  1. Wow, this topic certainly is different. Okay, all time favourite... Has to be Dave Raimey. Least favourite was that cheap shot offensive lineman who played for us in the early 2000's who was run out off the league for continually trying to injure other players legs with dirty blind side or combo blocks. Forget his name. There's no place in the game for that.
  2. Yeah, it kinda changes one's perspective. They were the enemy when they played. Now, most of them are just trying to get by like the rest of us & living their lives like we do. They're just amazed that fans remember them. Especially the older these former players get. BTW, I don't object to this discussion. It's all in fun so go for it.
  3. You know, because I do a lot of CFL bios & put up a lot of pics on my facebook page, I'm friends with a lot of former players from every team. Some of whom I didn't like when they played. Some of them chat with me quite a bit. So this is one discussion I think I'll sit out.
  4. Guys like Charles Roberts & Willard Reaves would have been unhappy they didn't get the ball more.
  5. Banks did suffer a nasty injury in last year's Grey Cup so I don't blame him for that. But I do blame him for whining to his head coach that he was getting the ball too much & was tired. That is inexcusable. And so the question has to be asked. Did he quit on his teammates & not going all out when he injured his hip/leg? Players that go less than full speed are susceptible to injuries. I always equate it to 2 vehicles colliding. One is going 70 kph & the other 120 kph. The collision is still catastrophic but moreso to the slower vehicle. I find Banks to be an enigma. He wants the recognition. He wants the championships but he has shown in the past that he doesn't want to put in the hard work to get it. He falls apart if things don't go his way. The guy has all the talent in the world but still.
  6. Yes, I use hand sanitizer as soon as I get to my car. The problem is the contact points like door handles, seats, sun visor, keys, steering wheel & the gear selector as they are contaminated. Any of those touch points before my hands are sanitized. It's just impossible to know what is contaminated & what isn't.
  7. Thanks iHeart.
  8. Best pure precision route runner & as good a hands as I've seen as a receiver was Eskimo's George McGowan. Corners who were more athletic & faster had a hard time covering him. Caught the ball in a crowd or in a small window.
  9. Bye See ya. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Banks has also been offered a high school head coaching position as per his twitter account last week so he may not want to come back anyway.
  10. Just got a call from Alberta Health Services. I tested negative for the Covid 19 virus. Although I can now say that I do have a cold. Which tells me how easy it still is to pick up the virus as I have not gone out much the past 3 months & I carry hand sanitizer in my car. I also wash my hands as often as I can. The virus is invisible so we don't know where & when we touch it on an exposed surface.
  11. Yes, it should but it won't.
  12. We have to find ways to increase re venues in this country first. Grow the game here & not in another country. One may be taking some games off TSN & letting other networks bid for the contract. Get the Grey Cup on network tv like CBC, CTV & not just cable. That would be a start.
  13. That would mean that other players would have to play for $35,000. That is the problem. It really hurts the guys not making any real money.
  14. I'm a Conservative & Mackay does nothing for me. As an Albertan, I take exception to him saying that he would give veto power to BC & Quebec over pipeline construction. He's a sellout just like Scheer was. I'll never vote for Mackay after that. Neither will a lot of Albertans or people out west in Saskatchewan or the BC interior. As far as the other candidates go, they're social conservatives. Something I'm not. We had 3 years with Scheer which was a ******* disaster. How are they any different than he was? If the candidates religious beliefs mean that they want to reopen the abortion debate, not recognize LGBTQ rights or march in a Gay Pride parade then don't run for CPC leadership. Be a leader for every Canadian not just your right wing base. I don't think anyone who is a conservative is happy with the people running. The people who would have got conservatives excited all decided to sit this one out for some unbeknownst reason. I see 4 more years of Trudeau majority with these clowns running.
  15. Just a hunch but don't be surprised if the cap is shrunken to at least $4 million maybe less. Every player will have to take huge pay cuts. This was done in the early 90's when the SMS came into being. Players had to suck it up.
  16. One of the greatest plays of all time.
  17. You bet I did. I called them Monday morning & spoke to a loss prevention officer. Then in the afternoon when I got home from my Covid test I got a call from a senior manager expressing her regrets & apologizing for what happened. She said protocols in place were not followed & that action will be taken. She said they know who the clerk is. She asked if I could call her once I get the test results back & I said yes. I said I'd let her know. If I get sick I don't know if I can sue. I'm hoping my test will be negative. Meanwhile I've been told to self quarantine until we know for certain if I have Covid.
  18. I don't begrudge a player the chance to make as much as he can because all it takes to end a career is one injury. But when a player plays all 9 teams at the same time well screw him.
  19. I won't be saying much about Ambrosie anymore as people here know my thoughts. Unless he says & does something really dumb that is newsworthy. No point as it just becomes a broken record. Your second paragraph: Thanks!! 🙂
  20. Muamba would have been on a Grey Cup winner if he wasn't so greedy. I'm glad we have Bighill instead anyway. he's embraced the city. Got a job as a financial advisor & is building a new home. Good for home & thanks BC...
  21. Thanks, comments like yours make me feel good. I'm not treated as an old guy from some bygone & forgotten era. I was lucky to see a lot of the legends actually play. And I like to keep their memories alive as much as I can as they deserve that respect. Once again, thank you.
  22. Yeah that was telling. He had that sad Tim Burke look.
  23. I'm going for a Covid test this afternoon. This past Saturday it was my birthday. My son & daughter in law as well as her Dad came over for a BBQ. I decided last minute to go to the liquor store to get a bottle of whiskey & a bottle of rum. The cashier was coughing & sneezing & saying things like, " I should take a break" or "I should leave" as she coughed, hacked & sneezed constantly. She wasn't wearing a mask & once she scanned the liquor handed me the bottles in a plastic bag as soon as she finished coughing on her arm. I never should have taken them but I did. So, now 2 days later I have a slight headache, a bit of a runny nose & a metallic taste in my mouth... This morning I called Alberta Healthy Services & i'll be tested at a drive thru location. Meanwhile self isolating now until I find out if I have Covid. I'll just go back & forth from home to the testing today. Other than that stay home. To say I'm furious is an understatement. AHS told me that the liquor store contravened health rules by their employees not wearing masks. What the hell was this person even at work for????
  24. Thanks, appreciate that a lot but the toothless mob & dumbasses here were insulted.
