  1. It's not rare in the CFL. Before specialists, regular players did the punting & kicking. Don Jonas was our FG kicker. Gene Lakusiak kicked for us ||& was a defensive back. Ed Ulmer was a safety & our punter. Imagine the pressure playing a regular position & being winded, dinged up or out of breath & asked to kick or punt? Seems to me, they would be under even more pressure. Bernie Ruoff's very first kick in 1975 (he was a specialist) against the Stamps was a 58 yard FG. He never let pressure get to him. The league has had many kickers who as rookies stepped in & played like veteran kickers. Sean Whyte in Edmonton. Lewis Ward in Ottawa. Rene Paredes in Calgary. Lui Passaglia in BC. Mike Vanderjagt in Toronto. Damon Duvall in Montreal. Even as rookies, they were able to control their emotions & stay even keeled when they kicked. That's the key. To remain calm. Dont be nervous & stay focused. The mental part of the game is maybe more important than the physical part. Hopefully. Liegghio will get a handle on things... fast.
  2. So, how long do we go before we make a change at kicker? Eventually those misses will cost us.
  3. 1. Lawler. Best receiver in the CFL. 2. Nic Demski. dangerous with the football whenever he touches it. 3. Zach Collaros. I haven't had this much fun watching a Bomber QB since Matt Dunigan & before that, Tom Clements. HH: Our two D Ends. Like Freddie Mercury & David Bowie used to sing, "Under Pressure", Fajardo will be dreaming about our Front Seven in his sleep. Our DL beat the snot out of Fajardo both games & finally took him out of the game. Even though, I don't like seeing Fajardo get hurt, our defense still imposed it's will on the Riders offense. It was great to see. Even bringing Powell into the game as a runner to slow down the rush didn't help.
  4. He could have had a broken neck. I don't blame him for being concerned. Looks like the Lions are going to run away with this game.
  5. I can't imagine where we'd be if Nichols was still our qb. Maybe 0-6. Collaros... Checkdowns? What checkdowns?? I love it. That injury is on Dom Davis. He put his receiver Davis in a horrible spot.
  6. The Stamps got to Harris & sacked him 5 times &..... he did what he always does... he wilted.
  7. That look the Elks have tonight is just ugly.
  8. If this keeps up we'll have given up something like 185 points in 14 games.
  9. Yeah, I think we all breathed a sigh of relief when the ruling on the field was upheld. Kinda like this...
  10. There was a little push & I thought the incomplete pass would be overturned.
  11. We kicked the **** out of Fajardo. That's the main storyline of this series. Besides the Bombers sweeping the series. That receiver for the Riders Kian Schaffer-Baker was outstanding & he's a rook. Forget Jorden, Evans, Daniels, Ellingson, Burnham, Rodgers, Walker.... Kenny Lawler is the best receiver in the CFL.
  12. Did you know that the Bombers wanted to sign Jim Van Pelt & bring him back for the 1962 season? He was a VIP guest of the Bombers for the 1961 Grey Cup & the team wined & dined him. He left the Bombers after the 1959 season as he was drafted & spent 2 years in the US Air Force. Van Pelt decided that he wanted to remain retired. He lived in Chicago & got involved in private business there.
  13. Moon could run & he was deadly accurate. He played as well in the CFL as he did in the NFL. Immensely talented But in their primes, I'd still take Flutie.
  14. So, I had picked William Stanbeck for this week but I didn't know the Als have the buy so I'd like to change my pick to Andrew Harris.
  15. Defensive Linemen & Linebackers were too tired to tackle him.
  16. BLM took a pay cut with the pandemic. I'm not sure Reilly did. I never heard that he did anyway but he might have. I know he bitched about not being paid when the CFL season was cancelled. He drove DC's nuts. He could scramble under pressure & improvise. Probably the best CFL QB that could ever do that.
  17. No, Flutie just played 8 "unimportant & forgettable" CFL seasons. Here are all of his CFL stats. He attempted 4854 passes & completed 2,975 for 41,355 yards. He threw 270 TD passes & had 155 interceptions with a QB Rating of 82.6. He had 2 seasons where he threw for over 6,000 yards & 4 seasons of over 5,000 yards. He had 3 seasons where he threw 44, 47 & 48 TD passes as well as 2 seasons with 32 & 38 TD passes. He rushed the ball 704 times for 8,816 yards & scored 88 touchdowns with an average gain of 6.6 yards. Had he stayed in the CFL & not returned to the NFL, he probaly would have become the CFL's All Time leading passer at the time. As far as CFL awards go, he was the CFL's MOP in 1991, 92, 93, 94, 96 & 97. He was the Grey Cup's Most Valuable Player in 1992, 96 & 97. He was a CFL West Division All Star in 1991, 92, 93, 94 & a CFL East Division All Star in 1996 & 97. He was All CFL in 1991, 92, 93, 94, 96 & 97. He was named a CFLPA All Star in 1997. You're young so I'll cut you some slack but our league had some some great players before 2010.
  18. What shitty tackling by the Argos.
  19. No kidding. Then there was Warren Moon.
  20. I saw him grab his left foot area. Probably a high ankle sprain. He hasn't left the bench so I don't believe the medical staff think there is a break.
  21. Looks like Dane Evans suffered some kind of foot or ankle injury vs the Argos. He's out & Watford is in. Evans looks to be in a lot of pain on the sidelines.
  22. The problem for Mike Kerrigan that day was Less Browne played the other cornerback position.
  23. Reilly is the best long ball passer I've ever seen play in the CFL but he had some GREAT receivers in Edmonton for him to do that like Zylstra, Walker & Ellingson. He doesn't have the same level of receivers in BC although they're good. Mitchell spreads the ball around to his receivers. That's his style. He used to be an extremely accurate passer. He doesn't throw the long ball as well as Reilly but he can push it deep & he does. He too, benefitted from (perhaps) the best receiving corps in the CFL, as well. I really can't say which qb I'd take in their primes as they both were very good.
  24. Anyone old enough to remember the brilliant idea the CBC had to mic up the penalty box on HNIC back in the mid 70's & an upset Bobby Clarke swore a blue streak on live TV knowing he was on camera? Apparently there were thousands of complaints across Canada after that happened. They only mic'd the penalty box that one time & never again. Sorry but I know what I'll be watching & it won't be tennis.
  25. Gonna stay with William Stanback.
