  1. We're talking kickers. Not sailors from a shipwreck. Every personnel guy in the NFL knows who Lirim is & what he can do. If he was what they were looking for, he'd have been signed long ago & still kicking in the NFL. There's obviously something they don't like or trust in his ability to kick a football thru the uprights.
  2. Michael Zenon who played Joe two Rivers on Forest Rangers died earlier this year at age 89. The date of his death unknown. Zenon, who was born in the Ukraine & came to Canada in 1948 with his family. Before he became an actor, he had many interesting jobs. He worked as an oil worker, bulldozer operator, driller, miner, trucker, depth sounder & dynamiter during the construction of the St. lawrence Seaway. In order to play Two Rivers, he wore a black wig to hide his blonde hair. Zenon was not only an actor but he also later became involved behind the camera as an Assistant Director for which he continued until his death. In his younger days, he liked to race Porsches & belonged to a few race clubs in Southern Ontario. Zenon as an Assistant Director on the set of the Movie Body Parts.
  3. You also are a realist. How much salary can a player lose until it's not worth it anymore.
  4. He just doesn't get the hint. If he was this great NFL kicker in waiting then he'd have been signed long ago. Meanwhile some young strong legged & accurate kickers are coming out of the NCAA every year who are 10 years younger than him. His career & he can do what he wants to, I guess.
  5. Bezos is a POS but I don't get the connection to separaratism. Paladeau still believes in it even though it hurts his financial bottom line. I think he also believes that if Quebec separated he'd control the media in a country of $8 million & still be rich. Besides, a media company can do business in other countries so it doesn't matter anyway.
  6. It does but back then it was racism that was hidden. Today, it's out in the open. people are aware that it happens so there's more dilligence by media & Canadians.
  7. Separatists including Paladeau don't think like that. They're idealogues. They don't care about Quebec becoming a third world country. It's about language & preserving culture that somehow English Canada has or have tried to have taken away. Sure, their language, culture & finances would suffer more as the language of business with the largest economy in the world is English. Instead of trailblazing Quebec culture it would shrivel up but that doesn't matter. They want out & that's all there is to it. As far as Paladeau losing his economic self worth? he did run for the leadership of the PQ. he's not stupid. He knows what the outcome would be if Quebec did separate.
  8. Where the hell is Lirim Hajrullahu these days? He has totally disappeared into oblivion. And he's wasted 3 seasons bouncing around NFL teams looking for the big paycheque & glory in the NFL. Which doesn't seem to be coming his way. It's his life & his career but he's not getting any younger. He should consider coming back to the CFL that wants him.
  9. Quebecor would certainly know how to market the team to French Canadians that owners like Stern & Wettenhal couldn't have done. The problem I see is that Quebecor doesn't have a broadcast platform with RDS owned by Bell Canada. I don't know how they can make any money off the team.
  10. It's not anti French related. It's anti Canada. Paladeau wants to breaak the country up. He sat as a member of the PQ in the Quebec legislature & ran for its leadership a decade ago. No separatist govt has ever been elected in Alberta. No one separatist has ever been elected to the AB legislature. There are a lot of people in A;berta sniping about Ottawa & especially Trudeau but to say we're somehow lesser Canadians here in Alberta because we complain about Ottawa than someone from Quebec who actually espouses the breakup of our country is mind boggling. You're talking apples & oranges. I have no idea why you act so surprised when people mention Paladeau is a separatist & that's somehow anti French. No, it's not. Like what country have you lived in the past 40 years???
  11. That was a great show. Look at the subject this episode was based on. Racism by police & the Canadian justice system. Assumed all Indians were drunks & presumed guilty just because they were Indians. This is 1963. Not 2023.
  12. He has no media platform as RDS & Quebecor are two separate companies. RDS would be Bell Media.
  13. He's been our GM since Day 1. Chipman won't fire him no matter how bad it gets. Job for life.
  14. I dunno. That's your opinion. By giving Chevy a job for life, we'll never find out.
  15. Why would a separatist like Pierre Paladeau want the Als? This is a head scratcher. I think one of the reasons Quebec City doesn't have an NHL team is because the NHL didn't want the political baggage that would have come with his ownership. I mean, what will he want? A French GM & Head Coach??
  16. Picard is sure making up for it this season.
  17. I"m amazed at what's happened to Craig Dickenson. It must be the culture of Riderville. he's totally changed. The guy has taken on a villainous persona. We saw how he treats players that have fallen out of favour with him. We saw how he constantly defended Garrett Marino last season after he injured Jeremiah Massoli. Most coaches would have cut him on the spot but not Dickenson. A few days ago, he was mouthing off again to the media about something he was unhappy about. Like I said, he used to be one of the league's good guys. Now he's becone an asshat.
  18. Walker is over the hill. Too old. Lots of miles on that creaky body. He'll have some great games but he'll also disappear during an 18 game season.
  19. That entire Discovery series should have been called Star Trek: Lost... Plot lines were grey & cloudy. Some things made no sense at all. Like the Klingons. The 2 greatest villains they had they got rid of... Lorca & Georgiou. Lots of crying every episode from Captain Burnham. Everything was so huggy feely. My gosh what a happy ship. Buh bye. Get lost.
  20. I'd love to see more plays of Sterling rushing the passer. He got great leverage on the RT & used his momentum to push him away. If he had a big gut he'd look like Reggie White as that was his move.
  21. I just want to add my brother in law passed away suddenly in 2011. He left behind 2 kids who are now grown. His oldest daughter has 3 kids of her own with a fourth on the way so he missed out being a grandfather. His curling team also played summer baseball on the same team together for years & they frequently golfed together so as you can see they were truly close. He loved sports & even found time to coach little league. He had no kids on the teams he coached.
  22. HNIC mic'd up the penalty box during a Leafs home game at the Gardens vs the Flyers in the mid 70's. Bobby Clarke got a penalty he didn't like & all of Canada watching that game heard the swear filled tirade that Clarke directed at the referee. Thousands of complaints came into the CBC by phone & they never did that again. However, I don't think Clarke forgot the penalty box was mic'd up. I think he did that delibderately. Maybe he felt mic'ng up the penalty box went too far. Or maybe he just wanted to be a big **** head that night. Lol.
  23. I remember that exhibition game Meleschuk played against Vera Pezer the 1972 Canadian Women's champ. She dominated women's curling at that time like Duguid had done for the men. She challenged Meleschuk to a Battle Of The Sexes match. The media jumped all over it. And CBC set it up on their saturday afternoon show called CBC's Wonderful World of Curling". I read that Meleschuk wanted no part of this game but gave in because of the pressure to play. So, in November 1973, they played the game on the CBC network.. If any of you remember Meleschuk's delivery it was a high backswing out of the hack & then a flat foot slide down the ice while holding the broom in his left arm at shoulder level. Nobody knew how pissed off Meleschuk was & how he had spent awhile in the lounge at the St james Civic Centre drinking his anger away to go play. I think he felt trapped by the hype & was forced to play aganst his will. There was nothing for him to gain by playing this game. He was the reigning Men's world champion. Orest was half cut by game time. So, his first shot, with a cigarette in his mouth, he came flying out of the hack & nearly fell over. Only his natural strength kept him upright. I remember Don Wittman calling the game exclaiming, "Ohhhh, the ship's a little unsteady!" I think Pezer beat him that day but in typical Meleschuk style he just shrugged it off as in "Who cares?"
  24. My brother in law travelled with his regular team from Assiniboine Memorial to Green Bay Wisconsin in July for a summer bonspiel back in the 80's. I think threy might have won the thing but I can't remember. My bro in law was a helluva curler. He could make all the shots. He curled with his buddies. They curled together for years. He could have left them & played on a better team & challenge for the provincial crown but he wasn't like that. He loved curling with his team. They were all high school friends & very close.
