2022/2023 Off-Season (League/Non-Bombers-specific News)
SpeedFlex27 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Evans can't carry Willy's bag of footballs if you compare the two. Willy's OL here was light years worse than anyone else's. He never publicly blew up on any of his teammates like Evans did. He took his lumps & suffered silently while we thrashed him as a shitty qb. Evans would have been in a straightjacket in a padded cell had he played behind that cruddy **** of an offensive line while being criticized to the bone by us, the fans & media. Willy never had a chance to have success here. The damage was done once that ankle & foot injury happened & Willy tried to resurrect his career in Toronto a year later. -
If Trump was arrested it could start a Civil War, that's the danger. The guy would love it.

Well, well, it looks like 17to85 gets the mic drop. -
Nah, didn't fall for it. I went to check new sources & no one was reporting it so I figured it was fake.

It's over....

I was sitting in my surgeon's office this morning regarding my upcoming knee replacement on April 19th & I saw a tweet about Bruce Willis passing away. I checked some internet news sources & couldn't find a thing. I guess he hasn't passed away (which is good) but he's in pretty rough shape with Aphasia & Alzheimer's. Poor guy. He's the same age as I am. His birthday is coming up on March 19th.

Or until the success rate improves. That's one surgery that scares the crap out of me if I ever had to have it. -

Willy was one tough quarterback. He took a lot of **** from an inferior line, Maybe the worst all time in the CFL when he started here. As well as **** from the Bomber fanbase. It was a brutal gig for the guy to play here & yet he did. Evans? He'd get smacked around a bit & fall apart blaming everyone but himself. There's no comparison between the two. Seeing just how good our OL has become, I wonder how he'd have done if he played today. Evans is soft. -

Evans problem are the demons in his head. If he doesn't get control of that then he'll be of no use to anyone. He's beginning to run out of time. Once he was considered being on the cusp of becoming an elite qb Now he's become a journeyman backup. He obviouisly lost Orlando Steinhauer's respect & his patience or he'd have released him earlier to find a team as a free agent. As it stands, the Lions gave up some later picks in the 2024 CFL Draft. Kinda like the Bombers deal with Edmonton to get Mattt Nichols. The Bombers gave up a 7th round pick & a bag of football to the Esks (their name at the time). Nichols sure made the best of things. Only another major foot injury ended his career. He was playing weel before he got hurt & was never the same afterwards. Will Evans do the same? Will he resurrect his career? -

Lloyd Fairbanks was a great OL for a long time. He should have been in the Hall years ago. He was a CFL Western Conference All Star in 1978, 79, 82 & 90. As well as a CFL Eastern Conference All Star in 1984, 85 & 86, He was an All Canadian in 1979 & 82. -
You don't think both political parties influence the way things go? The problem is the Conservatives yell louder than the NDP. Everything is No. We need a new hospital. No. We need to spend on education. No. We need to spend on infrastructure. No. We need more Police. No. We need a new arena. No No. No. Whenever Conservative politicians say no it makes headlines. That was Jeremy Farkas (Calgary 2021 UCP Mayoral candidate ) modus operandi for 4 years. Make headlines by saying no to everything & cut property taxes even if it meant drastic cuts in services. Fight with Nenshi constantly. The UCP mayoral candidate hated everything & everyone who was against him. He lost. I get the felling he now realizes he was played as a sucker by the Powers That Be in the UCP & by losing he had no political friends anymore. They dropped him like a hot potato.

Hiow can anyone say 12,000 people to a one game event is a success? I mean, if they were able to fill a temporary 25,000 seat stadium made up of bleacher seats I could understand it. But like you, I don't get it. There was no hype. Except TSN. Football fans in Atlantic Canada are so used to going to New England or New York to watch the NFL. There's no CFL tradition there. No one cares. -

Man, don't even consider back surgery. Stay away from it. All it'll do is put you in a wheelchair once you mess with your spine & discs. . -

They'll freeze you from the waist down so you'll be asleep in kind of a nether world. You won't be totally out. If you're "lucky" like I was, you'll wake up before they're finished with your knee & you'll hear the sound of a drill... Zeee, zeee, zee & a hammer.. ting, ting, ting. And hope to God the freezing doesn't come out too soon. That'll be my fate again on April 19th for my 2nd knee replacement. Then the fun begins with the healing & physio for both of us. -
The NDP has more intergrated memberships than the other political parties. If you're a member of a provincial NDP then you're also a member of the NDP federally. To me, this means that the federal wing will have more influence over its provincial counterparts & use that influence even if a province has an NDP government. Jagmeet Singh & Rachel Notley clashed over climate action & her support of the O & G industry in Alberta when she was AB Premier much to Singh's dismay. Even though she brought in a carbon tax. She was also concerned about worker's rights as well as opposed to climate p;olicies that would cause Alberta to lose jobs in that industry. That's how I see it. Municipal politics seem different. I can't explain it.

To everyone who doesn't understand how Alberta works politically, well this is for you I never said I was supporting the UCP just because I answered a question by 17to 85 in a way he didn't like. What do I get? A ******* lecture for no reason. I don't like the UCP's politics. It pisses me off that I can be accused of being some kind of disloyal piece of **** on this board because I answered a god damned political question that 99.999999999999999 ******* percent of you know the answer to. At the same time why do I have to justify anything here????? It also pisses me off that a couple of posters sit here in judgement of others in their own little private Court of Opinion because they can't figure things out on their own. Well, my answer is if you don't like what people say at least respect their opinions & figure it out for yourselves. And if you hate living in Alberta so much then go live somewhere else. Alberta is the bastion of conservatism. It's been that way since the 1930's with the exception of 4 years. We all know that. So, why is there a surprise that Danielle Smith is ahead in the popular vote? She sits ar 46% which is 7th in Canada among sitting Premiers so it's nothing to be proud of. Anyone who can't figure it out is either clueless or has lived in a cave their entire ******* life, I hate the alt right as much as I hate the alt left. I'm a MOTR voter. There's nowhere to go for me. The A;berta party is a joke so I'm not voting for them. I don't appreciate being lectured, berated & accused of being a bad person for something I never said or did. It sucks. Like I said in 5 years my wife & I are outta here.
-
You asked a question. I answered it. That's all I did. So calm down. Take a little blue pill & get some sleep. You need it. Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it wrong. You should know that by now. It's been like that here since the 1930's with Social Credit. Don't get mad at the Messenger like 17to85 just did. I ******* hate Smith by the way. In 5 years my wife & I are out of here.
-
Oh yeah, I curled there many times.
-
People would rather have Danielle Smith than Rachel Notley answering to Jagmeet Singh who would be calling the shots. Simple as that. The NDP in Alberta take their marching orders from the Champagne Socialist Singh at the HO in Ottawa.

Needs a new baseball stadium. The old one is abandoned & rotting away. It'll never get built. Needs a new football stadium. It will never be built in my lifetime. Needs a new fieldhouse. Unbelieivably, it's been on the books to build for the past 60 years but has never been financed. Edmonton has 3 fieldhouses. It will never be built. Year #4 of negotiations for a new arena. They had an agreement in place until our stupid Mayor decided she wanted solar panels on the building & other "climate mitigation" that would have cost $12 million after the agreement was signed. Flames walked away from the deal just weeks before shovels were in the ground. After 12 months, they went back to negotiations & started from the beginning again. Meanwhile inflation has probably pushed the coat of the arena from $600 million to nearly a billion. Yeah sure, great city. It used to be. Not anymore.
