In Calgary, the Stampede is still a go. very little talk of cancelling. I think it should be cancelled as upwards of a million people show up every year although a lot of visitors are American or from Europe. So borders may still be closed. What I'm seeing with these fairs & festivals is that they seem to wait before announcing they're cancelling even though the government is telling us to stay indoors, limiting the amount of people gathering together & use social distancing. Or businesses are shuttering & layoffs continue. Like the health of people aren't important just as long as they get their festivals in & make their money.

Duron Carter left after the 2018 season. Don't even know why Craig would even mention him. Carter has always been a headcase.

It's all in fun, Noeller. Embrace it. -
I watched the beginning of Raw tonight. Joan Jett came on from last year's WM & I turned it off. I won't be watching anymore until they go back to live shows & actual wrestling when this coronavirus is over.

So, now dogs will be sacrificed as we know humans will do that.

I agree. What was the point of Dickinson calling out Carter? didn't make a lot of sense.

Well, everyone is suffering so no reason to think pro sports would be untouched. If players think they'll get their full contracts in a shortened or cancelled season they live in a dream world.

Kenny Rogers is going to hit you with a baseball bat.

For me, I find this easy. In 2015, I had foot surgery that went terribly wrong. I developed a severe bone infection about a month after surgery as the metal hardware had bacteria on it. One incision on my foot where a screw had been inserted refused to heal. I was bedridden for 10 months where I could not walk at all. I had to keep my weight totally off my foot. I also endured 3 hospital stay each about a week long during that time when the infection flared up & had to be debrided & treated by antibiotics. Without going into boring details, 4 month recovery time turned into an 18 month ordeal. My last day at work was end of June 2015 & I didn't return until January of 2017. I have nerve damage where that incision is now & it tingles constantly. Some days more than others. I'm always aware of the time that incision took away from my life back 5 years ago as it always reminds me constantly. The last time I was house bound just getting out of bed to use the bathroom was a sometimes painful but always an exhausting experience. Taking a shower & having to stick my left foot out of the bathtub & under the curtain as it wasn't supposed to get wet while wearing a plastic cover over my foot was a pain in the ass. So, one thing I developed was patience. My life was on hold for 18 months under difficult situation. So, seeing as I no longer have those mobility issues this self isolation is a piece of cake. Last summer, I had my left knee replaced. After a couple of weeks I was able to start moving around. Once my stitches came out I was able to start physio & the road back to recovery so that little stint was easy as well. I was driving again in 6 weeks & my wife said I was on my own to get to my doctor & physio appointments. My advice to anyone going stir crazy right or depressed right now? Take it from someone whose life was on hold for a year & a half & in the middle of it all didn't know when things would get better. Just be patient. Take it one day, even one hour at a time if you have to. Do something you like. Stay engaged with people you know & like on social media. I do CFL trivia with my facebook friends & the response is amazing. I have pvr'd a bunch of old movies I'm stockpiling to watch when I feel like it. Old Westerns & war movies. I'm going to start doing some reading. My son is reading a book about Richard Nixon & I told him once he is done I'd like to as well. But patience is what you need even when there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. One other thing from my long experience of being a shut in... Appreciate your loved ones. Don't be a pain in the ass when you get down. Don't take your frustrations out on them as they feel the same way you do.

"Joe Kapp is not exactly someone anyone should cheer for." That doesn't sound at all like you said he shouldn't be cheered for just acting like a clown for punching Mosca. It seemed you were saying that he shouldn't have ever been cheered at all going back to his playing days which is wrong. I think the way you said it rubbed me the wrong way as Kapp played hard when he was on the field, was a good teammate & has been as good a citizen as anyone else since his football days were over. You made it sound like he was some kind of a bad guy when we know he isn't. Kapp & Mosca holding a grudge for 56 years is stupid. Saying he & Mosca were foolish octagenarians for their most recent dust up is a fair comment. Anyway, I now understand what you meant so unless you have anything more you'd like to add, this particular discussion is over.

His Dad wasn't a socialist. He was a Communist. Spent time studying in Moscow in the 50's.

I'll take an 8 game season with playoffs no question. I'd be ecstatic.

Didn't know that, thanks.

This isn't directed at you, 17to85. Here's the thing. Yeah, it's a joke & all generations get old eventually. But it's just not about Boomers. My wife is an Oncology RN at the Tom Baker cancer Centre in Calgary. She sees death everyday. Sometimes her patients come in for treatment & then disappear so she checks the obits every morning before work to see if she can recognize any patients she has treated that have passed away. These nurses & doctors are pretty stoic when they lose a patient. It's still very hard on them when someone young or was a long term treatment patient suddenly dies & it does take a toll emotionally. Cancer doesn't discriminate based on age like people do. Every cancer patient undergoing chemo & radiation treatments has their systems immuno-compromised. The 80 year old with liver cancer to the 4 year old with neuroblastoma or the 30 year old with a young wife & family who has been stricken with Leukemia. What about them? They're not all Boomers & I'd say the vast majority are super scared & don't want to die. Floyd suggested Boomers are taking up space like somehow it's their fault they are old & sick. My son's sister in law is expecting a baby in Portland any day now. As of today she is 3 days overdue. That infant for all intents & purposes when born will have no immune system as it hasn't fully developed. A perfect little target for the Covid 19 virus. What about that kid? Shouldn't it have a chance to grow & get old like us? Millions of people of all ages are sick & taking up space in hospitals worldwide. None of them want to be there. As a society, do we now look at bed shortages, ventilator & mask shortages & blame it all on the sick? Now, we're going to sacrifice them for the good of the economy? Or for people who are conceived as being more net contributors to society? Giving them a better chance to live & recover. Is that what society has come down to now? We'll now dispose of the old & sick to save someone younger?? They are doing that now in Italy & it looks like it'll be that way in the US in the coming weeks. What a terrible position to be in as a treating physician to have to make those choices. And if one of those sacrificed is a loved one. I just can't imagine... And Floyd, if you get sick & have to go to hospital, chances are there will be a Boomer nurse & physician to take care of you & to allay your fears all the while risking their health & the health of their families to treat you. We're in this together.

Great series. I remember at the time there was this ongoing discussion among sci fi fans which series was better. As big a Trek fan that am, I have to say Babylon 5 was much better. It lasted 5 seasons with over 100 episodes. Really surprised CTV Sci Fi doesn't play it. Never understood why they fired Michael O'Hare who played Commander Jeffrey Sinclair & replaced him with Commander John Sheridan played by Bruce Boxleitner.

TrueBlue4ever's memory about his Dad triggered a long forgotten one in my mind. It's football & it's the Bombers but it had nothing to do with any player or game on the field. I was in Grade 12 & in my Business Administration class. My teacher gave us a major project to do. To study a business, how it's set up, etc. How the money flows, the management team, kind of business, customers, marketing of products etc, etc. We also had to do our reports in groups so it was a major undertaking worth a major percentage of our term mark. Something like 35%. I called my 2 football playing buddies who happened to be taking the same course over & said, "Let's do the Blue Bombers!" Well, they were all in & we sat down to plot a course of just how we'd get this done & how to approach it. I called the Blue Bomber office & spoke to then GM Earl Lunsford. I asked if we could interview him on this subject & we agreed. We planned the interview, wrote down a ton of questions & all 3 of us went down to Maroons Road tape recorder in hand to interview Lunsford. He was very friendly, genuinely interested in what we were doing, answered all our questions about the business side of the Blue Bombers & gave us plenty of his time. Like 2 hours. IIRC, he seemed to be getting as big a kick out of talking to us as we did to him. Anyway, a great meeting & we took away a lot of information we used in our project's report. The next executive that we wanted to speak to was then Bomber President Paul Morton to discuss how community ownership works. That interview didn't go as well as Lunsford's. I was on time but my 2 partners never showed up. So, I sat in Morton's office doing small talk while waiting for the other 2 who never came. Morton was growing impatient so I decided to forge on ahead on my own after about 10 minutes. Luckily, I had my tape recorder so I asked all my questions & some that I made up on the fly & left after about half an hour. Morton was helpful but not as outgoing as Lunsford was. He definitely was not impressed that my 2 friends did not show up. When I think back, there I was with long hair, jeans, runner & a tee shirt talking to a multi millionaire businessman looking like a bum. Then my 2 compadres never showed. It's no wonder he wasn't impressed. I just remember his expensive suit, huge upstairs office at his movie theatre off of Notre Dame & his big thick moustache & sideburns. Here's a guy who being owner of a big movie theatre chain across Canada & who must have hobnobbed with Hollywood movie actors & shakers as well as being Bomber President & there I was just sitting across from his desk. A 17 year old kid just wasting his time. Next day at school I found out what happened to my friends. They were involved in a serious car accident. One of them hurt his neck & arm. He was wearing a collar & his right arm was in a sling. There were no smartphones back in those days so no one texted or called me to say what happened. I called Morton to apologize & explained what happened but he still didn't sound empathetic. Anyway, we were able to put the report together & our efforts got us an A so that is my non football memory of the Blue Bombers.

That is great. Your last part brought a tear to my eye. That is a wonderful memory.

Quit making this about ******* Boomers. We're all in this together & your take is just as bad as J5V's. By saying Boomer you imply it's anyone over 55's fault we have a pandemic. You don't like racism when Trump call it the Chinese Virus then quit making it about ageism. Your Boomer comment does not help.

I'm not worried about any Democratic States going to a more open situation but the Republican ones like Texas, Tennessee & Florida. they'll be locked stepped with Trump all the way. What scares me is that a new & worse outbreak in the US in a month or so because of Trump's incompetence will further drag the US down the economic **** hole thereby guaranteeing a Depression world wide. Triggering a second & more deadly wave of the virus world wide as well. No way will it stay contained within their borders. We are *******.

Agree. Things just become bogged down with a singular plot line the entire time. I still prefer 22 one hour long episodes where there can be different one hour stories within a storyline. In TNG, we were allowed to see how Data longed to be human & his attempts to be so. Especially the episode about time. Or Q giving Data the gift of laughter for a few short seconds. Worf was originally just a Klingon security officer but over the years we saw his character develop into a deeply religious Klingon who was very proud of both his Klingon & human roots. And we learned more about Klingon values than we ever did on any other Star Trek series. How Picard went from a lonely child hating grumpy old man in TNG's first season to a still gruff but kind hearted person who had a love of history & geology. The episode where an alien probe allowed him to have something he never had ; a wife & family. We see the loneliness he experienced when he out it wasn't real & his questioning of the choices he made in his life. I believe fans voted that episode the most popular ever of that series. None of these characters in today's Trek Universe would be allowed to grow & develop like that. You'd never see an episode that is solely concentrated on Picard being a husband & father on Discovery or the series Picard because it would take away from the 10 story arc. Yet it worked to perfection on a 22 one hour episodic sci fi series. In today's Trek World, there's no time for real character development. However, getting to know each character made Star Trek what it was going all the way back to Kirk in TOS. We saw the characters change in front of our eyes & we were invested in the different series because of it. I'll take a 22 episode season even with 4 or 5 duds over one that is 10 as the good outweighs the bad.
