2021 Grey Cup GDT - Bombers vs. Tiger-Cats
Yeah, Matt Dunigan. Two Hall of Famers to be. With more coming in the years ahead. Damon Allen & Tracy Ham.

2021 Grey Cup GDT - Bombers vs. Tiger-Cats
You know, you may be right... I just rechecked the Esks roster & Moon is there. Good one, KBF. Pete Katella took over as HC from cCmpbell in 1983 but was fired mid season. IIRC, there were issues with Katella & some of the veterans & the way he treated them. A lot of players weren't happy. He was replaced by Jackie Parker.

He'll be back iof he wants to keep playing. There is a possibility he retires. Yeah, no doubt Strev is a different kind of players. The way he played was guns a blazing on every play. He never lacked confidence. That carried him a long way. He was a leader on the field & in the locker room.

We also have CFL 2.0. We're lucky to have a German player who is developing into a very good DL in Thiadric Hanssen. Not many teams can say that as they used that position to bring in kickers & punters to circumvent losing a Canadian at the very least on special teams as a tackler or blocker. I think that rule will be with us until Randy Ambrosie is gone which isn't soon enough. Then why is your BP rising?? We just won back to back Grey Cups. Just relax. It's all good.

Sure, I doubt Bennett threw much more in comparison.

I really think you need to rethink your post. Not carrying a qb on the roster means he gets PR money as he doesn't dress. This wasn't a CFLPA initiative. Why would they be in favour of cutting a qb position? Randy Ambrosie in conjunction with the BOG's brought in cuts to a third qb as well as coaches, scouting & admin cap. All have hurt the CFL. It's not 3 downs that has hurt the CFL, it's cutting salaries & positions in the wrong places. And at every other position too, right?

McGuire may have beaten out Brian Bennett as a rookie but let's face it, he's no upgrade from Brian Bennett. To me, he's just another Brian Bennett.

He was given it in 2022. There was no competition at the #2 spot. You keep Legghio. And you keep Castillo. One punts. The other kicks.

2021 Grey Cup GDT - Bombers vs. Tiger-Cats
Edmonton changed the East-West thing & the way we cheer in the Grey Cups. Five straight wins & the Bombers being knocked out by that team at least twice in the West Final started the hatred. It was no longer an East vs West thing anymore. It was anyone but Edmonton. That's carried over until now. I was at the 1986 Grey Cup cheering wildly for Hamilton who won. I had Esks fans asking why we weren't cheering for a Western team. I yelled back to one Edmonton fan, "You're kidding, right??" They couldn't understand the hatred. Hugh Campbell & Warren Moon had left for Houston in the 1983 off season so they weren't the same te.... Nah! It felt good!!! Lol.

I just said he shouldn't just be given the #2 QB position again. He needs to EARN it. Which also means that he'll be brought back.

Congrats to the 11 Blue Bombers named to the CFL All Star Team!!

Bye Bob (Irving Retirement)
He does want to retire so I'm sure that's what he'll do. If anyone deserves to ride off into the sunset a winner, it's Bob Irving.

I agree. Another stupid Randy Ambrosie initiative to cut costs that affecting play as well as scoring. A QB driven league & we can't have competent backups or develop young third stringers.

2022 Off Season - Back 2 Back Champs Edition
I'm not against McGuire coming back. I just want competition at the #2 position. Whether that's signing another young qb or bringing in a veteran backup. He needs to be pushed because of competition in order to get better.

2021 Grey Cup GDT - Bombers vs. Tiger-Cats
Life & times were different back then. We supported the West while people in the Eastern Conference supported the East. It's not like that anymore. There really was a rivalry back then because two separate leagues merged in 1958 to form the CFL. Bragging rights were still important. The West was always considered the B league. Lancaster, Reed, & the Riders were classy so fans didn't hate them like fans hate the Riders now. So we cheered for Saskatchewan. Fans today would have a hard time getting their heads around that today.

2022 Off Season - Back 2 Back Champs Edition
Agree. The starting qbs in this league & the NFL all have to deal with personal & family issues. As well as distractions that are good & bad. You don't think Tom Brady had personal & family things going on during his career? MIke Reilly had to deal with the death of his Mother. Anthony Calvillo's wife had cancer & he played at a high level with a heavy heart. Even if Stanley Bryant had played & that entire OL was intact wouldn't have made a difference. Weather is part of the game. McGuire wasn't ready to play. I thought he'd go out there & light it up. Nope.

I have no problem with that but he was given the #2 spot this season & he needs to earn it. So, I'd like to see the Bombers sign another qb that he truly has to compete against. Other players have to earn their spots so should McGuire. Question: If Collaros had been injured in the West Final & McGuire came in & played the same way that he did in Montreal, would we be willing to cut him some slack had we lost? I doubt it. I expected a lot more from McGuire.

2021 Grey Cup GDT - Bombers vs. Tiger-Cats
Twenty seconds left in the game. Ottawa down 20-16. Saskatchewan was the heavy favourite. Clements was a second year pro qb while Lancaster was a 17 year veteran. Then busted coverage in the Roughrider secondary at the worst possible time. Gabriel wide freaking open. A 35 yard clutch throw & catch from Clements to Gabriel for the win 23-20. I remember just how big that play was. It was classic!!

I wonder if the Bombers will be looking to upgrade the #2 qb spot. I was disappointed in Sean McGuire. When he had his chance to show he could be the heir apparent to Zach it was an epic fail. He looked nervous & confused. A second year pro shouldn't be that way. I dunno. See my comments above.

He'll be playing elsewhere. It might be Hamilton if both Massoli & Evans leave.

Anyone ever see that interview Jim Rome had with LA Rams QB Jim Everett back in 1994 where Rome kept calling him "Chris" or "Chrissy" (referring to tennis star Chris Everett). This is what happened... Cody might snap like Chrissy did here. This interview made Jim Rome famous & he's now the highest paid sports announcer in America. Not the greatest audio quality...

Maier won't stay. He'll sign elsewhere. If he wants to back up Mitchell then he might as well sign here backing up Collaros. BLM should be the one to leave. If Wally was the GM & head coach, BLM wouldn't be back. Wally cut Allen Pitts after a thousand yard season so he could sign another slotback who was younger & cheaper. Wally was cutthroat.
