself that Heatley killing his teammate was an accident & not murder. They call it Vehicular Homicide in the States, He only got off because Dan Snyder's parents didn't want to press charges. So, the entitled athlete beat the wrap. No surprise there. The Fulton County DA was going to send him to jail for the rest of his life,

How can you compare what Hull said & did to what Graham James did??? I'd love to be able to open the closet on most people here criticizing Hull & find out what they're all hiding in their closets that make them experts on how people should be judged. Domestic violence is wrong. been married for nearly 40 years & never once ave I lifted my hand to strike my wife. The Hitler thing he saidm yeah, crazy talk. And he deserved critism. I don't like what he said & marvel at how he could have been so stupid to have said that to a reporter as Bobby was definitely media savvy. For all we know he was liquored up when he said it. Which doesn't make it right. My dad when he got drunk said some hurtful & bizarre things that were totally out of his character when he was sober. Therefore, who is the "real" person??? The one spouting **** when he's drunk & me almost punching his lights out when I got older? Or the quiet one who barely talks when he's sober?? That was my father.
-
And alcoholism or drug addiction isn't unintentional??? Man, aren't you a forgiving person. Yep, when I grow up I want to be an alcoholic & hurt people that I love beyond anything imaginable. FFS. And don't get me started on Heatley. Spoiled athlete with too much money who raced thru the streets of Atlanta at 200 kph killing his teammate. As bad as that is, it could have been worse as he could have taken other innocent people with him. that's okay because it was"accidental????"
-
Both. I come from an alcoholic family. There's no difference. Three marriages. Lots of scorched Earth in each family. Believe me, I know. So it's sad.. However, I can tell you that no one who is born wants to be a an alcoholic. They never asked for it.
-
Alcoholism is not an excuse. It's a disease. And if you had personal experience with it then you'd know just how devastating it is & how it can change someone's behaviour & personanlity. Comparing Hull to a serial rapist & sex offender like Nygard is just daft. I don't agree with what Hull said at all & if he didn't regret it well then he's now in a place where he will be judged for what he did & said in his life. I don't agree with anything Hull said about Hitler. However, there'd be no World Hockey Association without him & therefore no Winnipeg Jets & no NHL in Canadian cities deemed too small to support professional hockey. If you find his views repugnant, then I'd suggest you stop supporting the Jets & the NHL as it was Hull who brought pro hockey to town. You should do everything you can to make sure the team leaves Winnipeg because it was Hull who helped bring it here. Are you going to do that? The man is dead. For now, let him RIP.
-
I'll repeat as best I can a tweet I saw today from Peter Young regarding Bobby Hull. "Craig McTavish killed two people. Hockey forgave him. Dany Heatley killed his best friend. Hockey forgave him. Ovie promotes Putin. We forgive him." Bobby Hull had his demons & he was far from the perfect human being as he was presented to the public by the NHL as a blonde haired handsome athlete with a huge smile. It was common knowledge that Hull was an alcoholic when he played for the Jets. When he got drunk he got owly & angry. He was married three times because of it. I know from personal experience just how alcohol can make a person crazy or say crazy things. Nobody asked to be an alcoholic or to suffer the behavioural issues that go with it. Hitting your wife or any woman for that matter is totally wrong. Supposedly spouting off about Hitler to a reporter shows bad judgement. However, drinking oneself into a stupor shows bad judgement as well. As far as what Hull allegedly said about Hitler? The Moscow Times??? Sorry, I don't trust any Russian publication or anything they print. If he said it then obviously he was wrong & you have to wonder if the reporter pumped him full of drinks to get that quote.

It's not so much them missing out. He didn't want to play there. Simple as that. Craig Dickenson has created such a toxic locker room & keeps saying stupid things publicly that the really good free agents are just saying No Thanks to playing there. TSN appeasing that ******* fanbase again. -
How many people are showing up?
-
Well, you have a good day then.

I don't think much of Lawrence & a lot of what Ball says is true about him but he's the Riders pbp announcer & shouldn't be engaging this social media **** with him. He'll be unemployed if the Ti Cats want to make something out of this as it's totally unprofessional. -
Can you be more specific? I've watched that offense & I don't see the connection.

I miss Romo doing that as well but was he neutered or just decided to stop? It isn't just old guys being out of it but the Mannings are as well. During one of their chats earlier this season they showed Mahomes making one of his crazy looking throws. Peyton told the audience something like this, Hey you kids that are quarterbacks. If you think that you can throw the way Mahomes does, you can't. So forget it as he's a freak". Eli just shook his head yes in agreement. The way Mahomes throws is 110% teachable. The way coaching qbs are being taught these days, the types of throws Mahomes & others make will become a normal thing. Kids are being taught all over the place. My son Tyler does with his qbs in Seattle. He used to throw like Manning when he played & taught that method until two years ago when he switched. He believes strongly that the New Way (as he calls it) is more natural & easier on a young qb's throwing arm,. shoulders & elbows. He said had he learned to throw this way when he was young that he'd still be playing. What Manning said on ESPN was so wrong. He's not Bradshaw's age. He's in his fourties. So, it's just not the old guys that are irrelevant. Two? That first game sucked after Purdy got hurt. How can a 15 year veteran be so damned clueless as a qb??? Why is he even on an NFL roster??
-
When I saw our Eastern road trip, I just had a feeling this would happen. We don't seem to play up to the level of the better teams. That could be part of the problem.

Hard for Bowness to change the culture in half a season after a decade of the last regime. Then giving the team to Dave Lowry was a huge mistake. It'll take time. If anything, it was Cheveldayoff who kept maurice around longer than he should have. then hired Lowry to be the IC. One wonders why he keeps getting a pass for all the problems this team has had from Chipman. #jobforlife
