  1. In the nearly 20 years I had Bomber season tickets that was the only game I missed. I was in a wedding party & the rehearsal was that night. Listening to the thunder & pounding rain on the roof of the church which was deafening, then seeing the lake on the West sidelines & the river of water pouring out of the East upper deck like a waterfall on the local tv sports made me glad I wasn't there. Still, I'm sure the hardy fans at the game enjoyed themselves.
  2. Yep, I was one of those fans that wanted Hajrullahu cut & he was replaced by Justin Medlock. I'll give Lirim a lot of credit. That last Bomber game hje played & the negative reaction by fans & media afterward might have destroyed his career. But Lirim became mentally strong & endured. I think that bad experience helped him develop into a very good kicker. He learned from it & is now as mentally tough a kicker as anyone out there. He strongly believes in himself as no one else will. Just like Medlock, Lirim can put the misses behind him & just concentrate on making the next kick.
  3. Don't even remember what I said. Some kinda glitch.
  4. Nobody knew who Tony Esposito was when he played for the Canadiens. They'll be fine.
  5. They'd be on the field with all the 2 & outs we'd have & eventually be gassed. Yeah, I agree they are a great defense but time of possession & field position wins games. Collaros at qb is critical. Too bad the CFL doesn't have a Comeback Player Of The Year award.
  6. To me, Collaros is the CFL MOP. we wouldn't be 5-1 & the best team in the CFL if he wasn't there. He is The Man who makes things happen on offense. Like Jack Jacobs, Ken Ploen, Don Jonas, Dieter Brock, Tom Clements & Khari Jones before him.
  7. Except here in Alberta. .
  8. Great teams find great ways to win. No different with Winnipeg in 1962. If it wasn't for a major upset in the playoffs in 1960 by Edmonton, the Bombers would have probably won 5 Grey Cups in a row. I've read the 1960 Bomber team was the best of that championship era.
  9. The 1962 Western Final Game 3 at McMahon Stadium. Best of 3 series tied at 1 game a piece. On the last play of the game & trailing 7-6 the Bombers attempted a 17 yard FG by Gerry James. The attempt was partially blocked & fbounced into the end zone. calgary returner Harvey Wylie elected to kick the ball out of the end zone & it was blocked by Farrell Funston who fell on it for the touchdown & a 12-6 win. The LAST PLAY of the game!!!
  10. Well, then they might as well play him.
  11. Als will use it as a rallying cry. "Let's win for Coach!!!" They'll be fine. Truth hurts. He's trying to motivate his team. To have them prove him wrong.
  12. One thing about Justin Medlock. Yeah, he had a few stinkers with us missing makeable FG's. But he never dwelled on it. He had the mental toughness to throw the misses aside & just completely focus on the next kick. He knew he'd make it. His sense of self belief was strong.
  13. Nerves. He needs to find a way to calm himself before he kicks & focus on the task at hand. A player can be the most talented on the field at his position but if he worried about missing assignments or kicks then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. If you think you might miss you will. He needs to talk to kickers like Sean Whyte & Lewis Ward to get advice. Or the Bombers need to bring in a sports psychologist to work with him.
  14. For me, one of the biggest plays I remember was the third game of the 1965 Western Final in Calgary. Ploen threw a 109 yard TD pass to Flanker Ken Nielsen. The TD won the series for the Bombers & they went to the Grey Cup that year but didn't win. What a ballsy play from a Head Coach who was known as a conservative coach & not a risk taker. Which served Bud Grant well in his coaching career in Winnipeg.
  15. The Greats want the ball in their hands or on defense be in position to make the big play to win. All Banks wants is adulation & not do the work.
  16. Roberts & Tom Clements are 2 players long overdue to be in the Bombers ROH.
  17. In actually think LaPo reminds me of Jacques Chapdeline. They were both receivers so they saw the field differently or make different calls than a qb would. Whereas guys like Huff, Dickenson, Jones & Buck played qb at the CFL level & understand what qbs see. A slotback like Chapdelaine & LaPo don't understand that. I think Qbs make better OC's.
  18. So is Josh Bell. Trying to establish himself as a professional coach as a career & he pulls this stunt?? Crap like this will follow him wherever he goes. He & Younger put their selfish beliefs (not getting vaxxed) ahead of their players. Just total BS.
  19. Right ON!!
  20. Agree but Buck likes to push the ball down the field & not sit on a lead bigger than 10 points.
  21. Another cartoon.
  22. So, they were on the PR? They faced no pressure kicks not playing. Your arguments aren't making sense. At some time, a PR player at any position has to play his first game & then has to face the music. Produce or be cut.
  23. Before I moved to Calgary in 1990 I was a Bomber STH. in 1987, there was a guy sitting behind me who kept blowing his damned plastic horn in my ear as he was behind me one row up. During the game, I asked him time & time again to not blow in my ear. Just point it to the sky. Politely at first & then becoming more angrier as the game went on. It fricking hurt. I turned around again & yelled at him "To ******* STOP!!" He laughed at me & made some snide remark so I slapped the horn out of his hand. I thought he & his 2 friends might jump me but instead the guy stopped laughing & they all got quiet. He didn't blow his horn again but it was late in the game. I had my friend with me so I didn't view him or his 2 buddies as any kind of threat. They were just 3 weenies. I hate horns. I think horns should be banned. Especially with Covid. I think so. Blow responsibly.
