  1. Willard Reaves was a great back. Absolutely dominated his position in the CFL & was feared as he could deliver some punishing hits as a back & was strong enough to run over tacklers. On the next play he could finesse, dangle a tackler & then explode by him. He also had the advantage of a great OL blocking for him. Loved watching guys like Reaves, Miller & others play as they were all deserving of the praise heaped on them. However, I was fortunate enough to see Dave Raimey play. He played on a very bad football team. He didn't have the luxury of a great OL opening holes for him. Matter of fact, the OL that played in front of him was the worst in the CFL from 1967 thru the 1969 season. There wasn't a great qb calling the plays as Ken Ploen had retired to be replaced by the inept rookie John Schneider. There was no genius coordinator calling the plays just the hapless Joe Zaleski. Raimey had just one teammate who could be a threat as a receiver in flanker Ken Nielsen. That was it for the Bomber offense as far as personnel went. Raimey had to virtually do it all on his own. The result was he didn't have better stats than a number of other backs on this list. Yet between 1965 & the first 2 games of the 1969 season he rushed for almost 4,000 yards & was elected into the CFL HOF in 1989. That speaks volumes for a player stuck on not just a bad team at the time but a dreadful team! He was a CFL All Canadian in 1966 as well as a Western Conference All Star in 1965, 1966, 1967 & 1968 for Winnipeg. He was the CFL leading rusher in 1966. He was a dangerous kick returner as well with 3,234 KO yards for the Bombers. I know that this may sound like a cliche but he did put the Bombers on his back multiple times & carried that team as there was literally no one else that could do it. I don't see the nominees listed yet but once they are, he & Lewis will be my 2 choices. And no, Raimey was not an obscure player nor am I trying to impress anyone here with my knowledge. I'm trying to contribute & partake of that knowledge as I saw most of these players play. I known how good some of them were against their contemporaries. I too, am frustrated that a current player in Bryant won as a tackle over some other of the greats but it is what it is, I guess.
  2. I was there in Oct 2014. There were people climbing out onto outcrops of rock at the North Face & taking huge risks. The bottom is 5,000 feet straight down in places. In others, if you fell maybe a rock sticking out would break your fall 1,200 feet down. Be interesting to see what the racial breakdown would be for deaths as the majority of the people being stupid on that day were Asian males.
  3. The temp in the room must drop by a hundred degrees when she & Philpott enter. She's out to get Trudeau. Maybe have him removed as leader.
  4. Noeller would like this story... In 1996, I got a part time job as an usher at the Saddledome. Not for hockey as I've never been a Flames fan but because I wanted to see the musical acts perform there. I saw Metallica, Kiss, Hootie & The Blowfish as well as the Hip, 54-40, Def Leppard & the Smashing Pumpkins. However, the main reason I wanted to work at The Saddledome was to see the Brier. So, I worked every event that year including the Brier. I actually walked down to the ice surface after the Thursday evening draw & it was awesome. I said hello to Eddie Werenich who also was down there. The championship game was Alberta vs Manitoba. Kevin Martin vs Vic Peters. During the second end I had to go down to pick something up in the Ushers Locker Room where we changed. There was a blackboard & no one was around so I quickly scribbled "Go Manitoba!!" as I was leaving & thought nothing of it. Just scribbled it for fun. Well.... No one saw me do it but an over exuberant supervisor's head exploded & he began looking for the culprit (me) by actually interrogating every usher as they stood at their stations throughout the Dome threatening to fire whoever did it. One of the ushers close by came over quickly & warned me that this idiot was out to find out whoever dared say "Go Manitoba!!" If he found out then it would mean instant termination. We're supposed to cheer for Alberta, doncha know??? Well, **** him. When he came to talk to me I just said I knew nothing of what happened. He said to me if he ever found out who did then they're gone. Just shook my head at the stupidity & bullying by some 23 year old punk. Anyway, Manitoba lost but it still was worth it seeing this guy going crazy. He never did find out that it was me. For the rest of the year, I'd just smile at him behind his back & chuckle.
  5. Now some in the media & on social media are focusing on JWR taping conversations. That Wernick was unaware & that as a lawyer she knew it was wrong. Trying to twist it in Trudeau's favour. How does she stay in the Liberal caucus? She must be hated.
  6. Whoa.
  7. If Taylor is that good then why are stuck with the gawd awful Rod Black? Why can't TSN get rid of him & bring in new blood? Get that fricking fracking dinosaur off sucking the life out of me on my 50 inch tv screen.
  8. No. Saying thanks for the donation was the wrong thing to say. Then talking about his government's reconciliation success while being heckled & two protestors were being dragged out was arrogant. Trudeau was trying to be condescending & snotty. It backfired.
  9. Long time.
  10. When was the last time a team from Manitoba won the Brier? I could care less if Koe wins or not.
  11. I laughed every time he got squashed. I was very concerned for the well being of Frankie. Not Koko Beware.
  12. This definitely was a guy whose shtick & trained Macaw made him a star. Limited wrestling ability as far as I remember.
  13. I never raised our two sons that way. I just hope they don't act foolish if & when their time comes. I also see that some children now are rejecting their parents claims that vaccinations will give them autism. They are questioning how their parents could put them in danger of getting sick & spreading viruses to immune supressed people & infants with absolutely no scientific & medical claims to back up their parents warped beliefs.
  14. I was at a Mongolian grill restaurant in Seattle last Saturday. There was a "Reveal Party" going on. So many people came there was a huge long lineup at the buffet table. Maybe a hundred guests. Millennials... like I care the sex of your unborn kid? It's also bizarre to me. Why the need for a reveal??? That generation needs to get over itself.
  15. Dave Raimey needs to be in there. Led the CFL in rushing. He's in the Blue Bomber HOF as well as the CFL HOF. Multiple West Division & CFL All Star.
  16. Well done, Justin...
  17. Just another day in the life of our Prime Minister who can't stop tripping over his feet even when standing still.. The gift that keeps on giving.
  18. Well, if Eric Lapointe takes over as owner I guess that means Kevin Constantine will be back as Als HC sooner rather than later. Only the French in Quebec can run a football team, I guess. Only they know how to build a winner.
  19. Have you ever been to Azteca in the States? Mostly in Washington, Oregon & California. Great Mexican food!
  20. The bad thing is that whenever a team folds we slide into the East. Then when a new team is established we slide back into the West.
  21. Par for the course. Cue the 70's, 80's,90's & 2000's. Except this time a buyer is lined up.
  22. Not if you saw Bill Frank play. He was a mean, nasty & big OL. He protected the backsides of Jonas & Brock. He was considered the best tackle in the CFL when he played. Multiple award & CFL all star winner. To me, the 2 best all time are Frank & Walby.
  23. That is not what I mean at all.
