  1. What do you expect him to say? That he missed it. Yeah, that'd play well with the fanbase. The guy's gonna say that to save his ass, Chances are he's never coming back so it seems dumb to argue about it anymore.
  2. When my son played JUCO in Northern Cali, he was the only Canadian on the roster. Most of his teammates were black & came from the Hood in LA, San Diego, San Fran, Oakland, San Bernadino, Sacramento, etc. These kids were dirt poor & went to lousy & substandard high schools so their grades were below the standards needed to play in the NCAA. Most of these kids got horrible SAT scores & could barely finish high school. Their reading comprehension may have been on a Grade 7 level. Don't even talk about math & the sciences. Their socio economic disadvantages were many. Most kids that got into JUCO tried to follow the dream of playing for a 2 year scholarship at a prestigious D1 college to get their NFL shot & that was their only goal. Most, if not all didn't know where Canada was, couldn't name one Canadian city & or even heard of the CFL. Never having being exposed to the CFL growing they didn't know about the opportunities available to them. Most didn't want to come to Canada. I guess they want to go back to the Hood with their gang friends & live the lifestyle rather than take a life gamble & give the CFL a shot. Even though life for them is hard, it's all they know outside of football. I'd be skeptical this would work but having said that, it's at least an idea that is outside the box & we've shown more initiative discussing it than the CFL has done marketing the league or improving scouting in a decade. So, good job at least coming up with ideas to discuss.
  3. Dunigan doesn't go on a broadcast & say something like that unless he had it corroborated by others as well. What would he have to gain to disparage Lieghhio like that? Anyway, if his kick was straight & true then why did the Bombers dump him? He did all 3 phases of kicking. It would have been advantageous to keep him.
  4. Legs shanked it & had it not been blocked he'd have missed. Duningan said that on TSN. He was there & saw the play. He had a better view than we did on tv. This, "it was blocked" is just a big excuse. Sorry, not sorry.
  5. Legs had one job when he had to kick that FG. He failed. Walyers & Osh told him to hit the road with an apple & a road map to Hamilton.
  6. I doubt if Football Canada or the provincial bodies would sanction something like this so insurance would be very expensive. Senior football used to be very popular in the 1950's & 60's & there was even a national championship but the leagues in Canada all went under because of the cost. I'm not saying what Booch & you are proposing isn't a good idea as it is but we have a huge country & to establish some kind of a league for Canadians & American kids would be very difficult.
  7. We've all done stupid stuff where thinking back.... things could have turned out very bad. I had a fight in a bar (Maryland Hotel) which was a dive even back in the late 70's & held my own with this dude until another guy jumped in. Then it was a matter of getting them off me which my friend did & running for our lives to his car which luckily was parked close to the door. He had managed to get out ahead of me & unlocked his car. We got the hell outta there so fast. My buddy drove like a maniac south on Maryland & then east on Portage. We started feeling safe when we got to Osborne Street & calmed down when we realized they weren't following us. I shudder to this day thinking what might have happened if I had to open the door with a key.... as I know at least two maybe three guys ran out of the pub after us. I was so scared I never even felt the bruising & blood on my face I had. As well as a cut on my right hand as I recall. We had gone to see the strippers & the bar was full of bikers & other low lifes. I never had another bar fight again. Learned my lesson.
  8. Dunigan said from his view that had it cleared the players that Legs had shanked it left. He's fricking lucky it was blocked as the argument will always be, would he have made it? Anyway, I think Walters & O'Shea gave us the answer when Legs was released.
  9. When is Laine's contract up? I just checked as it's up after the 2025-26 season. An $8.75 million hit the next two seasons after this. Yes, we won't be trading for him. That contract is brutal.
  10. He's a gooder. But of course, they'll keep him on the bench.
  11. Probably not as Canadian OL are paid a premium over Americans, which is sad. A guy like Bryant should be much better paid. Especially over some of the interior Canadian O Linemen like Sukh Chungh who for the most part is a pylon when it comes to pass blocking but gets extremely well paid to yell out that old lookout block to Adams.
  12. Could you imagine the outcry if junior leagues across the country opened up their rosters to Americans right across Canada because in order to do what you're suggesting that would be the only way. CFL teams wouldn't spend a penny on funding a developmental league for young American players as the CFL is broke. Canadian kids out of high school looking for a place to play & develop would be the first to be froze out as they can't compete with better trained Americans. Especially on both sides of the LOS. Whether it would be good for the CFL or not, it would never happen. It certainly wouldn't happen at the U Sport level with government funding. I doubt if the Provincial Football Boards as well as Football Canada would sanction it anyway.
  13. We lost one more regular season game in 2023 than in 2022. We lost the GC by 4 points in 2023 instead of by one in 2022. So, you're saying we had a worse season? That's like Jim Kirk saying to Federation Agriculture Under Secretary Nilz Baris in ST: TOS Episode, "The Trouble With Tribbles", I was not aware Mr. Baris that twelve Klingons constitutes a swarm".
  14. When the chips were down & Legs HAD to make it.... He didn't & that was the bottom line. That's why Walters & O'Shea got rid of him. They lost trust in his ability to make the pressure kicks.
  15. How many guys do that well? Not many. We tried to cut costs with Lieghhio doing all 3 & look where it got us.
  16. What I wish for is Castillo comes back. The nightmare is giving the kicking job to some deer in the headlights rookie who has already missed the kick before he even started. That's what happened with Lieghhio. He couldn't handle the pressure. Kickers in the CFL don't make a ton of money. Unless you're Jason Medlock, you're not making $200,000 a year. So, signing him is a matter of priority & not affordability. If Walters doesn't want him back that is a decision he'll make. You'd think after the fiasco of 2022, he learned his lesson. Kicking cost us a Grey Cup. They can make it work, I'm sure.
  17. That absolutely sucks to take that part of the game away. Jeezus.
  18. Why would you be surprised if Castillo is back? He had a great year & our kicking game wasn't in turmoil. Why would the Bombers get rid of him? If they do, then whatever happens kicking wise that's bad is on them. Just like 2022.
  19. What's this Fort Hew stuff I read from some of you guys?
  20. When that FG in the GC was blocked, I jumped up screaming! "I knew that SOB would miss!! I knew it!!" Even though it was blocked I had zero confidence he would make it. I just knew that there was a good chance Liegghio would miss. Sure it was blocked but Dunigan was saying in their regular season kickoff show that he shanked it anyway had it not been blocked. Meanwhile, Castillo was virtually money all season. I have no idea why we don't lock him up on a 2 or 3 year deal. It's great that Liegghio had a fine year in Hamilton but there's still a part of me who would never trust him when the chips are down. I'm glad he's gone.
  21. McMahon's life should be endless lawsuits that keep him tied up in the courts until that worm finally dies. I doubt he'll go to jail as he can afford the best lawyers money can buy.
  22. How long is his term? Renegotiate, if p;ossible. If he wants to come back, He needs a shave & a haircut financially. Imagine if he did come back & he became a 45 goal scorer again. I assume after playing under Torts that his defensive efforts would have improved.
  23. The usual suspects. Ottawa or Edmonton who constantly overpay for free agents. There's former XFL & USFL players now available as well. Two hundred thousand is too much. Let him walk & we'll see what the market brings. By all means, Walters sgould present him with a contract but as a take it or leave it offer.
