  1. We need Ellingson & Alexander back.
  2. Injuries. I'd like to see us play Calgary fully healthy.
  3. Yes, we could have kicked for 3 on the last play of the half.
  4. Bombers go all the way downfield & come away with zip.
  5. Dunigan: "Monson wondering what he has to do???" Me: "WTH does Hall has to do?"
  6. The Stamps should have started Maier all season long. He's burning our secondary.
  7. The receivers for the Stamps seem to have a little extra spring in their steps playing for Maier compared to Mitchell.
  8. Why? What's changed since Shivers left? Please let me know.
  9. It had to. Those kind of experiences would definitely affect the way Shivers looked at life. The problem was, he never really looked for the best player. He'd look for the best black player. Or coach. As a GM, you can't bring that kind of baggage with you to work. You have to be open minded & bring in the best players & coaches regardless of colour or race.
  10. I do as well. But Shivers ran the Riders a certain way. He brought in a certain type of player. He set the culture in place for what is going on now. If you look back to the last couple of years of him as GM, the same stuff that is happening now was happening then. The bad behaviour of players on the field & in the community. Jim Hopson did try to change that culture after he fired Shivers & Barrett but it never totally went away.
  11. I think the very first kick he ever made was 52 yards.
  12. Only plays well in the second half?? Cody, how about playing well the entire game so you don't have to set things right & feel better in the second half?
  13. If you look up Roy Shivers you can see where skin colour affected his outlook & the way he approached life. Born in Arkansas in 1941, his father moved his family from the segregated south when he was young to Oakland, CA. He grew up in what was described as "The Projects". In his neighbourhood, there was only one park where Blacks could play & visit. Years later, he lost the starting qb position with his HS team because the Head Coach didn't want a black qb which enraged him. He grew up & was friends with Black Panthers founding members, Huey Newton & Bobby Seale. While never a member of the Black Panthers, he did agree with their grievances & politics. Here's a comment Riders GM Shivers made about his Head Coach, Danny Barrett, "The one thing I did get right was to hire Danny Barrett. He's a good young black coach. Most of our guys are young black kids. We've got a Head Coach that people like to play for." Skin colour was a big issue with Shivers.
  14. Lapo 4-19 in Ottawa since 2021. 0-3 with Massoli. What's this about being some kind of great coach?? Even with Massoli healthy all season, he'd probably be 2-7 or 3-6. LaPo's a disaster.
  15. Yeah, smirking & laughing. Talking it up to the camera. They look like fools.
  16. I don't think he yelled because he hurt Rourke but because of the sack. Nonetheless, a guy is down on the field so he should've reigned it in.
  17. Roy Shivers & Danny Barrett started the culture we see today over 20 years ago. Shivers always was a loudmouth as a GM. He created this "Us Against Them" mentality with the Rider fans. Barrett as a HC as well. Shivers used to make a big deal about his skin colour. Shivers proudly used to announce that he only scouted black players. You'd think the **** show Shivers created would have gone away once he left but it didn't & it's still going strong today with that fanbase & team. Guys like Thug Garrett Marino, AC Leonard, Nick Marshall & Pete Robertson screaming with elation on the sidelines as Nathan Rourke lay injured on the Mosaic Stadium turf. It was a clean hit but there he was screaming nonetheless. Never seen a team act as badly as the Riders do. I know a few Rider fans who are getting tired of the circus act.
  18. Well, if they didn't suspend Marino after what he did to Jeremiah Massoli, imagine what hemight have done getting a 1 game suspension? Has there been a serial killing in Regina? Kidnapping? Carjacking? It's not because of what Gott did. It's a Covid restriction from what I understand.
  19. Some posters here don't think much of Geoff Gray but to me he's a valuable player along that line where he can play guard or slide out to tackle if need be. He's not the problem at starting LG, it's Neufeld starting at RG. I can't see him playing as a starter much past this season. Always something bothering him which affects his performance. We need someone better if he isn't playing at 100% because of injuries.
  20. One of Walters big jobs this off season will be to to try & rebuild our OL before it gets to 2014 & 15 level of play. Right now, We have enough pieces that we only have to change one or 2 positions. Obviously, Neufeld is on the bubble. If we can sign a talented & younger OG we need to do that. I think he's at the end of the road as a starter. Big Stan hasn't had a dominant season as we're used to but does he have enough in the tank to play another season. He may retire. So, we may also be looking for a new starting LT.
  21. The Rider organization is just hot garbage.
