  1. Center is used in Bob Swift's bio.... The caption under his picture uses the word centre so I'll just sat that both ways must be acceptable spellings. https://www.cflapedia.com/Players/s/swift_bob.htm
  2. I have always been told the re in centre is hockey & the er in center is football.
  3. He may be right. I have no idea how to get Toronto fans back. That should be Job 1.
  4. I'd love to see Trudeau forced into a leadership review if that means anything.
  5. Don't laugh at the AAF about that. When the Grey Cup was in Toronto 2 years ago, there was a pizza chain in Hamilton giving away Grey Cup tickets with every pizza order. Having the Grey Cup in Toronto with their (lack of) fanbase made the CFL a laughing stock. That city should never get a Grey Cup again after that.
  6. Hill made the spectacular plays like blocking 8 punts but Miller did the grunt work pn every play. He sacrificed his body to get in there & make the tackle. Fans respect that type of diligence & hard work. Miller got my vote as well.
  7. What agenda would that be? Please tell me as I'm curious to know myself.
  8. I was referring to sports leagues only. Rather than someone in another industry or line of work that isn't pro sports. In that regard, it's very difficult to compare what a welder does to playing pro football. An entry level salary of $70,000 plus is great money for anyone. But if compare it to other sports leagues & it isn't. That is what I was talking about. But I do get your point, Noeller. Interesting what kind of "agenda" some people think I have when it comes to player salaries. The only thing I want is for our players to be well paid so these fly by night leagues that come & go can't steal our guys.
  9. Center Paul Desjardins. Never missed a game in 6 seasons with the Blue Bombers. Ninety six regular season games plus playoffs in 65 & 66. Played in the 65 Grey Cup. Just to be clear, in hockey it's centre. In football, it's center.
  10. Chill dude. Always so angry. You're always just short of a vein exploding in your neck whenever you post. Don't want to have a stroke.
  11. Except that isn't it. More than 3 hours a week involved. That's way too simplistic.
  12. Then it should be easy to translate to fans who weren't there. How come it's so hard?
  13. Compare it to other pro leagues. Compare apples to apples. Not apples to sunflower seeds.
  14. Not surprising considering there is a new CBA coming. Keeping it status quo would never work. They can't just keep raising the cap every year by $50,000 increments either as it's eaten up right away by inflation as well as paying veteran players more money. They have to find a better way of setting the cap maximum. Even with a $14,000 raise for rookies while it's a start, is still too low. Maybe do what the NHL does by announcing the cap for the following season during the current one. That would be agreed to by the league meeting with the players & showing the books. There'd have to be transparency by the league to the players to do it that way.
  15. We are a boutique league because we pay our players like they are retail sales clerks in a mall. Some random Canadian is making minimum salary& Ambrosie takes away his off season bonus he's owed. Yet the collective agreement hasn't expired. Before our Commish starts talking trash he should look in a mirror.
  16. It was Jeff Orridge who did this but Ambrosie could have overruled it as an act of good faith. Chose not to.
  17. Syncrude & Husky were sure whining. And still are. They liked it at $10 a barrel as they were buying back the refined product at a huge discount & then selling it at world price. Meanwhile, producers were still suffering & job losses were everywhere.
  18. And yet the CFL does the deed of not paying off season bonuses even though the current collective agreement has not expired. That's bush league.
  19. We're the same. We're doing this to hopefully benefit the CFL. But the 2 games are very different. Maybe there are revenue opportunities for the CFL in Europe. I just don't know how or what they are so I'm skeptical. I doubt Ambrosie knows this either which is why this isn't exciting for me as of yet. We know the CFL will be second fiddle over there. That the style of game & rules won't be suddenly embraced. They should play some exhibition games over there to introduce Euros to our game in person. So fans can see just how wide open the CFL can be.
  20. Whoa, not so fast. You should know that Syncrude & Husky Oil are complaining bitterly that the price for Alberta oil is now too expensive to be shipped by rail & both are threatening to curtail shipments of AB oil to market. For the past 2 months, the AB govt has raised production levels of Western Canada Select to keep them at least $10 a barrel lower than West Texas Intermediate. The only way to get full value for WCS is to ship it by pipeline. How can you give Trudeau any credit for any of this is beyond me.
