2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

If I was in my 20's, I'd go. Other qbs have done it. Jake Maier & Trevor Harris. Maier especially is tenuos. If Calgary can find someone better then he'll be gone. Maier is 6 feet & 227 lbs. He can't even bother to play in shape which is half his problem. The guy is a pylon in the pocket. Maier should be 20 lbs lighter. -

Go work on an oil rig platform in the North Sea for 2 months. About $50,000 a month in salary on average. -
I'd be on the same level tech savvy wise as Davy Crockett would be if he was alive.

The only reason we can see in Canada it is that Peacock doesn't sell subscriptions outside of the US.

Pro athletes are so out of touch when it comes to money. Except in the CFL. -
Tonight's NFL Wild Card game between the Kansas City Chiefs & the Miami Dolphins can only be seen on CBS streaming service Peacock in the US. Apparently, Peacock paid the NFL $180 million dollars to televise this game exclusively. Meanwhile, Peacock is taking orders so people can watch the game today. My concern is that in a few years more & more games will be on streaming services they no longer will be on "free" network tv. That the Super Bowl itself will eventually be streamed only. Roger Goodell doesn't care about fans. Just making money.

If we reduced Canadians or eliminated the ratio then the cost of players salaries would be greatly reduced. It always bothered me seeing someone like Jeremiah Masoli get pummelled because the Canadian guard blocking an American DT is nothing more than a pylon. He makes more $$ than an American would in his place. -

In the CFL? Most guys make no real money playing in the CFL. General Managers dupe their players by deferring payments into bonuses at the middle or end of January & then cut them so they don't have to pay. So many players are on one year deals it doesn't matter if players are appreciating or depreciating as they only last a year with a team & move on. Most players have to find off season jobs. There's a handful of guys making 90% of the money at 3 or 4 positions like QB, DE or WR. Unless you're an overpaid & overrated Canadian OL that teams open up the banks for as most of them truly are. There really aren't a lot of truly great Canadian OL playing on any team. The remainder of a typical roster don't make what they should be making. To me, appreciating or depreciating means nothing. Prime example Sean Lemon. In his mid 30's & not mid 20's. Signs one year deals only & cashes in every time. -

Why do people compare the NFL to the CFL? It's in another stratosphere so they should pay more so who cares? QBs making more in 2019 before the pandemic just shows how the CFL is shrinking & not growing while the CFL does nothing to spur growth. Personally, I don't care if Nathan Rourke made more money than any CFL qb did. Of course Collaros doesn't have to "entertain" anything. But for the good of the team he should. It's obvious the Bombers are up against it with the ridiculously low salary cap. -

You can say that about every player. All it takes is one knee injury to destroy even a blue chipper's career. Or shorten it substantially. -

I like Zach & want him back but yeah, it's time he took a haircut. The money being paid qbs is unsustainable. So, reset the position so this doesn't have to be a thing every year. -
There are lots of asshat coaches or managers in every major pro league. Good or bad the players have to play for everyone even if they don't like it. Darryl "Chuckles" Sutter is another coach players hated but they had no choice.

Jake Maier was the only qb in the CFL to play all 18 games last season so nothing has changed. -
1. Yeah, Brady's sure been a positive & infectious force in the locker room this off season. Especially after his last social media post. 2. I & most fans just want to win whether Brady is from Winnipeg or Tallahassee. Florida. We don't care. Is it nice he's a Winnipegger? Sure. Is it necessary?? No. 3. What intangibles does Brady have that other backs don't have? Sure, he's big, strong & tough but so are other backs as well. He can be replaced rather easily for a a lot less money by an American. 4. The priority is Dalton Schoen. Not Brady. Since we pass the ball more than we run, that makes him the priority. 5. Football is a team game. You need all positions & coaches working together to win. You can't win by just one person "willing" it. 6. How can Oliveira be that "infectious force" you claim he is? Inspiring Americans to not just look at the CFL as a stepping stone to the NFL when he's doing that now, himself? Or wistfully thinking that maybe a bigger payday will come elsewhere in the CFL.

Vince Lombardi was this great coach with Bart Starr. Ingrate.

Carey is a decent blocker.

Miller doesn't coach the team. He has his duties. He lets Walters & O'Shea do there's. He stays in his lane. He does not interfere. A lot of that so called "quality" came with an offensive line that paved the road for Brady. Not many teams can do that for him. It's the guys up front that make Brady tick so replacing him isn't as hard as he may think.
