You just have to look at America's affinity with the Wild West & Civil war movies to understand why they like guns so much. Unlike Canada, the gun is part of their history through their War of Independence & Civil War right up to the taming of the West & then in the 1930's with the gangsters in Chicago & New York. The gun is then glorified with 2 World Wars, the Korean, Viet Nam & Gulf Wars. To a lot of Americans the gun is part of Americana like picnics & apple pie.

How much more science is Ambrosie & the BOG's waiting for? A vaccine?

Open carry is just a way to show people they are armed & you better not mess with them as they are warriors. The only problem is someday they'll meet someone also with a gun who is more of a warrior than them.... Idaho is an Open Carry State. I was in a Coeur D'Alene service station paying for gas when a young guy walked in with a handgun holstered to his side. He walked around the store making sure everyone saw him & he had this smirk on his face, probably singing the Bad Boy theme from Cops in his head. Meanwhile, I pay for gas, buy a bottle of wine & I'm asked for ID by the cashier as it is the law. I asked him why he needs to see my ID as I haven't seen 21 since 1976 & my grey hair & beard should have given away the fact I was at least in my 50's. He said he could be fined or go to jail if he doesn't ask. Those are some kind of ****** up government priorities as the dude with the gun could start shooting for no reason. Yet the State of Idaho is doing its Due Dilligence keeping underage drinkers from behind the wheel.

This isn't Loblaws. Fans aren't stupid & they'll figure it out soon enough. They know what is going on unlike the inner workings of a large private business. If Hufnagel's salary is $650,000 (low estimate) & he cuts it to $520,000 (20% cut) yet they still lay off two assistant coaches who make $50,000 each & he could have taken a further pay cut to get down to $420,000 to cover those 2 coaches salaries but refuses it still is money that counts towards the admin cap as well as operating expenses of the Stamps. he just gets more than anyone else. Myself, I'm tired of seeing these CFL team Presidents, Head Coaches & GMs give themselves the big money while everyone else suffers. If anything good comes from this damned pandemic it's the end of paying guys like Hervey, Hufnagel & Jim Popp these outrageous big bucks. Look how much the Riders paid Chris Jones. The money needs to be spread around fairly.
-
If these CFL execs are so selfish that they'd keep their salaries while cutting assistant coaches who make 10% of what they do is pretty low.
-
Agree. It's just another stupid idea from You Know Who. Don't grow the game in Southern Ontario. Grow it in Serbia. Surely the big bucks will flow. Build it & they will come.
-
Guys like Hufnagel, Hervey & others have to bite the bullet. Not fair they draw such large salaries that even with a 30% pay cut they still make $300=400,000 a year while the videographer or an assistant coach on their teams making thousands less are let go. Bite the bullet. Total BS with upper management being overpaid.

Thanks, pretty eye opening statement.

Can someone post the Bombers operating expenses as I'd really like to know if it's as high as Smith says...

Ambrosie has botched this delayed/ cancelled (?) season right from the start. From his disastrous ask for millions from the Liberals to excluding the players from being involved in any contingency plans. It's not getting any better under his watch. Everyone is left in the dark & time is a wasting. This should be Week #1 of the regular season. .

2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.

No receiver could shine in that LaPo offense. Look how Drew Wolitarski was just wasted for 3 seasons. I just hope that Buck Pierce isn't a clone. That he has some ideas to bust these guys out throwing the ball. And it isn't just business as usual. I want to see some 300 yard passing games & a couple of receivers make it to a thousand yards. Even though he won a GC as OC, I was so happy to see LaPo leave. -
For purely selfish reasons along with the fact my son & his wife live in the Seattle area, I'm hoping that Alaska Airlines comes back to Calgary as it was the only direct flight from Calgary to the Emerald City. It was cheap as well. Less than $300 Canadian return. They offered at least 3 flights a day & everytime we went it was packed. So, business was good. So convenient as it was barely an hour's flight. Now, who knows if Alaska Airlines comes back with this &*(%$#@< virus?

2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.

Just to curb your enthusiasm, people… You know the Bombers record of recruiting game breaking deep threat receivers. I'm hoping that this was just a Lapo problem. Hopefully, we'll see. -
Read today on my phone that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds may not debut until 2022 or even 23. That there won't be one story arc for the entire season. That the series will be episodic. A beginning & an end to each episode. Anywhere between 10-15 episodes. It will also be going away from the more darker Discovery & Picard series. That it will be more optimistic in nature. Just making it episodic thus meaning easier & more simpler plots while delving into character development will truly make this show a hit.

Hello West Nile. This is Corona. Wanna mate?

And most people would say fine, shut the tv off. go to their device & check the score in 15 minutes without skipping a beat.
-
Exactly. You could have a million viewers & it still wouldn't be enough.

I advocated opening things up because obviously no one seems to care about the measures put in place to reduce the spread. Politicians talk but actions are louder than words. There is going to be a BLM demonstration in Innisfail, AB on Saturday. With the publicity it has received, I expect thousands of people will flock to that poor town of just 8,000. If there are any asymptomatic demonstrators there they'll bring in the virus with them. Well, now there's Jason Kenney who for months was telling Albertans to stay indoors. Yet, he announces that he supports the event even if the majority of the locals don't. They have been branded rednecks & racists by the MSM here in Canada because they were opposing it. Just typical redneck rural Alberta. I just see it as a hypocritical stance & it angers me a lot as it is unfair. Today, the MSM in the US has a number of stories about a second wave that has arrived. The Republican governors opened their states too early we're told so it's their fault & now they won't shut things down so we're told. Why should they when demonstrations continue? Much to the delight of MSNBC & CNN as well as Jake Tapper, Anderson Cooper & Don Lemon's glee. That seems to be okay. Keep demonstrating, folks!! Not just Trump loves ratings. I just said the hell with it. I don't like what is going on but I won't stay in self isolation anymore. Thank God, Alberta has gone to Stage 2 Friday. What a totally ****** up world we live in.

How can anyone who supports the ongoing demonstrations here & in the US criticize how things have been handled in America? Bad enough that they have a clown show in the White House with an absolutely lost President & his advisors who provides leadership like a guy going down a raging river on a raft without a rudder. Things are going too fast for Trump. Too many key issues to deal with simultaneously & he is unable to handle it. The Liberal MSM in the US keeps telling us about the second wave that is now here because Republican governors opened their States up too early too fast. To them, that was an evil thing those evil Republicans did but the 20 something Democrats. socialist, communist & progressive social justice warriors that just keep organizing demonstrations bringing tens of thousands people together during a pandemic everyday in close quarters clearly lacking social distancing is somehow okay & societally acceptable? To the progressive MSM these activist twenty somethings do the "good work" that needs to be done. Even though the spread of infections that these ongoing demonstrations will bring with more sickness & death in the coming weeks is somehow worth it. How many more deaths in the US are worth it? Two hundred thousand? Three, four or 500,000? A million? Two million??? Guess America will find out as it's federal & state political leaders seem to have lost their will to keep fighting the virus.
