  1. Yet, we'll always see the Leafs. And in every intermission they discuss the same team. Even if they aren't playing.
  2. He'd have to go a long way to beat what Hill did. Just saying. Alford played great but he was only a Bomber for a season. You can't make assumptions that he'd be the best DB to ever play. He had 47 interceptions for 482 yards in 90 regular season games, including a CFL record 5 in one game against Hamilton in 1990. He had 77 tackles, 5 fumble recoveries for 82 yards & scored 3 touchdowns. As well as being adept at blocking punts & field goals including the Eastern Final in 1988 vs the Argos. As good as Alford was for one season, this man was spectacular for five. Oh yeah, then there's Less Browne, the other corner on the other side during that 1990 season, He was another great one. I won't get into his stats. And there's a few other guys who had some great years. Alford had a helluva year in the NFL. I'm not disputing that he's a talented DB. Only here a year. But who knows would he be the best? Maybe but that would spark quite a debate.
  3. Not me, I'm talking about the national media. They'll probably say the Jets got lucky. You have to live outside Winnipeg to see just how badly the Jets are ignored. It's like they don't exist. I'll give you an example. In Calgary, we have Sportsnet West. The Oilers & Flames aren't playing. The Jets have a game. What do I see in Calgary? Should be the Jets game, right? Nope. they'll show us Boston at Minnesota. Totally sucks.
  4. The national media sure lets the Jets fly under the radar. They don't give a care about the team. In Calgary, we barely see them on tv. No mention of the Jets out here. Whenever I do see an ad on Sportsnet, every other Canadian NHL team is shown but never Winnipeg. To go into Vancouver & knock one of the better teams off at home is a big deal but it'll be underplayed. The Jets got lucky. All the bounces went their way.
  5. With Zach throwing him the ball, maybe Weineke comes back strong. I wouldn't write the guy off just yet. I think in our passing system, he could do well.
  6. However, that doesn't make us look more knowledgeable when it comes to football discussions about players. Only a lot dumber with a mindset like that. On par with how the knuckledraggers on Rider fans think about us.
  7. Edwin Harrison's grandfather Calvin Jones played just one year for the Blue Bombers in 1956. He was a WIFU All Star. He died on December 9, 1956 when the plane Jones was a passenger on slammed into Slesse Mountain just outside of Chilliwack, BC. Sixty four people died on that plane (Trans Canada Airlines Flight 810) including Jones & 4 Saskatchewan Roughrider players: Gord Sturtridge & his wife Mildred, Mel Beckett, Mario DeMarco, Ray Syrnyk & a Roughrider Director Harold McElroy. At the time, it was the worst air tragedy in Canadian history. They had all been in Vancouver for the WIFU & IRFU All Star Game played on December 8th at Empire Stadium.
  8. The management team gains control of Brian Wilson's money, property & estate. Well, what possibly go wrong with that?
  9. Thanks to Curling Canada for no information leaving it up to the media & fans to speculate what happened which is probably worse than making the announcement explaining why.
  10. Just a 1 year deal. Maybe both sides want to put off a longer contract until they get to know each other & see how things go this season. Who knows maybe Nathan Rourke will be back. I will say this, from what I've seen from Dolegala, he can ball. With an actual quality OC in Jordan Maksymic, he may do very well as a backup to Vernon Adams.
  11. He's one guy we'll miss. I always said he was the heart & soul of our receiving corps. I hoe that when Bailey retires, it's as a Bomber & not as a member of another team.
  12. We had Bailey on a pretty cheap deal so anyone who replaces him would be the same or more expensive. Then why get rid of him? I'm really trying to figure out what is going on with the Bombers & free agancy. In the recent history of free agency going back ten years, I don't think I've ever seen a team sign no one.
  13. I'm just mellowing in my advanced age. I really don't want to fight with anyone here anymore but I'll still stand my ground if need be but perhaps do so in a more respectful way. I used to think I knew it all but now I find as I get older that I'm forgetful with player names & circumstances that I used to rattle off so I'm not as smart as I thought I was.
  14. I think that'll be wishful thinking.
  15. Lighten up. People are just commenting. Nobody cares if you're butthurt. Better be careful who you're calling"assholes"!
  16. Yep, their fans are *******
  17. Next year, it'll be Demski. Lawler & Schoen in free agency... If we can't reload this season then how will we reload next year with those 3 set to be free agents? One year deals (Schoen) just complicate everything.
  18. Ploen deserves his own statue at Princess Auto Stadium.
  19. I'm not a salary cap guru. I just put it down to basic math. Subtracting players salaries that are now gone should open some money up. However, Schoen & Brady have cost us around $460,000 next season. We do have Lawler at around $275,000 & Collaros at $500,000 so I guess pickings are slim. Like I said, I'm no salary cap guru, so I'd appreciate not being attacked over this. If I need to have someone explain it, please do.
  20. Defensively, there are holes to fill. We are going to get run on with whom we have now playing the Front 7.
  21. One injury on the OL with the lack of depth we have & we're in deep doo doo. The DL & linebackers don't look much better. I'm worried.
