  1. The difference between the CFL & NFL. Some guys get it right away. Some guys don't. In fairness to Vince Ferragamo, I read that he & his wife moved their family to Montreal. They tried to be a part of the community where they lived in the Montreal area. They even took French lessons to try to fit in. I never heard one story about him being an asshat to the media or fans. He was offerred a lot of $$$ to play for the Als & why wouldn't he take it? In a lot of ways it's too bad it didn't work out for Ferragamo.
  2. Sure he would have as most if not all career coaches think they have what it takes to turn things around doing it their way.
  3. It's a sore point with players & they'll never agree to go back to longer term contracts without the bonus money situation taken care of.
  4. As in 2013. That was a horrible team. May have been the all time worst. No one wanted to come here.
  5. It means whoever says that doesn't know what they're talking about but they sure sound impressive saying it.
  6. Yeah, once you win back to back champiuonships other teams want your players, coaches & potential GM's. Best wishes if he's hired.
  7. All kinds of players came up here from the 1950's to the early 80's. NFL stars like Bud Grant, D i c k Huffman, Neil Armstrong & Buddy Tinsley of the Bombers. Or college players like Ken Ploen, Jim Van Pelt, D i c k Shatto, Joe Theismann, Leo Lewis, Don Luzzi, Tom Brown, Joe Kapp, Jackie Parker, Jim Corrigal, Tim Anderson, Vic Washington, John Helton, Jim Stillwagon, Johnny Rodgers & a lot more. Even as late as 1980, the Als signed the top NFL draft pick of the Cleveland Browns by the name of MLB Tom Cousineau. These guys were all studs & legit NFL players & they all played up here. Lest I forget the Als also signed RB David Overstreet, WR Billy "White Shoes" Johnson, Rec Fred Biletnikoff, DL Keith Gary & WR James Scott who caught 81 passes for over 1,400 yards & 6 TD's in 1981 but returned to the Chicago Bears a year later.
  8. Nobody runs a 2 back offense anymore. I have no idea what Nikota Kalinec did as a fullback to be a CFLPA All Star. To reflect the modern game, have another slot, no FB, just one RB & one more ST player selection. Not just returner, kicker & punter. The other STP would reflect a cover guy like Mike Miller who should be an all star.
  9. Both sides have to do what's best for the league. It's time for egos to be put aside & make changes that benefit everyone.
  10. We already have three times as many as they do.
  11. The league has to stop releasing players days before a signing bonus is due. GMs make a committment then live up to it. At the same time if a player pulls a Darian Durant he can't keep the signing bonus. It must be returned in full by a specified date. The CFL can't afford guaranteed contracts so a solution has to be found about compensation after a player is cut. Especially after the 9th game & beyond of the season.
  12. I think Joel Quenneville's career as a coach is over after what transpired in Chicago. Plus, there's no way Chipman hires him with the connection he has with Chevy when they were both with the Blackhawks.
  13. Yeah, Matt Dunigan. Two Hall of Famers to be. With more coming in the years ahead. Damon Allen & Tracy Ham.
  14. You know, you may be right... I just rechecked the Esks roster & Moon is there. Good one, KBF. Pete Katella took over as HC from cCmpbell in 1983 but was fired mid season. IIRC, there were issues with Katella & some of the veterans & the way he treated them. A lot of players weren't happy. He was replaced by Jackie Parker.
  15. He'll be back iof he wants to keep playing. There is a possibility he retires. Yeah, no doubt Strev is a different kind of players. The way he played was guns a blazing on every play. He never lacked confidence. That carried him a long way. He was a leader on the field & in the locker room.
  16. I'm wrong as usual? Don't flatter yourself. And here I was trying to be polite... Anyway you just...
  17. We also have CFL 2.0. We're lucky to have a German player who is developing into a very good DL in Thiadric Hanssen. Not many teams can say that as they used that position to bring in kickers & punters to circumvent losing a Canadian at the very least on special teams as a tackler or blocker. I think that rule will be with us until Randy Ambrosie is gone which isn't soon enough. Then why is your BP rising?? We just won back to back Grey Cups. Just relax. It's all good.
  18. Sure, I doubt Bennett threw much more in comparison.
  19. I really think you need to rethink your post. Not carrying a qb on the roster means he gets PR money as he doesn't dress. This wasn't a CFLPA initiative. Why would they be in favour of cutting a qb position? Randy Ambrosie in conjunction with the BOG's brought in cuts to a third qb as well as coaches, scouting & admin cap. All have hurt the CFL. It's not 3 downs that has hurt the CFL, it's cutting salaries & positions in the wrong places. And at every other position too, right?
  20. McGuire may have beaten out Brian Bennett as a rookie but let's face it, he's no upgrade from Brian Bennett. To me, he's just another Brian Bennett.
  21. He was given it in 2022. There was no competition at the #2 spot. You keep Legghio. And you keep Castillo. One punts. The other kicks.
  22. Edmonton changed the East-West thing & the way we cheer in the Grey Cups. Five straight wins & the Bombers being knocked out by that team at least twice in the West Final started the hatred. It was no longer an East vs West thing anymore. It was anyone but Edmonton. That's carried over until now. I was at the 1986 Grey Cup cheering wildly for Hamilton who won. I had Esks fans asking why we weren't cheering for a Western team. I yelled back to one Edmonton fan, "You're kidding, right??" They couldn't understand the hatred. Hugh Campbell & Warren Moon had left for Houston in the 1983 off season so they weren't the same te.... Nah! It felt good!!! Lol.
  23. I just said he shouldn't just be given the #2 QB position again. He needs to EARN it. Which also means that he'll be brought back.
