Another beast was Phil Minnick, Played for the Bombers from 1965-70, 1972 & 73. Lost the entire 71 season recovering from a serious knee injury which shortened his playing career. He was a tough as nails MLB & played the same physical way as Adam Bighill did this season. Ib my mind, he was just as good as another famous MLB from the Stampeders, Wayne Harris. Easily the best player on the field defensively for both teams (except when the Bombers played Harris. Then it was a wash). When Minnick was lost for the 1971 season it was a huge loss. He came back for the 1972 & 73 seasons but was moved outside as there was another great middle linebacker in Mickey Doyle who also was a dominant backer in the middle that had taken his place. I'd like to nominate both Phil Minnick & Mickey Doyle as MLB's as they both deserve to be on that list.

The MBB All-time Blue Bomber Team: Safety

Ulmer played in the 65 Grey Cup. He was a great player on a very bad team as that 65 Grey Cup team would be the only great team he'd play on. Ulmer played on some brutal teams between 1967-70. Felt bad for the guy. It must've been a frustrating experience. He never whined about it or demanded out like running back Dave Raimey did & was traded to the Argos. I respect Ulmer a lot for always playing hard, never complaining & seldom winning. -
The MBB All-time Blue Bomber Team: Safety

I absolutely loved the way Brian Herosian played safety. For a few short years he was the dominant safety in the CFL before his tragic car accident. But the best safety we ever had was Paul Bennett without a doubt. He deserves to win this round of the competition at that position. -
He really could throw a football through a car wash & it wouldn't get wet because the ball was bigger than the car wash, itself & destroying it.

He had to be as he built the place all by himself.

We played 2 out of 3 there last year. Let those damned sodbusters come to our home stadium so we can kick their useless collective asses. Exhibition or regular season, it still sucks.

The MBB All-time Blue Bomber Team: Defensive Halfbacks

Back in the days when teams played 3 games in 10 days & played best of 3 semi finals & finals. Totally ludicrous. -
Doesn't the NFL have just 1 bye week for all teams all season?
-
Don't like the fact we have to play 3 games in Regina out of 4. That's just bullshit.

Someone has to be the one who has it.

Four years? Is he crazy? -
You got it but Jacquie sure didn't.

Ryckman was interviewed a few years ago. He said he has no intention of ever paying Flutie. He actually acted like the money he owned Doug was a joke, What a low life snake.

Vince is aging quickly. His voice sounded weak.

There was no salary cap so the rich teams could raid the poorer teams. The CFLPA was fine with it as a lot of players were making good money although most teams were hemhorraging money.

I don't recall any player being called that in relation to the CBA. As was pointed out, there used to be separate personal services contracts signed separately by players back in the 90's. Didn't count against the $$$ amount of salary s a team spent as the owner negotiated it. I remember Doug Flutie had a $250,000 contract with the Stamps & a million dollar contract with then Stamps owner Larry Ryckman…. who stiffed Flutie by never paying him.

Over the CFLPA's dead body. They will fight to keep UFA. I don't expect any restricted FA or compensation. Or franchise tag. I do hope the floor goes up significantly for rookies.
