  1. Biden to Trudeau: Our countries are great friends. We love you. Trudeau to Biden: Yes we are. And we love you too. Biden to Trudeau: Well, thank you. Our bilateral relations are important to both countries. You are the first leader I've had a bi lateral meeting with. As it should be. It's important our two countries are on the same page when it comes to the environment, vaccines & jobs. Trudeau to Biden: Thank you, Mr. President. I have a few questions... Biden to Trudeau: OK, shoot... Well, we need to get our guns under control down here so poor choice of words. Maybe I should have said go ahead. Trudeau to Biden: We have our concerns about Keystone XL. It would provide North America with oil security & we'd like to get our product to market. Biden to Trudeau: Nope, that file is closed. Ain't happening. So don't ask. I have a lot of support from the Progressive Environmentalists in the Democratic Party. I had to cancel that pipeline in order to shut them up about their Green New Deal or whatever it's called. Trudeau to Biden. Any chance that it could be revived at some point? Biden to Trudeau: NO!! Don't ask!! Trudeau to Biden: Well, truth be known.... Albertans are whiners & I'm glad it's cancelled. I just have to pretend I care. (Trudeau & Biden share a hearty laugh)... Biden to Trudeau: Do you believe the Alberta State Governor wants to sue me??? What's his name?? Kennedy or something?? Trudeau to Biden: It's Kenney. Jason Kenney. We have Premiers & not Governors. Provinces not States. Kenney is a big windbag. Useless POS, actually. Talks a big game but does nothing. What about vaccines from your Pfizer plant? Our supplies are low & we're hoping you could help us out. Biden to Trudeau: No, Canada gets nothing until every American who wants it is vaccinated. You Canadians screwed up 20 years ago when you allowed pharmaceutical manufacturing to be done offshore. Now, deal with it. Talk to me in January 2022. Maybe I can spare a few thousand doses then. Trudeau to Biden: We really need the help. Lack of vaccines is killing me politically. Biden to Trudeau: Oh well, too bad, so sad.... Trudeau to Biden: The Buy American plan you have will hurt manufacturers in Eastern Canada with Ontario the most. Especially Canadian companies that bid directly on US government contracts. That is my base. I can't afford that they lose jobs over this. Can we discuss your plans regarding Buy American?? Biden to Trudeau: Look, what a bunch of malarkey!! I ran on a platform of the Buy American Plan. I can't & won't backtrack now. I promised more jobs for Americans. Not Canadians. Jobs north of the border are your problem. I'm gonna expand the Buy American Plan but I have no real details to share with you at this time. Trudeau to Biden: But.... but... but... may I say Mr President that..... Biden to Trudeau: Oh my, Just look at the time. I really must be going. I have such a busy day ahead. I must say that it is so good that we can improve relations with our Canadian friends north of the border after 4 years of that orange haired fatass in the White House. Remember YOU ARE OUR FRIENDS!! OUR BESTIES!!! One thing, since you are so far behind vaccinating your fellow Canadians we will keep the border closed until it's safe for Canadians to travel into America. I know you understand. Glad we got everything straightened out. Trudeau to Biden: Mr. President... WAIT!!! Biden to Trudeau: BYEEEEEEEEE!!! (Click)!
  2. Unbelievable.
  3. That's the problem. There's not a lot of trust between fans & the league with the Commissioner in the forefront of it all. We just feel that whatever he says just isn't the truth. It's all for show. He disappears when news is bad & reappears when he can give us good news. And then we're not sure it really is....
  4. The CFL needs major sponsorship money. Investment money. Anything to raise revenues. Dr Ho's massage commercials won't cut it.
  5. Single-game sports betting could 'change the financial landscape' of the CFL: Suitor - 3DownNation
  6. Some doorknobs say Utah!!!!!
  7. PPV would be an abysmal failure. We don't have the population here to support it. We don't have one city the size of Chicago, New York or Los Angeles. There isn't enough revenue. Plus as people have pointed out, TSN is the rightsholder. They'd be giving the games away for free if they allowed PPV. Just not any kind of option. Now, this single team betting bill that passed in the H of C earlier this week could mean huge revenue streams for the CFL. I guess unlike Pro Line you can bet just on Bomber games for example. This could open up $$$ for each CFL team & create a following.
  8. If a tree falls in a forest will anybody hear?
  9. I agree which is why teams like the Argos & Als driving up FA salaries during a pandemic makes no sense. Charleston Hughes can go pound sand as far as I'm concerned. He never should have got a raise. Take a pay cut like other players did to keep expenses in line, but nope. Spending should have been taken out of the hands of irresponsible teams like the Argos. Put salaries & expenses in a pool & let each team draw equally out of it. They can spend any way they want but each team must form a complete team with a certain number of players by season beginning. That's what they should have done but didn't. Brandon Banks said yesterday that he'll retire or go play somewhere else if no season so the story just doesn't have legs here but elsewhere.
  10. Doesn't matter as we won.
  11. People are upset that Randy seems to have no accountability or the guts to show his face to give bad news. Just when there's good news do we see his pearly whites & inflated promises. You want to defend the man for doing nothing publicly that is your right. Just as it's mine & others right here to criticize him if we think he isn't doing a good job. With a season already lost, a botched attempt at getting federal funding & stringing us along until August last year before pulling the plug on the season, he has every right to be criticized. He is, after all the supposed face of the league. Randy by now, should have rebutted that story, if untrue but he didn't which is par for the course. Maybe he didn't want to venture out into the Polar Vortex. Who knows? A Go Fund Me page? Seriously. It's not up to me or any fan to save the league. It's up to the BOG's & Ambrosie himself to do that so please stop with the cute ideas while you're still ahead.
  12. Yes, it's dying. Look around you & see the landscape. How many reporters now cover the Bombers as compared to 30 years ago? Fifty years ago? How is local coverage of sports like the Blue Bombers other than the Jets stack up to that time period back then? Even a decade ago? In Calgary, we now have one beat writer who covers the Stamps for 2 daily newspapers. The Herald & Sun. There isn't even competition between papers anymore as the same stories appear in the Herald & Sun. I remember a time (circa 1969) when both the Free Press & Tribune had marquis coverage of the Bombers with outstanding writers like Don Blanchard of the Freep & Jack Matheson of the Trib covering the team. You'd want to read both papers to see what they wrote. Especially after a bad loss or when some big story on the team broke. They were MUST READS! CKY radio had Tom McCullough. CJAY TV had Jack Wells & Stew MacPherson covering the Bombers. CJOB had Ken Nicholson. CBC had Bob Picken, Don Wittman & Ernie Nairn on both radio & television. CKRC had a sports guy covering the team but I don't remember who he was. Then you had columnists in both dailies like Hal Sigurdson, Ed Deardon, Reyn Davis, Elman Guttormson with the Free Press & John Robertson with the Tribune who covered the Bombers as well. There were others but I honestly can't remember their names especially with the Tribune. Let's just say that at every Bomber game a minimum of 3 or 4 sportswriters each from both papers covered the team in the 60's & 70's along with sportscasters from Winnipeg radio & tv stations. You had national sportswriters like Jim Coleman, Jim Proudfoot & Scott Young covering the CFL as well as the NHL nationally, Sportscasts that used to be 11 minutes long in the evening on tv back then are 5 minutes now. Local Sports Departments for print media, radio & tv have been gutted. Local community sports barely gets mentioned. Rodgers, Bell & the Internet have all contributed to the death spiral of sports coverage locally in this country.
  13. I remember back in the 80's I had a NY Yankee button up jacket. I used to call it my "Reggie Jacket". Older fans here might get the reference. It was a Saturday afternoon in 1982 & the Jays were involved in a late season series with the Yankees. I wasn't wearing it for that reason. I had bought it in Seattle a couple of years earlier when my friend & I went down to catch a Mariners series with those Yankees & I wore it often. There was a bar besides the bank I had just walked out of across the street from St. Vital Centre. A drunk staggered out, saw my jacket, started cursing me out & saying I was a traitor to Canada, among other things. Like I should be cheering for Canada. But he actually wanted to fight me. I just looked at this tipsy asshat & laughed as he staggered away. That's when this **** started for me with the Jays & every year my love for baseball just diminished. Especially when the big players in telecommunications took over in the 90's.
  14. So, you think we're jumping all over Randy Ambrosie? That by ghosting everyone & potentially making false promises to play means it isn't justified? Lol. You need to buy another scarf.
  15. A story comes out that says the CFL may not play. Since we're the only league I know that didn't play in 2020 the track record is already there for not playing. Since we didn't, I think it's on the league to show they have some kind of contingency plan in place to actually play if stadiums are closed to the public. The Ghost of Randy Ambrosie is such a legend that the Ghost Adventures crew are out looking for him now. Glad you find the potential ruin of the league funny unlike the rest of us.
  16. Edit
  17. I'm sure he's not happy at all.
  18. Why is Sports radio dying? Well, say there are 3-4 time slots a day for local sports the same headlines are beat to death in every time slot unless there is breaking news of some kind in the sports world. In a one horse town like Calgary or Winnipeg where the CFL matters not but the NHL does just how many times can you flog to the listening audience in creative ways that the Flames or Jets lost/won the night before. How can a station continue to talk non stop hockey on July 17th or August 6th when the off season is in full swing & no one cares about the Flames? Yet they do. Add in Blue Jays baseball talk & it's enough that I turn the station to something else. Forcing Blue Jay games down our throat here in Calgary as they're owned by Rogers which also owns Rogers Sportsnet's The Fan 960 so that means to the Burghers in Toronto running Sportsnet feel that (naturally) every Calgarian wants to listen to Blue Jay games every day of the MLB season. Which is not true. Especially when they're not in playoff contention. I used to be a baseball fan but Rodgers Sportnet killed the game for me. I hate the Blue Jays. I hardly follow baseball anymore. I was a big Cincinnatti Reds & Baltimore Orioles fan back in the 70's. Always talking Maple Leafs hockey. Rodgers thinks that the love of the Leafs in Toronto carries across the country so Calgarians also love the Leafs & Jays as much as the Flames. Which we know is not true. But there's The Fan 960 talking Leafs hockey when not the Flames. Or Jays baseball. Sprinkle in a little NBA Raptors during their season along with the NFL & gone is local sports coverage. Talking HS, junior & university sports. Not having local athletes get a small whiff of coverage locally, That is all gone when the coverage here on The Fan 960 is Flames & NHL all day, baseball NFL football & Raptors followed by American sports talk radio after hours & on weekends unless there is a Flames game. CFL coverage is there but it's miniscule. I tuned out a decade ago. I couldn't stand The Fan 960's format. Too much of the same hockey talk from one time slot to another. Too much Toronto bullshit on local radio. We get enough of it in our news & political coverage in this country's media. So, I just said buh bye to sports radio. I think a lot of people across the country have as well. It wasn't the talent that turned me off but the content.
  19. I'm one of those voters who will NOT support the UCP in the next AB provincial election. I have no idea where my vote will go when the time comes.
  20. The vote will scatter. Some will go to the MOTR Alberta Party, others will go to the NDP & more far right ideological voters will look for the separatist option. Again, how much that goes to who is unknown. No doubt people are pissed off. The question is how much? I think enough to get the NDP elected. This is a government that lies, is not transparent at all, seems to be politically clueless & will continue to be driven by far right conservative ideology. I don't think they are able to adapt & change so I'm hoping their popularity continues to fall.
  21. People don't trust Kenney especially when it comes to the health file, education & the environment. They backed off of coal development last week after huge criticism of their coal development plans for the Eastern slopes of the Rockies. They reinstated the moratorium they had removed without public consultation last May on coal development that the PCs brought in to protect the slopes in 1976. They cancelled most but not all leases for development that have been approved since. Now they say that Albertans have spoken & they will have public consultation which is just a code word for going thru the motions & approving development anyways no matter the opposition. Nope, can't be trusted on everything & anything they do or say. Kenney' & the UCP popularity is in the high 20%. They are ideologically driven & even with the low numbers will continue their assault on Albertans. Their spring budget comes out in about a week. I expect higher taxes & cuts, cuts, cuts to the Big 3, Health, Education & Advanced Education such as colleges & universities. And it'll be done with glee & enthusiasm.
  22. That is one of my big problems with Ambrosie. He should keep fans & media apprised on a regular basis instead of ghosting us. He never comes out when news is bad. Only when news is good. He also knows about the 3DN story of no season (how could he not?) & hasn't come out to say it's wrong. That alone is very concerning. He hasn't talked about possible contingency plans which is crazy. Is it possible there aren't any even after losing a complete season? if so, how can that be?? Ambrosie just doesn't have the instincts to know what the right thing is to do. As in, when to put out little brushfires before they become big ones. He's become a very polarizing figure. Fans either like him or hate him which isn't good for the CFL trying to stay relevant with its now obviously shrinking fanbase. See my comments about that very thing.
  23. Do what you're doing now. Looks like so far so good on your part. Social distance. wear a mask & wash your hands often. I drive a school bus so I know how you feel. I have a face shield, wear a triple layered surgical mask & always carry hand sanitizer in my car, pocket & work bag on the bus. I haven't worn any of these so called cool masks with team or company logos on them, I'd rather feel more safe in a surgical mask than cool in a single layer mask. All we can do.
