  1. There should be a 75000 seat soccer stadium in Toronto for international matches like most countries have in one of their cities. If there is no push by govt to build that size of facility than I don't see any way for an NFL team in Toronto to come to a fruition.
  2. Just finished binge watching Boardwalk Empire. Little darker series than The Sopranos. They kill most of the main characters off. I thought the plot twist at the end with Tommy Darmody killing Nucky Thompson was brilliant. The only character I was sad to see him go with his demise was John Harrow, the crook who wore a mask to hide his half blown off face suffered during WW1. His character really grew on me as the series went on. Now watching Billions Season 1. Taking a bit longer to get into it like BE. But I intend to watch it all.
  3. Taxes in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal & Vancouver.
  4. Or they'd rather lie on a beach counting their money or play golf on their days off.
  5. Huge signing for the Jets back then as Dave was an Olympic hero & had a pretty decent career as a Jet. I think Scott Arniel was his linemate. You have to wonder why players wouldn't want to come to Winnipeg for a Stanley Cup run. We're talking, depending upon how deep the run is, 2-3 months max.
  6. Mexico City has a 72,000 seat stadium. Guadalajara has a 45000 seat stadium. The NFL has 11 NFL stadiums hosting events. Canada has 2 stadiums. BMO & BC Place with a capacity of 52000 seats. They could have used CWS in Edmonton with a capacity of 58000 but decided not to.
  7. The one game I picked that season to drive in from Calgary by myself to come see with my friend who lived in Winnipeg & it was that one.... It wasn't Boltus. It was "Big Chris" Streveler.
  8. They're putting 15000 temporary seats in BMO. Most countries use a world event like the WC to build legacy structures. Our sports infrastructure in this country really sucks. The biggest city in Canada has a stadium currently seating 27,000.
  9. Would you want him back here?
  10. More like 805,000 plus or 890,000 for CMA but whatever... https://data.winnipeg.ca/City-Planning/City-Of-Winnipeg-Population/mhuw-u7yg/data_preview
  11. We should have a WHL team but we know how that worked out. They could have played at the canada Life Center the way the Hit Men share the Saddledome with the Flames & Wranglers but Chipman didn't want them. Also, someone bring me up to speed but why couldn't the arena for the Ice ever get built?
  12. The sad thing about all these actors who quit hit shows is their egos always get the better of them. How many of them actually get a job in another TV series? Most just fade into obscurity.
  13. Could be but actors come & go like crazy on all of D i c k Wolf's tv series. It does affect ratings especially when lead actors constantly leave.
  14. Dylan McDermott's character Remi Scott is probably one of the most least likeable lead characters on police procedurals today. Add to that the constantly changing cast on both FI: Most Wanted & FBI: International & it's no surprise the 2 shows were cancelled. I hate Fire Country, I don't know why, really. I watched a few episodes & just tuned out so I don't get why it may get a spinoff. Back to the two FBI's. I'm surprised they didn't renew FBI: International. But once again, the way they explained the disappearance of the Fly Team's former boss Scott Forrester played by Luke Kleintank was so bogus. Hiding out with his double agent mother in Russia & throwing away not only his career with the FBI but also spend the rest of his life in an American prison as a traitor, if arrested. I mean, truly a **** explanation.
  15. How can you say the CFL is not a developmental league with probably 75% of the players on one year deals hoping to impress some NFL team by playing up here? Or the ones with 2 or even 3 year deals can leave to work out for an NFL team in the off season despite being under contract? The CFL wasn't considered a developmental league until we went hat in hand in the 90's to the NFL to bail us out after the failed expansion experiment or the CFL would have gone belly up. Even though the CFL paid back every penny of the $$$ owed to the NFL, that's where the one year deals of today & players having a window to try out in the off season comes from. Instead of trying to grow the game in Canada, the CFL has embraced this idea that by becoming a developmental league, it will attract better players at the expense of making it a stronger league nationally. Even Canadian players who come out of U Sports with dreams of big bucks & fame in their heads just sneer at the CFL as a place to play because they believe that we are nothing but a developmental league. That they are too good for the CFL.
  16. Best just to stay home.
  17. That has to be a headscratcher of a choice to coach qbs. Nothing Prukop does as a qb has anything in common with Vernon Adams. That team is going to be a shitshow this season.
  18. Winnipeggers who ***** & complain should go to Seattle for a Seahawks game. A city of nearly 5 million with a stadium down by the seaport area where container ships are loaded. Freeways are always jammed. Absolutely zero parking anywhere except on the street if you can find a space to park blocks away. There are a number of parking garages different distances from the stadium between 2-6 blocks away. You have to call these parking garages to reserve a spot. You can't just drive in. I don't know the exact price to reserve a parking space as my son paid for it the last game we went to in 2024. I think it's around $45 USD to park in the garage we were in. Getting in & getting out takes forever but at least it's close. Crime in the area is very high. Meth heads & street creatures are always around. You don't want to be caught by yourself after dark when the football crowd is gone. So, people hustle their ass to get to their vehicles after a night game where they lock the doors & feel safe. Sunday afternoon games are usually okay. But it is off the downtown in an older area & sketchy. I guess the area where Lumen Stadium is was a cool place when the stadium opened in 2003 replacing the Kingdome on the same spot. So, quit bitching Winnipeggers. You have it pretty good! Do you feel unsafe going to your car or catching a bus after the games at PAS? Compare the area at the U Of M where the stadium is located to where Canada Life Centre is downtown.
  19. Jericho's pushing 60 if he isn't there already. Wrestling takes a toll on their bodies. It's obvious he doesn't work out the way he used to. He also doesn't wrestle the same way, either. How??? What??? Huh??? They may as well have hired a fullback to coach qbs.
  20. You have a point. Ouelette has a new body & will be susceptible to muscle pulls & strains. For his overall health though he has done well. But he's still an older running back with a ton of mileage & you could see his body was breaking down last season. if he's lucky, Ouelette may have given himself an extra year or two.
  21. I first started going to games in 1968 when I was 13, it used to take me well over an hour to get to the games. Winnipeg Transit had buses from all over the city going to the games. I caught my bus at Osborne & Jubilee NB on Osborne Street. Getting home after the games took even longer. Unless the connections on the way home were bang on... At least 90 minutes. caught a bus after the game to take me East down Portage Avenue to the Bay. Do you believe at 11;30 or 11:45 pm (as evening games started at 8 pm) I'd wait on the East side of the Bay for the Osborne bus to take me to my last connection home. The Morley bus in Riverview. No way would it be safe enough to do that now. I never complained. When I started driving, I'd take my car to the games. I'd have to leave my house in Fort Rouge 90 minutes before the game & fight that gawd awful traffic on Kenaston Blvd NB & then over the St James Bridge to get to the stadium. Going home, the same SB on Kenaston was awful. That was the 70's & 80's. I guess it got even worse since. I never complained. Whether by bus or car, it's where I had to go & I never thought anything about it other than I had a rushed dinner when I got home from work.
  22. You know, if I'm wrong then I'm wrong & I won't double down on something when I am. I went back & reviewed attendance figures going back to 2013 & yeah, 17to85 is right, attendance has been strong. Some teams would kill for our numbers. So then. I'll admit he was right & I was wrong. However, if you think that averaging just over 30,000 with a team that won just 3 games during the 2013 season didn't have anything to do with the much anticipated new stadium that opened that year after a 12 month long delay then you're naive. People wanted to sit in it & experience the atmosphere of a new stadium. Still though, attendance has been pretty good over the past 12 years & better than my memory recalls. So, I was wrong & glad to eat a little crow.
