  1. I didn't see the Harris signing until a couple of minutes ago. Yeah, crazy the money being thrown around. That salary cap must be going up, up, up... If not, a lot of teams will be handcuffed the way the Stamps & Lions were 2-3 years ago. Gawd, please don't remind us of the Dark Ages.
  2. Well, another backup qb bites the dust. Yeah, maybe McGuire had a bit of bad luck in Montreal with the weather conditions but that was his only chance to impress & he didn't. Why do I think rookies like Bo Levi Mitchell, Michael Reilly, Tom Clements, Jeff Garcia, Tracy Ham, Dieter Brock, Doug Flutie & Matt Dunigan would have found a way to impress.
  3. With all the players we lost today, shouldn't that have freed up some money to go out & sign some more of our free agents or others from the CFL pool available? I get we lost some guys but I figured we'd get maybe another receiver or db?? I don't know why we've sat on our hands today.
  4. Schilz signed in hamilton for $125,000. Probably what we were paying Sean McGuire.
  5. What hole? Geoff Gray will fill Desjarlais spot. We may have a depth issue so we may sign another OL. Would I like Eli back? Sure but if he won't get vaxxed then no one will sign him.
  6. Booch, do you think Ricky Collins could fit in here?
  7. I wonder what they said in BC in 2011 when Harris took over in the backfield. "It's a mistake. It's a mistake". But it wasn't. guys have to play to get better.
  8. Don't mention attendance issues in Toronto to any Argo fan. Their typical response is "Really, that's getting old". Like it's no big deal at all when it is. The Argos could play their games at a local high school football field with no stands. The fans could stand single file all next to each other & the line wouldn't make it completely around the playing field.
  9. Ellingson is signed!!! He catches everything thrown at him. Great signing. Why we let darvin go is a headscratcher. He needs blocking help as well. That line was terrible. I don't see a massive upgrade. None of the guys playing OL could start here. Alden Darby is a big loss for our secondary.
  10. You're talking 7 on 7, aren't you?
  11. Trust me when I say this. Myself & a few others here have been watching the Bombers for decades. We've seen a lot of outstanding backs play for us over the years & we'll have others in the future. Harris is a great back & will go down as one of the Bombers best ever. Not the greatest but one of them. We now have 3 young Canadians at running back & they need to play. Harris is breaking down physically at 35. He missed a substantial part of last season as well as a lot of practice time with injuries & maintenance days. You can't have one player not go through the drudgery & hard work of training camp & practices & then just be given back his starting spot on Game Day. That too, causes dissension when others at the same position do the work but don't play. It's time to pass the baton for the Bombers. If he has to go then he has to go.
  12. I absolutely agree but there needs to be a guideline of some kind. But that's too logical for the thick heads running this league to understand.
  13. The way I see it, if Harris leaves, so what? If he wants to leave on good terms that's great. We'll all wish him well. If he wants to leave all pissy because he's not the highest paid back on the team anymore then that's his problem. Things never stay static. Players retire & move on all the time as we know especially in the CFL more than any league. Later today will tell the tale as well. Who leaves & who we sign in free agency. Every team has taken some hits & not just us. So, things tend to even out. The good teams will still be good. The 3 worst teams may or may not be better. They are all concentrating on skill players & very few O & D lineman & that's where games are won & lost. I've never heard of championship teams being built around receivers. We're in good shape when it comes to our lines. A solid foundation.
  14. That's not his problem. It's Jones who opened up the CFL's version of a Brink's armoured truck which is a Volkswagen Jetta trunk to pay Lawler. My point? The League can't go crying to the feds or anyone else saying they have no money & are broke & then do **** like this. I thought the CFL was going to try to fix their business model. Don't you think with a hard cap that there should be a salary grid & the maximum amount that can be paid to each position? Ambrosie said everything would be on the table to discuss from team's business plans to rules & the CFL has done squat. This is total stupisity. Who knows anymore.
  15. That would be funny if he had to play the Western Final here & it's minus 15 with a strong north wind. Stove plays in the CFL. The cold is part of the game up here. If he hates it then sign with the NFL or USFL.
  16. A team's biggest investment is their qb. The other big investment should be the tackle position Rt or LT depending upon whether the qb is left or right handed.
  17. I guess Chicago, Green Bay & Buffalo are off his list of NFL teams to play for.
  18. Just want to add to my post... Huff spends big bucks on Noodle Arm & Jake Maier. And he lets his left tackle go to free agency. The first big one was Stanley Bryant in 2015 & now Ucambre Williams. Not saying Williams will become another Stanley Bryant but what's the point of paying their qb big bucks & they don't have anyone watching his backside. It makes no sense as left tackle (for a right handed qb) is usually the anchor position on the OL.
  19. Dressler when he played was okay but not great. He also missed more game with injuries than he played. Of course, we had LaPo running that stupid fly sweep with him & he got punished. What's his speed after the achilles injury?
  20. Things have been quiet this weekend from the Bombers with no new signings. I thought we'd be wrapping up signing one or two more core veterans. But nothing....
  21. Guys on defense of every team who are stars must be saying to themselves, "What the hell??" A dumbass receiver like Williams gets 260,000 while they play for half.
