2022 CFL Season - Non Back 2 Back Champs News
SpeedFlex27 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'd take Fajardo over Evans. The Riders OL killed his confidence. Evans is just a headcase. I just can't see Hamilton sticking with him next season. I'm not saying that Fajardo is a great qb but in the right situation he could be a solid starter. That's just my opinion, FWIW. A qb can have all the physical tools but if he can't handle the pressure of being a starter then those tools mean nothing. That's how I see Evans. He just can't get it done when the chips are down. -
As Bob Irving would have said, "One game does not a career make."

Fajardo would do well in Hamilton with Steinhauer & Condell. He's a better qb than Dane Evans. As much as Fajardo does whine, ***** & complain, could you imagine Evans with that circus in Regina? He'd have Dickenson telling him lies & Maas screaming at him. He'd sink lfaster than a Mafia hit in cement shoes. -

He isn't healthy & he won't be 100% when he plays. -

Thinking this came down from O'Day. Another reason the Riders are what they are. -

I want to see us sign at least one legit interior pass rusher & run gapper in free agency than go after Mauldin. That would be money better well spent, IMO. -

I'm surprised by this. The Riders are still in the hunt for a crossover playoff spot. To me, Fajardo is a better qb than Mason Fine. He's inexperienced & has only started what, one game? I don't think he'll play any better against the Stamps than Fajardo would have. If Dickenson is looking for Fine to be a difference maker, it won't happen. This is why the Riders are who they are & why changes need to be made from the GM down to the HC. If the Riders were out of a playoff spot, I'd agree & say sure give Fine the start. But in this situation, with a playoff spot on the line why make a change? Strange timing. As much as all of you hate Fajardo, I think he still is their best option at qb to win. -

Bad take, actually. Jeffcoat & JEfferson are by far the best tandem of defensive ends in the CFL. Our interior defensive line is the problem & has been all year. Fix that &watch the two bookends go to town. Then watch Adam Bighill & the linebackers step it up. Like the offense with the OL, the DL is the foundation of a great defense. Not surprised we've struggled on defense with the lack of a push from those two DT positions. -

Has there been an update on the Chris Kolankowski knee injury? -
Zach Collaros: "We have guys like Adam Bighill, Paddy (Neufeld), Jake (Thomas) and Stan (Bryant) and Willie (Jefferson) and Jackson (Jeffcoat), Mikey (Couture) and Jessie (Briggs). Guys that I kind of sit back and I watch and try to take something from them. The way they conduct themselves. Not just in the building but at home with their families, too. I think I've grown a lot personally. So, I try to go out of my way to thank those guys for that and the way they handle themselves". I love that quote because Zach mentioned Jessie Briggs who has been a Bomber now for nearly a decade. How cool is that? A backup linebacker who has seen a few starts when there were injuries in the linebacking corps & a hardworking special teams player. Not just that, though. What a nice compliment coming from a player like Collaros. I'm sure Briggs appreciates it. A Jessie Briggs story: In 2002, Jessie was an undersized running back for the Pee Wee team I coached with called the Southwest Calgary Wildcats. When I say undersized, If he stood 4 1.2 feet tall & weighed 80 lbs soaking wet that was a bonus. He played against linebackers who were 70 lbs heavier, His fullback was 160 lbs. My son Tyler was the Wildcats qb. These kids were 11 & 12 years old. We breezed thru the season 8-0 winning the South Division crown, We crushed our semi final opponent & then we faced our biggest rival, the Nothwest Calgary Cowboys who routinely won championships in pee wee & bantam every year. Their coaches & players always carried a swagger back then. They knew they were good & we hated them. They didn't like us much either. They went 7-1 with their only loss being against us in the regular season. We met the Cowboys in the Pee Wee City Final. It was a defensive game as it was 0-0 with only 2 or 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter. We called a run play up the middle between our Center & Right Guard. They both opened up a hole & little Jessie shot through for a 70 yard touchdown run. No one was going to catch him & we won the game 8-0. Converts were worth 2 points as they're not easy to do for 11 & 12 year olds. We won the game & Jessie was the hero. We went on & beat a team from Edmonton to win the Provincial Pee Wee Championship. Jessie & his family moved to Kelowna in the off season after pee wee & he continued playing. I never saw him again until the Bombers drafted him & he had grown into a 225 lb linebacker playing for the Bombers. Now he's a 2 time Grey Cup champion. a leader on the team & hopeully going for a three peat. I'm sure Jessie remembers scoring that TD against the Cowboys, 20 years ago. It sure is a great memory.

That is exactly my point. When a coach rests his starters, he's basically trading the chance to win over protecting his players. Considering everything, O'Shea should be satisfied (maybe not happy) with the way the team played on Saturday. I don't necessarily buy the line that losing sucks because he didn't dress his best team. He knew the Bombers would be at a big disadvantage by not playing all his starters. BTW, I agree guys like Collaros should be protected & players like Neufeld, Yoshi & Bryant needed rest. I just was surprised with Coach's comments, that's all. -

I saw the Calgary Sun headline that O'Shea was unhappy we lost. As good a coach as he is, I just don't get the mindset. He rests a number of veterans, plays a rookie qb in his first start & we go into BC Place & put up 32 points on a high scoring team that really should have blown us up. We have three missed FG's & 2 pick 6's. take those away we win going away. If Mike O'Shea hates losing so much, then he should play his starters & win. He should be satisfied that his 2nd string qb looks like he has the potential to be a starter for us. that the backups played hard & the overconfident Lions had to work hard to beat us. -

maybe it was me but I sawRourke just sneering on the sidelines obviously enjoying the going on by the Lions. They think they can beat us, well bring it, fools. -

Rourke will be a sitting duck if he plays. He won't have the escapability he once had. Our 2 Defensive Ends will have their fill of the guy. -

With your posting style, the last guy you should criticize here is Booch. Unreal. You love arguing & stirring the pot with everyone. So you were called a name. Get over it. Ever thought that your arguing is becoming so damed annoying. -
Life goes on. Restrictions are (probably) over. As we see, society is just getting on with it.

I was going to say the noose is tightening in Saskatchewan but there'll be no firings.
-
Evans sure looks like a bust as a starting qb. For every big play he makes he has 2 bad ones.

Not arguing either but short yardage is all he has to show for as a "veteran" qb. -
I think it was.

He can't complete a pass over 5 yards. All he can do is short yardage. He really is a crap qb. Sixth or 7th year in the CFL & still can't read a defense. Dom "Cement Head" Davis. What other 30 year old plus qb is doing short yardage?? -

I have a thread started on the Stamps-Ti cats game. I shouldn't have posted here. -
Hamilton kicker Seth Small with a big wind assisted 57 yard FG to give the Cats a 24-15 lead in the 3rd quarter. Simoni Lawrence. If he can't hurt opposing players then start taking out his own. Anyone think Jovon Santos-Knox is overrated?

Ti Cat receivers just suck. Hamilton kicker Seth Small with a BIG wind assisted field goal of 57 yards. Oops wrong thread.
