  1. The more I think about The Pick to win the Grey Cup, the more in awe I become. When you watch that play, the intelligence, athleticism & timing of that play with Deatrick Nichols deflecting the ball, Winston Rose having the presence of mind tto scoop the ball to Linebacker Kyies Wilson who cradled that ball like a newborn baby was probably a one in 10,000 play kinda thing. In all my years watching football going back to 1965 & maybe even a bit before, I have never seen anything like that. It was the greatest play I have ever seen. That was our defense working together just like they have all year to win a championship at the most critical time. It wasn't one player making an exceptional play. It was 3 with the help of the other 9. The Bombers Mike Gray interception on the goal line in the 1988 Grey Cup, Joe Namath guaranteeing a New York Jets win in over the 3 TD favourite Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. The Immaculate Reception by the Steeler's Franco Harris against the Oakland Raiders in the 1972 AFC Championship Game, Houston Oiler's RB Earl Campbell's exceptional run down the sidelines in 1978 on ABC MNF, Marcus Allen's reverse pivot for a 74 yard TD run in Super Bowl XVIII. Hamilton Ti Cats Tony Champions outstretched Monster Catch for a TD in the 1989 Grey Cup (considered the greatest play in GC history), Well, move over Tony & everybody else as The Pick is now Number One as I see it.
  2. Are you surprised? Outside of televising games TSN spends little time promoting the CFL. But I'm sure 10-15% of those top plays were made by the Leafs. Oh look, another UNBELIEVABLY BEAUTIFUL tip in goal by Matthews. As far as what you believe, you're free to think whatever you want. I never even looked at the list.
  3. Older players like Harris always consider retirement at this time of year. I think it's a normal reaction as the committment to play is huge. If he's talking like this in February then he's serious.
  4. Sean Salisbury & James Murphy put on a show in the first half of that game.
  5. Wow, one of the greatest most athletic CLUTCH plays that won us a Grey Cup in OT & it isn't Number 1??? I don't know what game you were watching or what rules you use to define great plays. I'm not going to research the Top 10 All Time Bomber Greatest Grey Cup plays as that would take too long. I'll give you My Top 3... 1. THE PICK in Overtime: 2021 2, The Deflection & Interception on the Goal Line (All Mike Gray): 1988 3. Ken Ploen's Winning Run For A Touchdown in OT: 1961
  6. Three years between plays. What could possibly go wrong? Lol. Not a fan. We have to worry about our league & fans. Not if a player wants an NFL tryout. We have to get the CFL back on its feet.
  7. Defensive backs are taught to knock the ball away with the opposite hand. That way, if the catch is made they have a better chance to make the tackle or slow down the receiver until help arrives.
  8. Just like Gravity.
  9. Labatte hasn't played since 2019. In his mid 30's. He's done.
  10. Last time the Riders hosted the Grey Cup they had a GM who used napkins to make notes. They loaded up their team & won in 2013. Then spent 3 seasons in the cellar & have never really come close to equalizing that success of that GC year. Let them overspend again & become cellar dwellers again.
  11. Yeah, agree. That play was absolutely stunning. At the time, I was just so happy we intercepted the ball & won the game. Now, the full gravity of just how great that play is sinking in. They promoted Steinhauer to keep him around. Giving him more responsibility won't make him a better head coach. But such is the CFL today with that damned admin & coaches cap.
  12. I remember sitting there in the 4th quarter when we were down by 12 & being unbelievably calm. I remember thinking we can come back but it's going to be hard. I remember thinking if we lose the game I'm still extremely proud of the Boys in Blue & Gold. They didn't disappoint as they found a way to win. It was like this was Destiny's Team. That it was supposed to happen that way. That win was so satisfying. That last play for the interception was one for the ages & may have been the greatest play in Bomber history. It may have been? Let me correct myself. It was the greatest play in Bomber history!!
  13. Ah, memories are made of this. I almost bought that Cordoba that Ricardo Montalban was pitching for Chrysler in that commercial. It was a very nice car. Much more stylish than it's predecessor. However, I bought a Mercury Cougar XR7 just like this one. Same colour & wheels as the one pictured above. I dithered for an entire weekend trying to decide keeping 2 salesmen wondering WTH I was doing. It was my first new car so it was a big decision. My first new job after graduating university. I was never in debt before so the decision for me at age 25 was rather scary. My dad kept telling me I was crazy to buy brand new & that I should look at saving my money & buy a used car but I wanted a new car. Little did I realize the house, wife & kids were still to come. It was a great car & I never regretted my decision.
  14. Merry Christmas, Rich.
  15. The Bombers won their 4th Grey Cup in 1958. What was cookin' in 58??
  16. Tough couple of days but iyou powered thru!!
  17. Happy Festivus, everyone. I got a lot of problems with you guys. Now you're gonna hear about it!!
  18. Ted Goveia & Danny McManus signed new deals today. Personnel wise, we'll be well taken care of again this off season. Let's get some major Bomber free agents signings done!!
  19. My point to you is, why write a sentence when a paragraph will do?
  20. If you're going to be Jimmy Olsen cub reporter then you need to verify your sources & provide quotes to back up your story.
  21. The question that has to be asked is how the Bob Irving retirement will affect Auston Matthews once the season resumes? Will the news of Bob leaving also affect the rest of their roster. Tune into TSN & Sportsnet as they discuss the matter.
  22. They'll probably release him. He'll have missed a third of the season.
