  1. Things will change, mark my words. I doubt status quo will remain. The question is how much will change? China manufactures most of the world's pharmaceuticals. What's stopping them from controlling who gets what, when & what price? Trudeau may think China is our friend & is filled with great admiration for them but they are our enemies & if allowed would crush us & our way of life. You have to wonder how things were allowed to get the way they were. No one seemed to care, I guess.
  2. I sincerely hope that the Globalism experiment of countries without borders, refugees allowed to cross unfettered into sovereign countries & supply chain management where we see both China & the US dictate what & how much countries get regarding ventilators & N95 masks. We need to take care of ourselves first as a country. We need to bring manufacturing back to Canada. Make things here like we used to. 3M has a manufacturing plant in Canada but it doesn't make masks. That has to change. It may be cheaper to manufacture goods in China but I'd be content to pay more knowing Canadians had jobs & we had enough to supply all Canadians with products we used to make here. I'm of the belief that will all change in the coming years. Do we want to be dependent upon the whims of dictators, unfriendly governments & nutcases in the White House when it comes to our healthcare & food supply chains? I don't.
  3. When Trudeau goes back inside, the doors close after his pressers everyday & the puppet strings are put down by Gerald Butts, does Justin go to his den & watch reruns of Friends all day long?
  4. Seems to me that in 2010, a year after the H1N1 pandemic when I went for my flu shot in October the H1N1 vaccine was included in that year's shot so it was also just a year to have it on the market.
  5. Yeah, there's no political partisanship on this thread. Even with an act of kindness there has to e an agenda? Okay then... What's Junior up to? Oh yeah, he's been self isolating for a month. Too busy raising the carbon tax while our economy is heading for a depression & giving himself a raise when millions of Canadians like me have lost or are losing their jobs. Our great ******* leader.
  6. It'll be interesting to see what happens next fall when the second wave hits. Will Trudeau extend benefits or just say sorry?
  7. My father spent his last years there from 1995 too 2002. I grew up in Riverview. I was glad he "went home" before he passed away from Dementia. We lived about 2/3 of a km from there on Clare Avenue. He was very well cared for. Sad news. I feel bad for both patients & their families in all long term care facilities everywhere.
  8. Heck of a lot more entertaining than the WWE effort.
  9. People throw out the phrase that Alberta needs to diversify the econmy like it's so easy & can be done quickly, Alberta has a highly educated work force of unemployed ex O & G workers. You'd think high tech companies would want to set up shop here yet it never happens because Alberta has to compete with other cities & countries. Maybe the business & income tax are less elsewhere. Maybe governments elsewhere are more business friendly. Certainly the climate plays a lot into decisions of companies to relocate here. To simply say Alberta "should just" diversify, well it's not that easy.
  10. No kidding, Mr Commish. Tell us something we don't know.
  11. Like I said, I ain't apologizing so you should move on. You always have the option to find work elsewhere if you're that bitter & hate it here that much. Notley was wearing her Che Guevara wristwatch & carrying signs saying keep Alberta oil in the ground when she was an MLA before she was Premier. And she hired wingnut commie eco terrorist Tzempora Berman as a provincial consultant for O & G regulations. Notley will more than likely get reelected in 3 years & ramp up spending again until she is voted out & the conservatives get back in & tell us we can't afford it & cut, cut, cut. Which is why this damned ******* governing by ideology has to stop. It's killing this province.
  12. I won't apologize for voting for the UCP. It's not like the NDP were doing a great job, either. I am very disappointed in Kenney. He talked tough as Opposition Leader. He talked tough during the election campaign. After he got elected he became a lamb dealing with the federal government. I think voters have noticed that but it's hardly as important as it was 6 months ago. Since 2015 we have had 2 successive provincial governments governed by political ideology. Both the NDP & UCP have sucked. The healthcare & education cuts are nothing anyone wants but Kenney did it anyway. That isn't good government. It's damned political ideology.
  13. How can Kenney say this will guarantee completion of Keystone when he is in a different country.? The American legal system as well as regulatory process won't care about that.
  14. I'm Conservative & voted UCP but even Jason Kenney's announcement today of investing in Keystone XL got me gobsmacked. Like WTF is he doing in the middle of a pandemic investing tax dollars while cutting in every aspect of our daily lives??? On Saturday they cut 128 M from education & directed it into fighting Covid 19 just 3 days ago saying as a province we are broke. Then 3 days later, we spend $1.5 B on Keystone XL??? Where did that money come if were broke. Yep, put money into a pipeline but not into healthcare. Crazy. I'm pissed off. Albertans are governed by ideology & not good government.
  15. Only a boomer cuz I had The Quiet Generation as parents. My age is what it is. I have no control over it. They passed on their experiences to me. I used to get tired hearing about the depression & that I didn't appreciate the value of money. Once, I was in high school & for the zillionth time I heard that damned phrase being thrown at me. I yelled back that of course I didn't appreciate the value of money because I'm only 15 & stormed out of the house slamming the door behind me so I got my first job. Bus boy at the Masonic Temple.
  16. I drove through an affluent area of Calgary about a week & a half ago. Big, big houses. In every driveway, people had 2 vehicles in the driveways. Lots had a third vehicle parked on the street. Some of them own recreational properties in BC, Montana or Arizona. People are maxxed out. Huge mortgages, multiple vehicle payments & credit card debts. If we do have a depression there will be a culling of the herd. I don't mean people dying. I'm talking about people being forced to live within their means financially. It will be difficult, it will be painful. It will be hard. My parents lived thru the Dirty 30's. Even when things were good in the 50's, 60's & 70's they were terrified of losing their money & our house. Five of us lived in an 800 sq ft home in Riverview in South Winnipeg. I had an older brother & sister. I didn't get my own room until my older brother got married when I was 13. They didn't spend on many luxuries because they didn't want to. We had one vacation as a family. Truthfully, just one. Even back then that was considered cheap. We drove to Vancouver when I was nine. We never stayed in a hotel. We stayed with family the whole way there & back. My folks would never had gone if they had to spend money on hotels. When I was a kid & I wanted to borrow a couple of dollars to go to the movies or get an ice cream cone at the BDI with my friends, I was always scolded about not appreciating the value of money. I was 8! I mean, it was living within your means to the point of paranoia but the Depression of the 1930's was a bad time for them & was very traumatic. My grandfather lost the family farm up in Moosehorn & my Dad talked about that a lot.
  17. You FART in your bathtub? I have never done anything like that ...………………………………………………………… never.
  18. Only if businesses big & small can bounce back. The Recession in the late 70's to early 80's lasted a long time as well. Changes happened after the 2008 recession as well. We just don't know as we've never experienced anything like this before.
  19. Ha ha. I know. I bet a lot of people thought the same thing on November 1, 1929.
  20. Well not really if people have no money to buy.
  21. What are plans for your band long term?
  22. They will, yes. Everything will be affected. We are heading for a full blown world wide depression. I'd assume deflation will follow. That $400,000 home you have may end up worth half that. Wanna sell your $40,000 truck & wondering why people are only offering 20? I also expect wages will follow suit & plummet as well. Unemployment will probably stay around 20% because of all the failed small businesses. And large companies that go under because they fundamentally could not adapt to the soon to be New World Order.
  23. What's going to happen to all the 1 year deals if the CFL doesn't play? Does that mean they are null & void if players don't get paid or the season is cancelled? Personally, I hate the 1 year deals so maybe a change in contract length will come out of all of this Covid-19 crisis.
  24. A lot of coaches wouldn't have answered the question directly or talked around the question. I'm no Duron carter fan but he isn't even on a CFL roster now but can't remember as it seems like years ago that the FA signing period opened & we were actually talking football.
  25. You'd never know it. You were great!
