  1. I guess that puts to bed whether to keep Darnold over McCarty.
  2. Glad we agree on something. A lack of pressure & stromg pass rush wlll be be our undoing, I believe. Obviously, the coaching philosophy on defensehas changed.
  3. Just one part. of course, The lack of a pass rush on Nick Arbuckle where on just about every play he could have signed his name on very football he threw. No pressure. No adapatation by Younger to what the Argos were doing offensively. (Probably because with the players we had playing on the Front 7 we couldn't). Shmeckel & Thomas just taking up space on the DL while Jefferson was having a great game all by himself. But that's okay, Blame the usual suspects like everybody does after every loss. The offense. We all know it was all their fault. Defense was stellar.
  4. Our D was not good. Our secondary bailed us out time & time again.
  5. If you saw the Detroit Lions defense totally take apart the Minnesota Vikings high powered offense last week you'd recognize it was the same style D that we used in 2021 & 22. We didn't need to blitz. Our Front 7 dominated. We had a great front 4 & linebacking crew. We had Jefferson & Jeffcoat on the ends as well as Steve Richardson at DT & we intimidated other teams. Our secondary was the best in the CFL at the time because of the players playing in front of them. Now, we have no pass rush, average linebackers when Bighill doesn't play & below average when he does. We are just a shell of what we were. As a team, we spend all our money on offensive players to the point where we let our defense & return game just shrivel up. We have to rebuild our D. Get back to a more physical style of play.
  6. These games are absolutely pointless until a city steps up & says that it's willing to build a 25-30,000 seat stadium. they have to find events that will help build the game in the CFL cities we have. Like Calgary & Edmonton. The league's strength used to be in Alberta but now it's the CFL's weakness. Doing it in Victoria or Halifax is nice but a waste of time. Sorry Kate Bierness, guess no ROADDD TRIPPP east or west for you. Here's the thing that bothers me about TSN. They'll pack up their **** & do a remote panel from Hamilton or BMO Field 3 or 4 times a season but go nowhere else. Why in God's name would they not want to come to Winnipeg to experience the Banjo Bowl??? That should be on their Top 3 things to do as a panel & broadcaster of CFL games. Go to where the excitement is & where the big games are. Other than playoff & Grey Cups it doesn't get any better than what we experience that game at PAS. Yet they stay in Toronto. Then they get all excited about some half assed football game on the East Coast where they get to travel & party while half the fans are from Regina. At least in Victoria, the Lions fans from that city showed up.
  7. Guess he's not going to the Riders, after all.
  8. I just hope & pray for the people in those firestorms.
  9. Just never make him the heir apparent to Walters which is a concern of mine. It probably wouldn't be a surprise if he was drinking while he posted as well.
  10. I think the title of this thread is in very poor taste. People lost their lives & property down in the LA area. But that's okay, let's yuck it up for a hockey game. Not saying you should get rid of it but in your zeal to be clever maybe next time pause a second to think about it before you press Enter.
  11. Probably like football in Calgary. The fees are a higher but they cover the cost of the equipment. Hockey need not be for the rich & elite but things won't change, I beleve.
  12. He's injury prone up here on the larger CFL field. He'd be in the infirmary most of the season with the close confines of an NFL field. The NFL is much more physical because the receivers don't have the room they have in the CFL.
  13. I coached football here in Calgary for many years at all levels. From atom (8-9) to pee wee (10-12) to bantam (13-14), high school to spring league (15-17 no grade 12's can play) & high school (15-18). At every level, the teams in the leagues provided the equipment at no charge. Teams fit their players & with the exception of the bantam league which owns all of their equipment & is stored in a warehouse somewhere in Calgary, the rest of the teams fund & replenish their own equipment storing it themselves in their own clubhouses. One of the attractions for kids to play football is that for a fee of $500-900 everything is provided for the players. Fees have shot up since Covid. the cost of equipment, especially modern helmets have increased significantly. A portion of the fees charged does go back to the leagues themselves but teams use the remainder of the fees to help finance running a team. Parents must provide a post dated cheque for up to $1500 if they decide not to return the equipment before a certain date on the cheque. It's a lot of money but only gets cashed if equipment is not returned. Why can't hockey do this?
  14. Not to the point of harassing people like Lyle Bauer in the way that he did which became very, very personal.. At first, it may have been amusing. Then it became strange like he was obsessed with Bauer. Nate has been banned almost everywhere on CFL social media. I think Nate has a couple of screws loose inside his head.
  15. Anyone really think he'll last down there or he's nothing more than training camp fodder for the Jets? I think he'll be back but we'll have to sign him as other CFL teams will jump when he's cut.
  16. Not the last 3 Grey Cup championships.
  17. Thanks for bringing down the paywall.
  18. We want excellent football, Not decent football. Those teams win championships.
  19. One thing I've learned about serious career football coaches is that for most of them their word means ****. They'll tell you something that they know you want to hear. Make a promise & then break their word & do something else. Not all of them. There are some decent & kind assistants & head coaches around whose word is their bond. But the majority are so busy worrying about being fired, chasing another job or looking to leave where they are at present that it just consumes them. They have very few friends outside of football. Chris Jones fits that description to a tee.
  20. He truly became a very bitter old man.
