Not in 1984. Guys didn't show up overweight. They did in the earlier years up to the mid 70's but after that players were expected to work out, lift weights, do cardio & eat right in the off season as they do now. They were on training regimens. Training Camp is pure hell. Why anyone would show up 20 lbs overweight & then suffer for a month afterwards is beyond me. It's just stupidity.

Cal Murphy reallt built up the defense to the point it carried the team & won 2 more championships. That 88 team couldn't normally score but they found a way to score 21 points that first half in the GC & vs BC. Then let the defense win it in the second half. The 90 team was the best D I ever saw as a Bomber fan until now.

I was coaching HS football in Calgary. This would have been 2009. We had our season ending banquet & one of the coaches was able to get Chris Jones as a guest speaker. He sat beside me at the banquet & we had a chance to chat. Seemed like a nice guy. The HC told not to talk about the Stamps when he sat beside me by our Head Coach so I didn't. I thought this was a strange request but I didn't talk about the Stamps as asked. He told our HC he wasn't with the Stamps anymore & asked that it be kept quiet. Jones got up. Talked about playing for & later coaching his HS team. Then moving up thru the coaching ranks & into the CFL in 2002. Then he talked about how Hufnagel wanted him to be more active in recruiting & the CFL Draft as well as coordinating the Stamps free agent camps. This turned out to be a lie as he wasn't with the Stamps anymore. Earlier that day he accepted the position of DC with Scott Milanovich's Argos which caused a huge shouting match between Jones & Huff. They almost came to blows beyween the 2 men. Story goes that he contacted Milanovich as the two were friends. They had a phone conversation & Milanovich hired him on the spot over the phone. He then tendered his resignation which sideswiped Huff as Jones had committed to returning the next season hence the expanding job duties given. Huff was angry & he basically threw Jones out of the Stamps coaching office. That's why I or anyone else weren't allowed to talk with Jones about the Stamps as he wasn't employed by them anymore. Didn't know anything about it at the time but the news came out the next day.

And Tom Clements. Hey, I love Dieter Brock but Clements made a very good Bomber team a great one.

I don't think he wants to play anymore. He didn't seem to care that he couldn't play in the Grey Cup. Some bridges you can't fix.

They need to fine Craig Dickinson, Jeremy O'Day the GM & Rider President Craig Reynolds. If the Riders coaching staff can't control the players then maybe the organization can. Fining those 3 would send a message.

He had a stacked team in calgary as a DC. Including Alex Singleton. Easy to look great as a DC when your D is primarily made up of all stars like it was when he was with the Stamps. Claybrooks was ordinary to subpar when he became HC of the Lions.

The officials need to be accountable. As in, why wasn't Williams thrown out??

Devonne Claybrooks. If there was a head coach in over his head it was that guy. He looked lost all the time. Just like Tim Burke.

Williams almost hit that coach trying to break things up. He swung hard & nearly connected. Stupid & dangerous which should have got him ejected.

Kinda like the Riders in a lot of ways. Players in Hamilton seem to be running the asylum. Evans allowed to sulk, pout, point fingers & cry when things go wrong. He should have been read the riot act back in 19 after the Grey Cup. He hasn't changed. Still a self centred athlete who thinks everything revolves around him. I'm really not impressed with Evans at all. Especially after he had to be consoled by Nick Arbuckle who has his own problems.

Dane Evans has to grow a set & start acting as well as playing like a leader. Not this, "Boo hoo. Wahhh, Poor me" bullshit. Toughen up, quit crying & own it. Or retire & do something else. To me, Evans is a major part of the problems the Ti Cats have.

Thanks to the Argos today & our win last night, the rest of the Westwern Division is now officially in chase mode as we have a 2 game lead over the Riders & the Stamps. Three game lead over the Lions.
