  1. This pandemic won't end until about 70% of us have been infected. Expert microbiologists & epidemiologists say that the pandemic could last up to 2 more years with waves rolling through periodically like the Spanish Flu from 1918-19. If you don't live your life & become paralyzed by fear then what kind of life is it? Afraid to leave your house. Afraid to go to the store. Afraid to go for a walk. Afraid of other people. Chances are you'll contract it at some point. We have no idea when a vaccine will be available. that being said, I won't go out of my way to be out in public very much & act like its normal. I'll be staying indoors mostly like I'm doing now but if I need a haircut then I'll get one. If I have to shop then I'll shop. If I need or want something I'll get it. Damned if I'll let fear run my life. Now, the most important thing to me is a safe work environment when we do go back to work. Getting infected from one of my students is my biggest concern. I fully expect that just about all of us will get the virus at some point.
  2. Useless career politician. From a Liberal to Mayor of Winnjpeg to the NDP to the Greens.
  3. He had the talent but not the smarts or work ethic to succeed. No surprise he flamed out.
  4. I disagree as these players were supposedly the best players in their team's area. CFL teams would arrange scholarships for them to play somewhere coming out of high school or junior ball. Then stay in touch with them during their university careers & if they were really good make them territorial exemptions. The guys now are second & third round calibre players not first rounders like Jones & Mikawos were. Now, we know that second & third rounders can go on to become great players but on Draft Day they aren't considered the best like the territorial exemptions back then were.
  5. You can't open schools yet. You live in the country. On a Hutterite colony with wide open spaces. Not in the city with a thousand school buses chugging along with 60 students in each bus twice a day. No way to social distance & close quarters to sit for drivers & students. The virus would spread like wildfire on a school bus & given to family members, teachers & school bus drivers like myself if just one or 2 kids are sick. Try telling a kinder or Grade 1 to keep his mask on if he's been wearing it all day. After a few hours with saliva, food particles, sweat, milk, pop stains, snot & whatever else there would be on those masks just how effective & safe are they? Probably not very. As a driver I'm very concerned for my health. Kids will be taking their masks off. It'd be next to impossible to enforce. I can't drive & watch every kid in my rear view mirror on a 40 foot bus completely all the time. You also know that there are parents that don't care about anyone else & would send their kids to school sick thus infecting others. Now maybe students temperatures would be checked when they got to school but not on a school bus where they actually should be tested before they get on. Parents drop their kids off at their stop & leave so we can't deny a sick kid a ride as they'd be stranded. There is no way to check for anything. We have to take everyone whether they are sick or not. as a driver, I can't deny any student a ride. Truthfully, the child psychologist can go to Hell as he sits safely in his office miles from the nearest school prescribing theoretical answers to theoretical problems. The problem with theories are that they don't encompass real life & real life problems. As a driver, I want to be safe & for my family to be safe. So opening schools now or in 2 weeks? If they do that then thousands of drivers will quit in different provincial jurisdictions as most are high risks in their 50's, 60's & some into their 70's. There will be a shortage of buses on the road with not enough drivers. I can't even see schools being open in September.
  6. Stadium would be (based on LV & LA) at least 2B US & the franchise fee another 2B US. So, with exchange that would be well over $1.2 B so maybe 5.2 B Can. Then Buffalo wants a cut maybe another billion for future lost ticket & merch revenue for cutting into its territory before a penny is spent on the team itself. So $6.2 billion to start??? Ain't happening.
  7. Being a territorial exemptions as they were called back then was usually a big deal for local players. They used to be trotted out to the local media with a big splash & it was all smiles, handshakes & congrats for everyone. Local players were usually pretty happy to be designated territorial exemptions by the Bombers. It meant they were considered special, stood a better chance to make the team than draft picks & play at home in front of family & friends. In 1982, I remember Milson Jones & Stan Mikawos were our 2 territorial exemptions. It's a different time now. Both Jones & Mikawos were just grateful to be getting a chance to play for Winnipeg. They had no aspirations to play anywhere but with the Bombers at the time. Today, I believe some players would look upon it as being denied more money because they weren't drafted & not be happy. But at the same time, todays territorial picks aren't as good as the territorial exempt players were back in the 70's & 80's.
  8. Everything can be explained.
  9. Thank you.
  10. Who did we draft in the 3rd round?
  11. Good call!
  12. Matt Scianetti takes a trip in time back to Madden 2003.
  13. BC is horribly bad. Swing & a miss every year since 2014.
  14. So, Dave Naylor has an NFL helmet but no CFL.
  15. Did I just hear right that Ambrosie won't be taking part in the draft announcing picks? Like they can't put a camera in his home?
  16. That could mean, if true... the eventual return of other leagues & territories before Vince bought them out. Where wrestling once a month at the same venue would occur. Just like the AWA was in Winnipeg for decades. I doubt if ESPN would keep WWE a worldwide company. It would just fill time on their tv schedule.
  17. She would have done a much better job. Trump's base can chatter all they want about Ben-Ghazi & emails as loved ones get sick or die.
  18. I can see the Conservatives supporting this if the Libs want to do it but not the NDP, Block or Greens.
  19. Thanks. we don't even talk about it with her as she is very upset.
  20. I always wondered about that long commute from Calgary that you don't have lol. That would have been a killer especially in the winter on Hwy 2. Glad you don't have to do it twice a day.
  21. You live in NE Calgary, I thought & commute to Olds, don't you?
  22. Sorry to hear about your Aunt & I hope your Mom will be okay. My Daughter In Law's Mother is in a senior care home in the final stages of Dementia. She is in Brooks, AB in a long term senior care home. They have had a serious outbreak of Covid at the meat packing plant there. She is at great risk. And my Daughter In Law or her father can't visit either. Horrible situation.
  23. How would you go to work? 😉
