  1. Former CKY TV Sporta Director Peter Young's take. https://www.facebook.com/pythesportsguy/videos/1002770450628192
  2. The theatre that night was packed. Weird Al's music may be strange but he's no different from a stand up comic or comedic actor like Seinfeld. He uses music as his platform.
  3. They don't show up then they don't play. They don't play well, there's always stocking shelves at Walgreen's or giving people advice how to build fences at Rona. The young players think football will last forever or they'll never get hurt. So, for them balling out during the season & training in the off season is the only thing the care about. The vets who have been around for awhile know howi mportant football can be in setting up their post football careers & have done so. Most of them can walk away from the game if they had to.
  4. I saw Weird Al Yankovic in concert here in 1995 at the old Odeon Theatre downtown. It was a lot of fun. Amish Paradise was a hoot.
  5. Shout out to Ed Ulmer. He wore #24 & there are no photos of him.
  6. Chuck struggled wihen he was here. His stay lasted an entire year from September 74 to 75 when he was traded to Toronto. He was absolutely unremarkable when he was a Blue Bomber which to me was shocking as he had established himself as one of the CFL's elite qbs. Bud Riley had seen enough & handed the keys of the franchise to an inexperienced Dieter Brock & the rest is history. he never recovered as a qb after his Winnipeg stint. He became a second tier qb for the rest of his career.
  7. No one wants to see this. No one.
  8. Then he needs to STHU & know his role which seems to be butterflies flying & little birds chirping by a beautiful mountain stream on a warm, sunny day. Singing. "All You Need Is Love" while wearing a great scarf. Cum by ya. No, he wrote the letter. He's the face of the league. People listen to what he says. He deliberately muddied the water to confuse the issue. And to make the offer look a lot better than it is. He's as involved as the BOG's.
  9. The letter he wrote & subsequently released by the CFL has nothing to do with him? He took a figure of $18.9 million & presented it in a way that it was never presented before so it can be interpreted in different ways to make it more confusing has nothing to do with him? C'mon, man. According to the way I read it, that means the salary cap is increasing $2.7 million per year over the next 7 years. Do you believe that? We know it's not true. Just tell us what the salary cap is increasing to & by how much per year over the seven years. Be honest. Not this.
  10. And... in breaking news from training camp....
  11. Love how Ambrosie just can't be transparent. He has to muddy the water. He is a joke of a Commissioner.
  12. Roberts didn't put up the numbers Herron did in the CFL & NFL. In 1973, he set an NFL record for combined yards with the Pats. Rushing, catching, kick & punt returns. He accomplished that as a drug addict. Imagine what he could have done if he was clean. Herron's level of talent was eye popping. He dominated both leagues. I'll stick to my statement.
  13. No one talks about TSN. They won't be happy once games start getting cancelled. You can bet they'll put the pressure on to get a deal done. I'm sure there are financial penalties the CFL will have to pay if they can't field teams.
  14. Mack Herron #26. Anyone who saw him play won't ever forget him. He was probably the best "Little Man" running back who ever played the game. With his talent, he should have had the world by the tail. Instead he lived a tragic life after football where he was consumed by drugs & gang life in Chicago. Herron died in 2015 at age 67.
  15. "Prince" Hal Patterson. I want others to partake. Figured I'd leave a few for them.
  16. I don't think so. This is Wade Miller & Scott Mitchell picking a strange time to play hardball. They wear this. Two times nothing is still nothing. He should have retired 3 years ago.
  17. No, not the way the CFL handles it. A smaller league means not as many issues so therefore there should be plenty of time to get a deal done in the off season. Start early January after the Xmas & New Year's break. Yet the leave it to early April. Then we have Randy Ambrosie going to CFL fan meetings saying Cum Bye Ya when it isn't & he knows it. Training camps open tomorrow & there's still no deal done as of this moment. No other league does this. Totally ridiculous.
  18. Is there any other pro sports league who is as bad as the CFL with their collective bargaining agreement negotiations? They do it the same always. Wait until the last minute & then under the gun to get a deal done.
  19. Washington was a helluva back. Had at least one thousand yards season. He & Steve Beaird were pretty damned good. Throw in Richard Crump subbing in & that was a great backfield Dieter Brock had to work with.
  20. I would say looking back all those years that Lirim would probably admit he didn't handle the situation like he would today so he contributed to what happened after. He wasn't the pro he is now.
  21. Okay, back to the countdown. The first player is someone I discussed on the interesting nickname thread... Dave Raimey. Gord Rowland Paul Bennett
  22. I'm embarrassed to say that I was totally wrong. I was describing the Double Wing offense & not the Wing T. It's been 20 years, sorry. Double Wing: No splits on the LOS. Super tight formation. You can see where the FB lines up right behind the QB. No way the Bombers ran this. Wing T: Like the Double Wing based on speed & misdirection to confuse defenders. Split T: This is the base formation I remember seeing whenever the Bombers played under Grant. You can see the wider splits on the OL. This created running lanes for the backs & also spread out the defense. The T refers to the 4 "full house" backfield. Hence the name Split T. Once again, sorry for the mix up on my part. How I got the Double Wing mixed up with the Wing T & Split T is beyond me. I guess I just had my senior moment for the day,
