Most of them won't be back next season.

They have to bring back the third qb on the roster. Teams can then choose to keep developing young qbs &/or have a veteran backup.

3 stars plus scape goat 2nd last pre season edition

I'm beginning to think that after this season it may be time to move on from Adams. There was another play in the game he was thrown to that was incomplete. He looked like he made little effort to catch the ball & he looked like he wasn't interested. Until that TD catch he was playing like his head was in the clouds. -
No way. I'll be cheering for the Stamps just cuz I hate the Riders so much. The tortured wails & angst will be so great if they lose in the WDSF it'll be so well worth it. Any day is agreat day when the Riders lose. Then we kickshit the Stamps & Bo Levi.

It sure was all about Montreal today on TSN wasn't it? They talked up Eugene Lewis & Harris as well. John Lu never talked about the Bombers at all.

No, that's your opinion & that's alright as I respect it. I think Mark Stephen is a good football broadcaster but that's me. They're homers absolutely. Bob is a different breed of cat. An old school broadcaster doing the same job for nearly half a century. He does stay neutral as much as he can when he does the games. -

Really? I thought he was pretty good. Surprised you said that. I never said he was equal or better than Irving just that he does a good job calling the plays. -
I think it's a case of worrying we'll lose our momentum. I think we have to play our starters next week including Zach. We can only protect Collaros so much. He could get hurt first series in the WDF (heaven forbid). That's football. It's a collision sport. Injuries happen.

As Jim Barker said other than Bryant & Neufeld he had all the starters playing. Yeah, they are 2 of best OL on the team but their replacements did a good job. I didn't think the OL played that badly. McGuire had time to throw. He was hurried a number of times but he wasn't harassed or sacked a lot. He made really bad decision. He underthrew & overthrew open receivers., He missed targets he should have had. Now, it was his first start so I'm not writing him off. I remember Dieter Brock's first start as a Bomber in Edmonton back in 1974 after Don Jonas was traded to Hamilton. It was a very similar game with a similar outcome & look what kind of a qb Brock became. McGuire HAS to be better. A lot better.

Johnny Freaking Manziel??? I read that from Doublezero & laughed.

That 4th quarter was a nightmare. Credit to the defense for not giving up more points. I'm of the opinion they play Collaros in Calgary. He can't go 4 weeks without playing as that isn't a great plan. If McGuire had shown more I'd have said he should play a half or more next week. I think we have no chance with him playing instead of Collaros. I don't want to see us going into the Western Final on a 2 game losing street. However, I also don't want to see Collaros injured so it's a real balancing act. A tough decision for O'Shea. I expect the Bomber wagons with our HC leading the way to circle around McGuire to protect him from criticism. To play Zach or not will be a topic for fans & media this coming week. Shaq Cooper needs an apple & a road map outta town. That was a dreadful performance from him. He cost us 8 points.

Due to many substitutions in the game on the Bomber side I don't expect us to win. I just hope it isn't a blow out loss. Like Toronto, historically we don't play well in Montreal.

Lots of prep time to do a game. Hours of research & study. That can be wearing. Mark Stephen in calgary is another guy in the Bob Irving mould. He's been calling Stamps games now for over 30 years & he's very good. -
Yeah, it is sad.

Bob quoted health & family reasons. He says he no longer has fun doing the games nor the energy & he knew it was time to retire. -
My Dad & I both loved that tree but they bought our house & were free to do what they want. This was 1996.

I think he was going thru a rough period in his life. Under lots of pressure as the Bomber HC made it worse & he snapped. I think we need to walk in another man's shoes before we judge others & show a little compassion. -
Yes, as carrying a gun in public is just asking for trouble. As we see in what Kyle Rittenham did. I haven't paid much attention to the trial but I also believe he'll get off. Bringing a gun to a riot & people died? There should be no surpise that happened.

Kelly had that legendary post game interview with Bob & Mitch Zalnasky where he was downright nasty to them both after a loss in Montreal. That was the beginning of the end for Mike Kelly. If a coach is angry at Bob Irving then it's time to go as Bob will find positives even in a Bomber loss. Then the rudeness to callers Kelly would show on The Coach's Show to the point they stopped having callers talking to him. Yeah, most questions from fans are stupid but as the face of the team Kelly never showed any decorum & spit venom whenever he could. He sure wore out his welcome in just one season. -
I'll never forget about 16 years ago, my son & I were driving back to Calgary from Portland & we stopped for gas in C'ouer D'Alene, Idaho for gas & munchies. We went inside to pay for all of it with my then 15 year old son. There was a guy in his 20's with a holstered gun on his waist. Idaho is a gun carry State. He was just walking around the store with a smirk letting us all know he was locked & loaded. Almost like he was daring someone to start something with him. I was standing directly behind him at the cashier. The one problem with an attitude like that is if he wants trouble he'll find trouble. He'll meet someone who'll have no hesitation to use his weapon against him first.

In Riverview we used to have this big oak tree at the end of the property close to the backlane. My Dad told me there were three or 4 young oak trees growing together before he sodded the back yard in 1950 after my parents bought our house brand new. He kept one & it grew up to be this beautiful tree just perfect in every way symetrically. My Dad sold our house in 1995. First thing the new owners did was cut that tree down. I was sad when I saw it had been removed as it was still growing & healthy.

Carol McGibney was his grand daughter, I believe. She lived with them & went to Churchill High School but was at least 2-3 years behind me. I think his first name was Doug. He was nearly or was a senior when I was a teenager in the early 70's so I always called him Mister out of respect. He was a great guy. I'd like to talk to you more so please PM me.
