While the series has plenty of flaws I must be one of the few who like it. Although I wasn't sad to see the foul mouthed Michelle Vargas get killed off.

The My Lai Massacre up to 500 men, women & children killed. Lt.William Calley was the only American officer convicted even though 26 were charged with war crimes & atrocities.

When I was in Seattle visiting my son & his wife a month ago, I started watching a show called Another Life. Aliens made contact with Earth leaving a huge crystal shell on our planet. We are trying to communicate with it but we also sent a spaceship that travels the speed of light in search of the alien's home world so that we can make contact with them. Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica & Longmire stars as the Captain of the Earth ship. I got into it when I was there but don't have Neflix at home. Looking forward to seeing the remaining 5 episodes that I haven't seen when we go back down for Xmas. Has anyone else watched this show? If so, what are your thoughts? Critics hate it. No idea why the writers wanted such an undisciplined & dysfunctional crew of 20 somethings in the storyline.

Man, when I hear Da Nang, I don't think about beautiful beaches. I think about the Viet Nam War. The US Air Force had the biggest airbase in the world at the time in Da Nang. I remember being in the US on business a few times in the 80's & seeing former servicemen wearing Da Nang ball caps. If I was an American, I'd have been drafted to fight in Vietnam as I turned 18 in 1973 so that war hit home with me. That was a long & protracted war that actually started in the 50's with France as SE Asia back then was known as French Indochina but in the early 60's the Americans under Kennedy sent in military advisors & the war escalated under Lyndon Johnson in 1965. It ultimately cost him his Presidency as he introduced the draft & Nixon took over the fight in 1968. Peace talks began in Paris in 1969 & would last until 1973. America was a deeply divided nation. Different generation, different memories.

Why don't you just quit while you're marginally still ahead?? You're like a mosquito in a tent during the middle of the night.

Agree. It's week to week now so why not hang in there to see what happens? Strange decision by Gaitor.

Feeling introspective today...

Nice. Great choice.

O'Shea obviously backing up the wishes of his DC Hall.

We expected the Ti Cats to be where they were down east as the most talented team in that division. No one expected the Als to have won 10 games & hosting the EDSF this Sunday. jones should have been the East nominee.

Gonna be different not having CFL football on Friday nights & Saturdays.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
SpeedFlex27 replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Must be nice for McMahon to be a billionaire & be able to cash in his stock options from WWE to finance this little venture, Ha ha. That alone should have told him it can't work. Huge ego on McMahon's part thinking only he can make tis league a success. And you're right about not caring. After the CFL & NFL seasons back to back & the hype leading up to the Super Bowl, I do need a break & watching inferior football doesn't interest me. Most fans think the same. It was proven to be true last spring. -
Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
SpeedFlex27 replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
We saw how difficult it was for the AAF to start from scratch & just how much money was sucked dry. Even though the XFL is better financed thru Vince putting up so much of his up front money to get this venture going, he'll still have to deal with losses from every team. The other thing is starting this league in February which means cities north of the Mason Dixon Line down east or Texas in the West will never be able to have a team because of the cold & snow. Sure the weather will improve moving into spring but the transition takes time. Meanwhile 4 or 5 home games could go by until the weather is warm enough to attract decent crowds. The weather in Boston, Chicago, New York, Milwaukee, Kansas City or Detroit can be really bad during a cold & snowy winter. Which means this league will always primarily be a rump Sun Belt league. Not a great future. The only way the XFL has even a chance to survive is to move the season to the fall & go head to head with the NFL. I know that sounds crazy but a rump league won't survive. -
The only pleasure I take from that list we're on is that according to NBA players, Toronto is the fourth worst city to play in. Not much to do & the weather is nasty & cold. Players don't want to play in Canada. That's probably why Vancouver will never get another NBA franchise. Does my heart good when I see the Centre Of The Universe means nothing to some kid born & raised in Charlotte or Los Angeles. Kawhi Leonard was one & done in Toronto. Gone to LA the first chance he got.

True but the other guys didn't make millions although at the time it was more money than they probably ever dreamed they'd make. Average players went from $20,000 a year to $75,000 a year back in the early 70's & I know that was a big deal to the players who didn't come from the NHL. The other thing is, they'd have got the money from other teams if Winnipeg never had a team. Guys today are so spoiled in comparisons to that era. Especially when you compare the minor leaguers who signed with WHA teams. They were used to low pay, long drives to far flung places on the bus, cheap hotels, cheap food & being treated like **** by their minor league teams. The dream of playing in the Big League wasn't easy but they still pursued it hoping for a break that for most of them would never come. Then the WHA came along, Hull signed with the Jets, legitimized the WHA, big contracts were being offered to veteran journeyman minor league players & suddenly playing in the Peg with the cold & dirty streets wasn't that big of a deal.

Once again, appreciate the input. Thanks for stopping by.

That'll quiet the masses in Saskybush.

I believe that just because Gaitor never came back doesn't mean he can sign with the XFL. No longer being with the team & being released by the team should be 2 different things contractually.
-
Banks should beat out Fajardo.

Other teams do it. We don't. No reason why we can't but not LaPo's philosophy.
-
I don't recall when the World Hockey Association burst on the scene in 1972 Winnipeg having any trouble signing free agents. Bobby Hull was the best power forward in the world & he signed with the Jets. Other NHL stars followed like Thommie Bergmann, Serge Savard, Randy Carlyle, Chris Bordeleau, Ted Green, Ernie Wakely & Joe Daley followed. Then there was the influx of Euros that came over in the mid to late 70's. No one ever complained about the cold weather. Or how dirty it was. I'm sure most didn't like minus 35 temperatures but they shut up about it. Just a different generation of players today.
-
Like I said, maybe but he knows LaPo's system best & that would probably mean that what we do now with Harris at the expense of the passing game would stay in place which is not good. Do you think Ryan Dinwiddie would put in a different system offensive system if he became an OC with another CFL team? He'd be hired because of the Hufnagel-Dickenson system he has coached in for years. Dickenson's offense is the offense Huff coached & what Dave was familiar with as a quarterback, running backs coach, OC & HC of the Stamps. Look at the West Coast Offense coaching tree that Bill Walsh spawned in the NFL. He had assistants who learned & knew the WCO cold. Guys like Mike Shanahan, Jon Gruden, Andy Reid, Doug Pederson, Gary Kubiak & Mike Shanahan to name a few. They knew the system & they coach the system.

So then, based on the spoiled athletic snowflakes who now play pro sports, only teams in the Sun Belt of the US deserve to have teams.
