  1. Sweden is not successful. They are a country of 5 million with 10,000 cases & the mortality rate is nearly 9%. How is that successful? Their healthcare system will collapse like Italy. the government is playing with innocent lives. And Nicaragua? That is a country ripe with drug gangs & a generation ago was ruled by the Marxist & ruthless Sandinistas.
  2. Sweden has roughy 1/4 of the population of Canada & 10,000 plus cases. Easy to see that the country's healthcare system is being stretched to capacity. If things get out of hands as physicians there are suggesting it will then that system will collapse. The government is rolling the dice... Holy crap.
  3. Norway? They have 6,452 cases of Covid & 119 deaths with a population of 5.2 million. That's a death rate of 1.8%. Consider Canada. we have 23,318 cases & 652 deaths with a population of 37.59 million.. That's a mortality rate of 2.8%. Sweden is allowing everyone to get infected thinking a Herd Mentality will build up immunity in the population. A group of doctors have written the government begging them to reconsider saying a catastrophe is about to happen. Sweden has 10,151 cases with 887 deaths for a mortality rate of 8.73% with a population of 10.23 million. However, how much testing have they done if they're letting the virus run thru the population? The numbers could be much higher. Their healthcare system must be reaching a breaking point.
  4. Changed it for you. Brink succccccccccccked so many balls in the dirt, skipping around.
  5. WWE should be shut down as the wrestlers live in the community & are just spreading it.
  6. Would ypu want to be isolated for months on end away from your family on a CFL salary? I wouldn't. Then there's hotel staff & everybody else who comes in contact with the team. They'd have to be willing to be isolated for months as well. The NFL pays millions. The CFL minimum salary is 50,000 plus Canadian. What American player would be willing to do that? Coaches?
  7. Wasn't a Good Friday for Vince. The WWE must be hemorrhaging money right now. No wonder he shut down the XFL.
  8. I'll take your word as I forget how bad the Ti Cats were but I know that 2013 Bomber team was just a total laughing stock. Every team we played circled their calendar that year on their schedule because it was generally a guaranteed two points for them. Low point for me was driving to Winnipeg from Calgary in September of that year & sitting thru that BC Lions game where qb Jason Boltus played after Max Hall was sacked 5 times & couldn't move the offense. Boltus went 8 of 25 for 91 yards. No TDs, 3 Ints including a Pick 6 on his first pass attempt & a QB Rating of 4.3. Buck Pierce & Joey Elliott played & were wildly cheered by the fans that night. Only problem was they played for the Lions. We lost that night 53-17. That may have been the lowest point ever for me as a Bomber fan.
  9. By today, I don't mean just today but in this uncertain economic climate. Money won't be given out to the CFL to bail them out if unemployment levels are anywhere from 10-20% as some economists have predicted & the financial suffering continues after the pandemic is over. There's no way to justify doing it. Stadiums can be built as they are usually 3-4 year projects so they may be considered as infrastructure to get unemployed trades people back to work. But funding the CFL? I just don't see it happening.
  10. You know, 8 years later watching that game... I remember being down on Elliott & all the other qbs the team had back then because it was so easy to blame them for what had happened. The Bombers were 5-13 in 2012 & even worse in 2013. That 2013 team may have been the worse team ever fielded in CFL history & fans like myself were sick & tired of the lousy product being shoved at us by management. As I watched, I felt bad for Elliott because like Noeller said, he could have been a star on a different team. I don't know about being a star but certainly could have been an effective starter somewhere else. You can see the potential he had but sadly things were so bad that he was run out of town by angry fans & media. Sorry to say I was one of them. Elliot's misfortune was having really bad luck playing for the Bombers at that time. Amazing how much luck & timing plays into a career in sports. Let's face it, Elliott would never have developed here & his career had no chance with our misfit team back then.
  11. If Joey Elliott had some coaching he might have been successful. He actually looked pretty decent this game. His support system was abysmal & it would only get worse under Tim Burke & Joe Mack in 2013.
  12. Anyone watching the Bomber-Ti Cat game from 2012 on TSN?
  13. Walker can sit in anonymity for all I care. We have more important things to worry about. Maybe he wants to play in the XFL. Oh wait...
  14. I have no idea the point you're making here. Can you elaborate here because I don't think what you're saying is what Floyd is saying.
  15. Two years ago, negative nellies were forecasting the end of the CFL with the AAF & XFL coming onboard. Well, they're both gone now but the CFL still faces a huge challenge as do all established sports leagues of getting thru these scary & dangerous time.
  16. So, you're saying because you own a business that your life is worth more than mine or anyone else here? That anyone young, old, sick or immunocompromised is on their last legs anyway like Bill O'Reilly said so why save them? That seems to be the common theme of your argument with every post. The almighty dollar vs lives.
  17. In other good news, due to the Corona Virus the XFL suspended operations today & laid everybody off. I feel for the players, coaches & staff affected but not for billionaire Vince McMahon.
  18. I was smart enough to know if I continued to do that I wouldn't have stayed married long. Now 33 years later.... :)
  19. When I lived in Winnipeg & was much younger, I'd let my anxiety get to me as I had an extremely hard time listening to Blue Bomber road games on the radio.. Not many road games for any teams were televised back then. If CBC & CTV televised 4 Bomber games on the road in a single season that was considered a lot. So, that meant listening to the other 4 games on the radio. When I didn't have season tickets it meant that I suffered thru home games on radio as well. It was pure Hell. I'd get worked up so much to the point of almost being sick. It was crazy getting unto such a state like that but I couldn't help it. With all due respect to Bob Irving, & past Blue Bomber play by play announcers Ken Nicholson, Bob Picken & Jack Wells but I hated listening on the radio. My stress levels would rise to all time highs every game especially when something bad happened or we lost a close one. I'd suffer thru every bad play or close games as I'd picture what was happening in my head & my imagination would just make it ten times worse. I was also not easy to live with as my stress meant I'd yell & scream or sometimes throw something. It got to the point that I just couldn't listen to games on radio anymore so I stopped after I got married. Even that didn't help as I'd go nuts watching the clock. But at least I wasn't yelling. Lol. With TSN showing every CFL game now & being much older I don't get as worked up like I used to. I still yell at the television screen occasionally when a Bomber qb throws a pick, a fumble happens or we give up a long pass for a TD on defense but at least I can enjoy the games now whereas it was torture for me back in the day. I'm just glad I wasn't superstitious. That is all I'd have needed.
  20. Didn't know Bud Grant had polio as a kid.., https://www.startribune.com/lying-low-during-coronavirus-pandemic-bud-grant-sees-history-repeating-itself/569520562/
  21. Lived in Thompson in 1989-90. That summer of 89 was a summer of fires. They evacuated hundreds of people to Thompson from surrounding areas & even the town itself was on Evac Alert because the fires came menacingly close but it never occurred. When I see what happened to Ft McMurray I realize how lucky we were in Thompson. Fished on Paint Lake. Was on its winter road. Beautiful lake. Is Kississing Lake the one further south? Been so long I forget. That is a gorgeous lake from the highway.
  22. Wow, that is crazy. I'd say criminal.
  23. What was frustrating was when I was able to get through, a recorded voice would ask me for my SIN, my Access Code & then give me all the options I could choose. Then after choosing, I was told that there are too many people ahead of me so call back later. Then after another 20 or 30 calls I got back in & did it all over again only to be told to call back later. This went on with me calling back repeatedly. Then finally getting through & thinking how lucky am I??? I must have won the lottery. Word of advice, if you have to call EI just keep doing it even if you were told to call back later. Call back right away. Even if you have to do it 126 times. Eventually you'll get through.
