If there was a health issue, he'd be at training camp, I think.

Eli. not the smartest knife in the drawer. Put himself ahead of the team. You know there were guiys who probably didn't want to get the jab but did it anyway because to them the team meant more. Just a selfish move on his part. With Liam Dobson signing, any fans outside Winnipeg who think this team won't have a chance to 3 peat is living in a fantasy world.

Lol. He's a nice man. I like talking to him. I message him on FB messenger & talk about his days in the CFL. Or he'll have a take on what' s going on now. Interesting to talk to these old veterans who were there as football transitioned to the game we know now.

One of the best photos ever. Jim Furlong played a long time with the Stamps & was an excellent player. He was an OLB but he could alao played receiver. Thing is, Furlong was born in Winnipeg but moved to Lethbridge where he played HS football. After HS, he attended the University of Tulsa. He signed with the Stamps right during the Bomber dynasty. I wonder if he ever wished he was playing for his old hometown team than the Stamps. While the Bombers were winning Werstern Finals & Grey Cups he was watching his team find different & imaginative ways to lose in the playoffs in the 60's. Furlong still lives in Calgary.

Flanker Ken Nielsen #21 jumps hign & makes a great catch in a crowd during a 1969 pre season game at Winnipeg Stadium. Covering for the Calgary Stampeders are (left to right) Outside Linebacker Jim Furlong #70, Cornerback Frank Andruski #24 & Defensive Back Larry Robinson #15. Back in the day when teams played 4 pre season games they didn't put striping or logos on the helmets. That was for the regular season only.

He's already under investigation by the RCMP for voter fraud in the 2018 UCP Leadership Race. That there was voter fraud which screwed Brian Jean out of winning that race. Of course, the RCMP is still investigating after 4 years. There's been no update from them in over 2 years.

2022 Off Season - Back 2 Back Champs Edition

Except for your last paragraph that seems to be a shot at some posters here regarding Man Love about Streveler, I agree with the other stuff. The Bombers don't need to do whatever it takes to bring him back. We won a GC without him last year. This isn't the same offense he played in during 2019. It's more passing downfield & attack. Not spread out the defense throwing checkdowns & running for first downs. Can Streveler even play in an offense that throws the ball more? He hasn't shown he can be an effective starter. I don't want us overspending for a guy who'll not come cheap & can't throw. Not happy with Dru Brown either. Some decent qbs will be let go in Edmonton. Maybe one of them ends up here. -
I think you're blowing things a bit out of proporton on the future of Alberta. When it comes right down to it Kenney played dirty politics. He was a crook. He cheated to win the UCP leadership in 2018 & he did the same thing with the review. Except that the voters in the ladership review knew that already so it didn't work. For example, just 8 credit cards bought $48,000 worth of new UCP memberships. Who were these 8 individuals with the credit cards? Why aren't their names being released? What candidate were they working for? Were they government credit cards or individual? Why would anyone spend their money on their own credit cards buying memberships? So I think I know the answer to that question. These memberships were bought & paid for by taxpayer dollars. Other accusations include memberships being sold in people's names who didn't buy them. Elections AB is now investigating. Kenney's word could never be trusted. He was as transparent as the Red River. For him, being Premier was going to be a stepping stone to a coronation as leader of the CCP & ultimately PM. Kenney's govt was corrupt. He was a contemptable little man.

Amos Van Pelt.

Fullback Ed Williams. Played for the Bombers from 1971 thru to near the end of the 1972 season. An effective runner & blocker for Mack Herron, he was suddenly cut in mid Septemeber of 72 by then Head Coach Jim Spavital. All kinds of rumours abounded about what happened from sexual misconduct of teenage girls to drug dealing. No charges were ever laid & no one has ever talked so it's impossible to know if any of these rumours were true.

2022 Off Season - Back 2 Back Champs Edition

Yep, but if we find a way to sign Streveler it means we let other guys go that helped us win a Grey Cup which I don't like. In the CFL an addition usually means a subtraction somewhere else with such a tight salary cap. -
Politicians have brought this on themselves from all political parties. Too much partisanship today. Social media has fanned the flames as well. It shouldn't happen but it is. People are feeling left out & disenfranchised. They feel that no one listens to them. This is how they react. But Charest calling out Pollievre? Charest has been part of the problem for 30 years.

2022 Off Season - Back 2 Back Champs Edition

They've invested in Dakota Prukop as the backup. Streveler won't sign for $100,000. He'll want a lot more & probably the chance to compete as a starter. If we couldn't keep players like Harris, Darby, Lawler & Castillo why do you think we can afford Streveler? We all love the guy but financially I don't think it makes sense. Besides, we won the Grey Cup last year without him. He was so important in our GC drive in 19 when LaPo was the OC. Buck does things differently. I mean sure, maybe I'm wrong & you're right. I'd love to see him back here. I just don't think it's doable. -

He won't be back. We're a capped team under the old CBA. -
Real shame about Chuck Ealey. He could have been one of the greats. Ealey had a sensational rookie season winning the Grey Cup in 1972. His play at qb turned the league on its ear that year. By the time we got him for Don Jonas in 74 you could see something was wrong. His play was off. He was taking sacks where before he got away. Throwing interceptions & missing open receivers. He just wasn't the same player. I think Brock's development was a life saver for the team. It enabled them to trade Ealey to the Argos & get Brock in there as a starter. I think Earl Lunsford got lucky with the timeline of Brock's development after he traded Jonas for Ealey. Brock becoming the starter saved his job.

I'll never forget!! I was in Grade 8 in September of 1969. I was sitting in the Salisbury End Zone bleachers in the south end zone. There was a stiff south breeze that day. Ed Ulmer was punting from the end zone where we were. He punted the ball & Boom *** must have travelled 70 yards in the air downfield. It sailed over the Lions returners heads & I remember them sprinting as fast as they could to catch the bouncing ball. Ninety one yards later, BC had a first down. What an awesome punt!

The play by play announcer for the Ti Cats at the time was Bob Bratina. He is one of my Facebook friends. He told me once that Ealey suffered some kind of iower body injury in Hamilton which permanently hampered his mobility. Once he lost that mobility he never was the same.

Well, disingenuos or not, a lot of young players don't really work in any career relying on their football salary to pay the bills. Or work part time somewhere. Before Kurt Warner became rich & famous in the NFL he was playing in the Arena Football League & stocking shelves at night at a supermarket in Iowa. The guy was a college grad so why was he just scraping by as a father & husband? Probably so he'd be free to pursue his football dreams if he got a call. A lot of players are in the same boat.
